Love’s got a hold on me, baby, feels just like a ball and chain.

Love’s got a hold on me, baby, feels just like a ball and chain.

Bear Cub is cute.
Hey blerg! I’m just wasting, ahem, USING up time blogging this morning so I can go to work a little later and take advantage of my boss buying me free lunch. Turn down free lunch? NEVER.

St. John's Wort. ๐Ÿ’›
This is St. John’s Wort, and someone on IG informed me that it’s the ornamental, not medicinal, variety. Thanks, IG!

Oh baby you, you got what I neeeeed...
I am 9 weeks and 3 days pregnant today. Still no morning sickness, which leads me to believe that I am one of the lucky minority that doesn’t get it. Woo hoo! I did get up about SIX TIMES to pee all throughout last night/this morning though…that’s getting old.

Pretty lily in my neighbor's yard.
Still very lethargic. I spend many many hours laying on the couch, reading library books. I’m working on a painting, but it doesn’t hold my interest for very long before a nap beckons.

The Bear stands alone. ๐ŸŒฟ
Last night I was so tired that I let Josh make the dinner that I was planning on making–white chicken chili and cornbread. He did a nice job. While I was on the couch.

Bob Ross is so very soothing. ๐ŸŽจ
Bob Ross is very sooooothing.

Last night we watched “Aladdin”, my husband’s choice (after “Inside Amy Schumer”, MY choice). I keep telling him to knock it off with the children’s movies–I mean, once the baby comes aren’t we going to watch nothing BUT children’s movies? Every time I’ve brought up a thriller or a drama or a horror film to people I know with children they just stare at me blankly…so I think we need to get all the adult movies in NOW! NOW! NOW!

Happy Friday! Whatcha doin this weekend?
I have mostly been avoiding horror but there is a new Netflix series with Winona Ryder coming out next month that I’m pretty sure I need to watch. Check out this preview.

Josh bought me this glammy new sleep mask. Ahoy, mid-afternoon nap! (Note Maggie napping in the background)
For my Month 2 present (of the 9 months I am forcing my husband to buy me pregnancy presents), Josh bought me this cute little eye mask and some black-out curtains for the bedroom. So now I have an eye mask for the couch, too! Woo hoo!

First archery lesson tonight with Josh. ๐ŸŽฏ๐ŸŽฏ๐ŸŽฏ
Remember that archery lesson Groupon we bought back in…February? We finally redeemed it on Friday night. Josh was better than me, which made me mad. Competitive? Who’s competitive?

Janis Joplin singing "Ball and Chain" at the Monterey Pop Festival always gives me happy chills. Oh Janis! ๐Ÿ˜
There’s a new Janis Joplin documentary on Netflix, and yes you should watch it. If, for nothing else, to watch my all-time favorite performance of Janis at the Monterey Pop Festival, where she performs “Ball and Chain” with so much raw energy and power that the camera cuts to Mama Cass in the audience right afterwards saying, “WOW.” Wow indeed.

Aw heck here it is:

YES MA’AM. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. Gives me chills every time.

This carrot cake at the Deru Market spoke to me (although it was the salted peanut butter chocolate cake that came home with me). ๐Ÿ˜
Met up with my support group on Saturday–all nine original members! The breakfast at the Deru Market was nothing special, but look at those caaaaakes! A 9 dollar piece of salted peanut butter chocolate cake came home with me. That’s right. Josh and I split it that night. Mmmm.

This was a compelling read.
Back to murder mysteries again. This is a good one.

๐ŸŒž
Oh that sweet little Bear Cub! I put our throwing stick down on a picnic table the last time we went to the dog park, returned about 10 minutes later and someone had STOLEN IT. Losers!

Smile! ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ
Sometimes you need a smiley face. Especially after Sunday and the horrific slaughter of 50 LGBT clubbers at an Orlando night club. Sickening.

Nature is for lovers. ๐Ÿ’š
I’m ready to go camping again. Who’s with me?

Our calla lily is blooming. ๐Ÿ’š
The calla lilies that Grandma Shirley gave us last year are blooming!

Love that Bear Cub tail.
What a majestic tail! Alright, time to get to work. Ta ta for now.

Friday Instagram Superpost

Friday Instagram Superpost

Hey buddies. I thought I’d kick off Labor Day weekend with an INSTAGRAM SUPERPOST! ie, posting all of the IG photos I’ve taken over the past few weeks so I can, um, move on with my life.

Mother and daughter Butter Pecan Flavor Burst Good Times! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ

How did I forget to post this picture of Mom and I during my Boise chronicles? It’s one of my favorites from the entire trip! Sitting outside Delsa’s with butter pecan Flavor Burst cones (note the size of mine compared to hers, bwa ha haaaaaaa).

“Did you whiten my teeth?” she asked me when she saw this photo.

“Yep!” I do that, you know. Free of charge. ‘Cause I care.

...and Wild Animal Number Two, as well! Have you hugged your dog today? ๐Ÿ’•

Bear Schnubs and I at the dogpark yesterday.

TGIF! I'll be spending my weekend with Wild Animal Number 1...

She cuddled up to me while I threw the ball for this wild animal.ย

Turns out this polyester dress I've owned for __ years is perfect for #gameday (I don't watch the game but I care about the emotional stability of those around me ha haaaa). ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™
Yesterday’s work outfit, minus the short-sleeved cardigan I wore over the top. It was a Seahawks game day, and as it turns out, this polyester green and blue dress I bought 10,000 years ago has Seahawks colors, delighting most of my patients, who are fans.

My new glasses. Can you tell I'm a fan of Dame Edna?! ๐Ÿ‘“

My new, ridiculous glasses from Zenni that only set me back 30 clams (well, 30 for the frames at any rate). I’ve always wanted cat-eye glasses and when I saw these online, they just screamed LIZ BUY ME and who could resist? So Dame Edna!

It’s official,” Christopher texted to me when I sent him this picture. “You REALLY are a fag!

Thank you,” I replied.

We finally agreed on a color: chartreuse! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š

After smearing 8 different shades of green on the office walls, Josh and I finally came to an agreement on chartreuse. Hurrah!

I was kinda critical of the previous owners' painting job until Josh and I re-painted the office. Ha!

Whoops! Apparently even using painter’s tape doesn’t guarantee a clean edge. Well, it WAS my first time ever painting an entire room, I expected mistakes. In fact, that’s why I wanted to paint the office first, because it’s a room that neither one of us care too much about.ย

Bear Cub does not enjoy riding in the car. ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Josh brought the girls to the airport to pick me up on Sunday. Here’s Bear Cub looking supremely uncomfortable on the drive home. Poor little Cub!

Little Fluffy Clouds โ˜๏ธ

Yesterday at the dog park I had the unique experience of having both sunshine piercing my eyeballs AND little droplets of rain showering on my head. No rainbow though. Harrumph.

Testing kitchen paint colors last night while listening to the Die Antwoord Pandora station. The letters match the color names. Which one is your fave? ๐Ÿ’™

The current state of the kitchen. Josh talked me into choosing two colors, so we are going with A (Art Deco Dreams) for the main kitchen color and P (Dip in the Pool) for the dining room. Mmmm, aquaaaaa.

Recent important additions to our cd collection ๐Ÿถ

Recent important additions to our c.d. collection. I can listen to this song a LOT before I get sick of it.ย

Hooray! "How to Get Dressed" by one of my fave @xojanedotcom writers, @alisonfreer arrived! Already I'm loving the chapter on laundry (and relieved that I'm doing it mostly right) โœจ

I’d had this book in my wish list for a long time and went ahead and ordered it recently. I was relieved while reading the chapter on laundry to discover that I’m doing it mostly right! Mostly.

Oh Baddiewinkle! โœจ๐Ÿ’šโœจ

Not into Baddie Winkle yet? You should be! She basically has my dream wardrobe.

Hangin' with my homies. ๐ŸŽพ

Celebrating National Dog Day with a couple of dogs.

Hmmmm...๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ‰

Surprisingly tasty!

1985?! This chick looks like a modern-day hipster.

Hey nostalgic weirdos (like myself), did you know that Old School episodes of “Reading Rainbow” are on Netflix? I couldn’t believe this chick from the first episode (1985!), looking exactly like a modern-day hipster. The more things change, eh?

Recovering from a root canal, and the dogs are being very sweet. ๐Ÿ’›

Last Monday, root canal day. Being comforted by Schnubs.

With my Birthday Broad, @corinne_spoja ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’•โœจ

Did I ever blog about The Broad’s birthday dinner? I feel like the answer is yes, and yet–I don’t remember posting this picture. I offered up “The Crab Cracker” in Kirkland as a possible dinner option, and she went for it. Here we are after stuffing our faces.

Celebrating the beautiful busty @corinne_spoja's b-day tonight with creme brรปlรฉe ๐Ÿ˜

My Broad enjoying her birthday creme brulee. Josh and I split a piece of coconut creme pie with Lorna Doone crust that was incredible. Let’s face it, I’m basically only dieting now so I can eat my way through New York. Makes sense, rrrrrright?

โœจ๐Ÿ’šโœจ

A little green-spiration at “Display & Costume” a few weeks ago.

Oof! That blog entry ended up taking a whole lot longer than planned due to about 42395482942534 different distractions. How do writers do it? REAL writers I mean. If you find out, let me know.

Satur-Yay!

Satur-Yay!

new sunglasses
Hallo, children! What are you up to on this marvelous spring day? I took the rogs to the forest-y dog park this morning, dressed in long pants, a short-sleeved shirt, a sweatshirt, a fleece, with a winter hat AND thick gloves on. Happy “spring”!

Maggie is always there
Now I’m guzzling coffee and thinking about performing some Blogilates in the living room, in my underpants. Josh is skiing with Muncle. I have zero responsibilities today (I had a WW meeting but I didn’t go because I still haven’t lost any weight).

lil aqua dress
For tomorrow’s Easter fest at Grandma Shirley’s, I am planning on wearing this dress, with a little white cardigan and my nude fishnets and some metallic flats. I’ve been wanting to get a spray tan, but after the dermatologist snipped a couple of things off my forehead I have two healing wounds, and I’m scared to get tanning spray in them. I could cover them with band-aids, but that would just be…weird.

silk floral dress
I bought this lovely silk dress off Ebay recently, haven’t worn it yet. I also bought a fabulous pair of Coach flats, 80 dollars for 280 dollar shoes, and wouldn’t you know, they are a tiny bit too big. I never know any more if I am a 9 or 9.5, and this gamble on the 9.5 didn’t pay off. Now I’m trying to re-sell the damn things back on Ebay. Ugh.

looking down from the bedroom
Here’s a view of the backyard, looking down from the master bedroom. Look at the giant rhubarb plant! What in the hell should I do with it?

an old favorite
Always worth my moneys: Calyx perfume. Mmmmmm, don’t ever leave me, Calyx perfume.

My neighbor’s across the street are having a yard sale. I don’t need or want anything, but I kind of feel like I need to be a good neighbor and at least go check it out. I’ve been listening to this album, really good and mellow:

Enjoy!

Shiny shiny, shiny boots of leather

Shiny shiny, shiny boots of leather

Hey gurl heyyyyy. Are you watching Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race? This week I was crushing on Violet, who insists she has the smallest waist of any Drag Race contestant EVAH. She is adorbs.

Today I asked the Magic 8 ball at work if Josh loved me and it said “Don’t count on it” and I asked if Maggie loved me and it said “Yes” and I asked if I should eat 3 ice cream sandwiches today (like I did yesterday) and it said “Yes“. SO! There.

Look at all the pretty pretties coming up in our front yard!

One of our housewarming party guests gave us these orchids. I wonder how long I’ll be able to keep them alive?

Saturday’s walkies. It was a beautiful weekend.

I enjoyed the colorful display on my windshield at the car wash. Is it Art?

Speaking of Art, I FINALLY own a Velvet Underground cd, my goodness, I don’t know why it took me so long. I figured I should start from the beginning. I really enjoy “Venus in Furs”:

It’s real nice.

View outside the parlor window. It’s so pretty around here.

Signs of spring, all around.

Doggy art at our new vet’s office. Maggie charmed everyone, of course. She LOVES going to the vet–she’s a social butterfly!

Into this skirt, “Elle” magazine. Not for 800 bucks, though.

Current nail situation.

Not much going ’round here, kids. I re-joined Weight Watchers, as it seems my ability to LOSE weight has um…stalled. Stopped? Yup. We finished “Friends” last night. I discovered my local library over the weekend. That’s all for now!

Mood lifter

Mood lifter

I’ve been in a terrible, horrible, no good-very-BAD mood today (for various reasons) and yet somehow, watching this video for 2 minutes and 54 seconds has made me feel…a lot better. My God, maybe I just need to DANCE OFF my bad mood. What a concept! Maybe it’ll will help you, too.

Bumbershoot 2014

Bumbershoot 2014

beautiful day at the Seattle Center
Bumbaclaat! Whoops, no, let me try that again. Bumbershoot! We went to Bumbershoot last Sunday. Bumbershoot is an annual 3 day music/arts/comedy festival at the Seattle Center. It costs about 70 bucks per day. The last time I had gone was 2007, my last year of drinking. Guess what? Bumbershoot was way MORE FUN sober. No, really. Like everything else.

hip hop at Bumbershoot
We saw hip hop and more hip hop and stand-up comedy including Janeane Garofalo (who is SO TINY in real life!) and my boyfriend Tom Robbins during his final final final public appearance EVER (he’s 82!?!) and pop music and post-punk music and dubstep and more.

Joshy gets down
He may be 40, but he can kick, streeeeetch, and kick!

hold me closer, tiny dancer
Joshy outdances the baby hipsters.

Kid Hops lays down the beats
We ate like pigs and then finished off the day watching one of our favorite kexp DJ’s Kid Hops playing one of the best Old Skool drum and bass sessions I’ve seen in years…and I mean, YEARS.

Kid Hops
Drum and bass music was pretty relevant to my 20’s and I was sure it was deader than dead, so it almost made me verklempt to see all the kids waving their hands around and dancing and bopping to “my” music. Mawwwww.

I had a great time, I’d totally go again! Maybe even for two whole days next time. Happy weekend.

The Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon

The Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon

Joshy after the marathon
The (tired) happy marathon finisher yesterday! This was his second marathon. He beat the time from his first marathon (15 years ago) by 40 minutes. Whatta man!

seattle center fountain
It could not have been a more beautiful day yesterday. I took a cab service (didn’t want to have to deal with parking and construction) down to the Seattle Center. The cab driver was pretty clueless–he started fiddling with his GPS while we were on the freeway–SLOWING DOWN–but at least when we hit the construction near Mercer Street he stopped running the meter. He also dropped me off pretty close to the finish line, so I was able to watch my husband’s butt running away from me as he finished the race.

J and L
Joshy escaped injury. Sure, he hobbled around a bit yesterday, but wouldn’t you after running 26.2 miles?

post-marathon smiles
I had a hard time deciding what to wear yesterday morning, and finally went with comfort. Not to mention I love this dress and I can’t wear it to work because it exposes my boobs/bra/bathing suit top. This could be remedied with a few stitches, but I kind of like it that way.

Seattle center free concert
There were a ton of vendors at the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon, but we only walked around briefly for a shot of Naked juice and some ice packs before making our way to the stage to catch the end of the Presidents of the United States of America. I listened to “Peaches” and felt like I was in high school again (in a good way).

Josh reclining on the grass
Joshy relaxing on the grass. I was impressed that he was able to stand and attempt to bop around during Sir Mix-A-Lot’s set! What a trooper.

Sir Mix A Lot and some girls
Sir Mix-A-Lot looks exactly the same as he did when “Baby Got Back” came out 20 years ago. Him and his crew did “Buttermilk Biscuits”, “Put Em on the Glass”, “Testarossa”, “Swass”, and of course, “Baby Got Back”. He invited women up on the stage for “Baby Got Back”. Most of the dancers with marathoners, but there was one exuberant young lady in cut-off jeans that pretty much hogged the spotlight. She was easy on the eyes, and I told her so as we were leaving and she walked past us with a man.

“And she still makes her dad proud!” cried the man, who looked far too young to be her father but maybe she was just an extremely mature-looking 15-year-old, who can say? I know my father wouldn’t be proud of me for grinding all over Sir Mix-A-Lot, but ne’er mind that.

booty shakers
“She didn’t do anything for me,” sniffed my husband.

“That’s because you don’t like tall women,” I told him.

Liz likes big butts and she cannot lie
I had no desire to get on stage, but I shook my ass and yelled out all the lyrics just the same. Yay! Finally saw Sir Mix-A-Lot live! I can cross that one off my “list” (not that I have a list) (should I have a list?).

Here’s a little video Josh took during Sir Mix-A-Lot’s “My Posse’s on Broadway”. I’m sure the youtubes will take it down any second now.

After Sir Mix-A-Lot we returned home, planted some things in the garden, ate Double Stuf oreos and watched “I.T. Crowd” for the 10 billionth time and just generally Took It Easy, which is what I plan on doing today, as well. I feel like this whole month has been busy for us and I need a little de-compression before returning back to work tomorrow. Coming up next in this blog: my final Kauai entry. Really! Really!
