Baby antics, funny shows, and Grammy

Baby antics, funny shows, and Grammy

Grammy gives Mr. Baby his first bite of ice cream.
Heyyyy bloooog. I’ve had the “add new post” box up for three days, just waiting for the opportunity to write. And here it is! Here’s Mom giving Goo his very first taste of ice cream. We would have waited, but it was important to her, so we let her do it. Of course he loved it!

Catching up on a bit of luxury with Mom last night...classic episodes of Aaaaaabsolutely Faaaaabulous πŸ’–
Plenty of Ab Fabs were watched over the past week (mostly by me, but that’s okay). We also showed Mumsie “Office Space” for her first time.

"Beverly Leslie with your pants so tight, won't you be my partner tonight?"
And of course, per her request, some “Will & Grace”. I wonder how the new season is? Did Beverly Leslie come back too?

Happy Friday! Let's frolic. 🌞🌲🐢
She’s flying back to Boise this afternoon. Josh is driving her to the airport…while I go to the gym and go to the grocery store and frantically try to accomplish some cleaning tasks that are very difficult to get done with a Mr. Baby.

Beautiful sunny day today. 🌞
We went for a walk (or two) every single day that she was here. Sometimes she went for a THIRD walk by herself after dinner. This is a woman recovering from two back surgeries, mind you.

First full day away from my baby while Josh/Goo attend his father's bday bash in Spokane. Mumsie and I bought fresh books, gorged on Oreo milkshakes and watched "Will and Grace". Not a bad way to spend a day baby-free! (I MISS HIM)
On Saturday I let Josh take my baby to Spokane and back in the very same day to attend his father’s 70th birthday party. I definitely missed my baby, but it helped having Mom around to distract me. We walked, snarfed Oreo milkshakes and read books. Not a bad baby-free day!

I can tell Josh has been using my car 😝
A surefire sign that Josh borrowed my car: Paul Anka appeared in the front seat. Gross.

Beach baby β›±
Josh took the baby to the beach this week and let him stick his baby toes in the sand (and pulled him away before he could eat a mouthful of sand).

No editing needed on these stunning hibiscus flowers. 🌺🌺🌺
The hibiscus is doing great.

Somebody wants attention and her name is Maggie dog.
Maggie dog says heyyyyy pay attention to meeeeeeeeee.

Pops and Goo vs Pops and me πŸ’•πŸ’•
My father and Goo vs. my father and me.

Post-haircut: better! I only get my hair cut 2-3 times a year, always the minimum. The hairdresser suggested I cut my hair every 6 weeks...that seems high maintenance to me.
Mumsie and I both desperately needed a trim, so went and got our hair cut together. This is the “after”…I also took a “before” shot, but Flickr seems to have not uploaded it, and I am lazy.

Last shave ice of the summer! 🌺
My mother is interested in Lake Stevens, so we drove around the lake and also stopped for one last shave ice.

#fbf: my baby shower last November with Erika and @idahoagogo πŸ’•(I finally looked at the pictures this morning! πŸ˜‚)
“One last”…because as of September 1st I am officially on a low-carb diet. My weight has stalled with a whopping 20 pounds left to go for months now, and IT WILL NOT STAND. Here’s a shot of me and Erika and Christy at my baby shower last year…I finally got around to looking at the pictures Erika sent!

Nature walks with Mumsie. 🌾
Mumsie off in search of Maggie, who was deep in the forest eating something disgusting.

Bear Cub!
Bear Cub also ate something disgusting during one of our walks…she had a shit-eating grin! What gross animals!

Goo laughing at videos of himself.
This baby loves to look at pictures of himself. He sure takes after his mom!

Maggie is 11 years older than Mr. Bennett but they get along just fine. πŸ’•
Bob and Fleeta brought Mr. Bennett and the kids over yesterday. Maggie and Mr. Bennett got along famously. I miss my dogs playing together like that! It’s been years.

Family walkies! It's hoooot. 🌞
One last family walk. Luckily my mother is going to come back for another visit at the beginning of November. What will Goo be doing by then? Running, at this rate!

Mumsie is flying back home today after a lovely 2-week stay. We're going to miss her!
We’re going to miss you, Grammy!

Alright, time to get this carcass moving. Ta ta for now, bloggers.

Summertime, when the living is sleazy

Summertime, when the living is sleazy

Fun with cloud shapes: what do you see? I see the Flavor Burst I'm gonna snarf in Portland tomorrow! 🍦
Hey blog! Mr. Baby is in his baby bouncer next to me on the floor while I type this. We’ll see how long it lasts…(do I say that every time? I think so).

#throwback: a street performer in Times Square, 2015.
For no particular reason at all, here is a street performer from our trip to NYC back in October 2015.

The graduate! 🌺
On Saturday after I got off work, we drove to Portland to celebrate my beautiful cousin Erika’s graduation from nursing school. She is 25 weeks pregnant, and looks radiant.

With my beautiful cousin Erika, who just graduated from nursing school.
She had a luau in her front yard. It was mostly family–her mother and one of her brothers, her mom’s boyfriend and his sons, her husband’s mother and sister.

Mr. Baby cuddles with Aunt Kissy @dubtrance πŸ’•βœ¨βœ¨
But of course we couldn’t make a trip to Portland without picking up Christopher!

No trip to Portland would be complete without a stop at Voodoo Donuts! 🍩
We spent the night at a Red Lion, and on the way out of town we HAD to stop at “Voodoo Doughnuts”, of course. Mmmm.

Inside Voodoo Doughnuts yesterday. I got "gay bar" and "triple chocolate penetration" (who only gets one donut?).
I got a “Gay Bar”–a bar doughnut filled with cream with vanilla frosting and a line of Froot Loops on top, and a “Triple Chocolate Penetration”–chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting and chocolate cereal on top. YUM.

Love these shiny neon flowers in my neighbor's yard. πŸ’–
The dogs stayed with our favorite boarder, who we just learned is moving houses and won’t be able to board them anymore. Dammit.

The "Endless Summer" hydrangea is beginning to bloom.
In the meantime suddenly it’s HOT here. It’s supposed to get up to nearly 90 today…gross. I have the baby dressed in a sleeveless onesie with crabs on it and after this typing, I’m going to take him for a nice cool air-conditioned drive to get him to nap.

πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
And even though it’s 10 in the morning, I may just have a popsicle.

Maggie dog says, "Happy frickin' summer solstice." β˜”οΈπŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦
Of course on the day of the summer solstice, it still looked like this! Look at poor old Maggie dog.

πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸŒΏ
I pulled up a ton of these big funky green plants earlier this year and the ones I missed blossomed…foxglove! Whoops! Maybe I’ll remember next year.

Floral present from Joshy 🌻🌻🌻
Joshy bought me flowers. Just cause.

At the beach with my mens yesterday. 🐳
Baby’s second trip to the beach…no falling in quicksand this time! Score!

My water dogs. πŸ’¦
We may go again today. What else do you do when it’s grossly hot? Get wet!

Seaside flowers.
We live so close to the water. It’s nice.

Bear Cub's favorite activity is standing on the shore and attacking Maggie when she comes out of the water.
Happy Cub!

Summer weather finally here! 🌈🌞🌿
I even broke out Ye Olde Rainbow Hat. I’ve had that damn thing since I was about 21.

This is my kind of weather. 🌞🌞🌞
Too hot for black dogs to walk in the afternoon–Josh took them for a 9 am walk today.

Friday night with these fellers. Crab cakes, fresh corn, and "Scratch". 🎧
Friday night fun with baby. Yesterday an ice cube in a snack bag kept him entertained for at least 30 minutes.

Happy Pride weekend, Seattle! πŸŒˆπŸ’–βœ¨βœ¨
It’s Pride Weekend! I’m always a little nostalgic for the parade. Maybe next year.

Kind of obsessed with these strawberry Mexican Popsicles πŸ“πŸ“πŸ“
Current obsession: strawberry Mexican popsicles. SO GOOD.

The thigh's the limit πŸ’₯
This is my thigh. I don’t know why. My oh my?

This morning at 4 am while I lay awake, sweating, I thought a psychedelic alphabet adult coloring book was a great idea. What do you think?

Spring fling

Spring fling

I πŸ’—the flowering almond tree.
Happy spring, blerg! I love the flowering almond tree in our backyard this time of year, it’s so dreeeeamy.

These guys. πŸ’•
Speaking of dreamy. I just put the little dude down again for his first nap of the day…I’m hoping it takes this time. He went down for less than an hour and then was fussing with a wet diaper. I NEED his first nap of the day to be at least two hours…often it’s his only nap! I mean, what? Does this kid not like to sleep, or something? How different from his mom.

Aunt Kissy (@dubtrance) crocheting a blanket for Baby M. while we watched Roseanne and Ab Fab last night. πŸ’–
Look who came in for a visit…Aunt Kissy! I didn’t want him visiting while the baby was so young, but he INSISTED and sort of ignored my protests and Corinne bought him a train ticket. He spent half the week with her–half of which must have sucked because she started her period! She actually spent one whole day in bed. Lame.

Breakfast of champions: @dubtrance made the Monte Cristo breakfast casserole.
Despite my concerns, his visit with us ended up going great. Only one nap was disturbed! We binge-watched “Ab Fab”, he made the Monte Cristo casserole above (mmmm), delicious curry and put together the crockpot roast that I started to make but was interrupted by a crying baby (such is my life these days).

Lily made herself right at home!
Bear Cub appeared jealous of Lily (she sure is a grumpy Cub) but Lily was a snuggle dog as usual.

Josh + Lily. πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™
Here she is cuddling with Joshy.

Baby's first space boots. 🌟✨✨
I had bought these cool space boots for Ronia years ago, but she had already outgrown them by the time I gave them to Brenna. I kept them for my “future child” (always optimistic!) and POW! Here they are!

“He’s allowed to wear fabulous things now, at this age,” remarked my neighbor when she saw the boots.

“He can wear fabulous things ANY time,” I sniffed. I mean silver is timeless!

Spring fling. 🌸
I don’t believe in age limits for glitter nail polish, either.

Aunt Kissy @dubtrance has a cuddle with M.. πŸ’™
My mother calls him “Smootie”, Josh calls him “Bean”, I call him “Goo” and Aunt Kissy calls him “Pork Chop”.

Joshy is a punk.
With help from Christopher, Josh formed his long ass hair into a fun Mohawk before cutting and dying it.

Joshy' self-portrait with baby and turntables. πŸ’•
HOT.

18 years of friendship! 🌈🌟✨
18 years (minus three when we weren’t speaking to each other) of friendship! I cropped my hammer pants out of the picture. This was a re-creation of a shot of Christopher and I at Trancelot a million years ago, but I can’t seem to locate the original. Dammit!

Just a typical Sunday afternoon!
Turban Sunday! What could be better?

Maggie and Bear Cub grazing. 🌿
We never miss our daily dog walk.

M. and Aunty Corinne. πŸ’•
On Monday before I had to drive Christopher to the train station, Aunty Corinne came by for a visit.

Corinne is surrounded by a pack of dogs.
And was immediately surrounded by dogs! The baby fussed much of the time she was over but I’m still glad she came by for a visit. It happens so rarely.

Sunny this morning but still coo-oooold!
Brrrrrr. Still quite cold in the morning.

🌸🌸🌸
Think Pink!

Love these colorful blooms.
I never know what these colorful shrubs are, but they catch my eye every year.

In the front yard. πŸ’œ
Not sure what these are either, but they pop up in the front yard every year.

Maybe I should paint a geisha for my next mini painting! (thanks @theladyofthegoldrings)
This geisha photo spotted on IG inspired me for my next mini painting.

I like this wig. How sad is that that I can only watch "Untucked" and recaps because I don't get VH1??! Bring back "Drag Race" to Logo, @rupaulsdragrace!
Meanwhile, I’m having to get my “Drag Race” fix by watching “Untucked” and recaps on Youtube. BOO, LOGO.

Today's walkies.
Yesterday afternoon my neighbor graciously came over and watched Goo while I walked the dogs. Her daughter is about to have her second child and I suspect I won’t be seeing her much after that, so I’m using her as much as possible!

🌷🌷🌷
Spotted this tulip in my neighbor’s front yard.

More grape hyacinth in the backyard. πŸ’™
The grape hyacinth is everywhere. In our backyard planter, in our front and back yards, all over my neighbor’s lawns…pretty pretty.

Hyacinth everywhere!
And more hyacinth!

My mother is currently in San Francisco, awaiting surgery in 11 days to have the benign spinal tumor she’s had for 10 years removed. I pray for her every day! I would be there if I could, but I have a little tiny baby right now. Sigh.Β Currently I just finished 10 minutes on the Elliptical trainer (my plantar fasciities did not enjoy it), painted a little on the new geisha painting and the old Joan painting, and am now going to lift some weights while watching “30 Rock”. Good times? Are we having fun yet?

All I wanna do is have some fun

All I wanna do is have some fun

Our first outing with the baby at Marymoor Park was foiled by losing Maggie! Luckily a nice lady from Portland found her and called me on my cellphone before we started to REALLY panic. Friggin' dogs!
Howdy blog! This was last Sunday, a beautiful sunny day and what SHOULD have been a lovely relaxing family outing to Marymoor Park…foiled because we LOST MAGGIE. It happened pretty quickly after we got to the park. Both dogs pooped at the same time, I was bending over to pick up Bear Cub’s poop and Josh and I noticed that Maggie was gone. No big deal, she usually runs ahead of us to the water, so we went to the water…and still no Maggie. We ended up splitting up and walking all over the park searching for her. The baby was fussing on and off and my plantar fasciitis was rearin’ up and I was just starting to verge on panic (or at least, anxiety) when my cell phone rang and it was a nice lady from Portland who had found Maggie wandering around in the parking lot! I gave her a huge hug and thanked her repeatedly and then WE LEFT BECAUSE THE PARK TRIP WAS RUINED, THANKS A LOT MAGGIE.

πŸ’™πŸ’™
It was the first time in 11 years I had lost her, not a bad track record. Still, never expected to lose Maggie. Bear Cub, sure, she’s an independent Cub. Thank God for nice ladies from Portland.

I have this thing for Jemaine Clement. ❀
Crushing on Jemaine Clement as a vampire in “What We Do in the Shadows”. A cute little mockumentary about vampires.

My Erte notebook is pretty pretty. 🌟
Isn’t the Erte design on this notebook gorgeous? Josh bought this for me. It contains many sketches by me of his butt. You understand.

Anyone have suggestions on how I can polish this metal tree without screwing it up? ✨
This metal tree needs polishing, but I’m scared to ruin it. What should I use?

Sweet little spring daffodils. πŸ’›
Here come the daffodils! I love this time of year.

The elusive rainbow unicorn! 🌈🌈🌈
I was VERY excited to put the rainbow unicorn onesie on him! Too bad all of his 3 month clothes baaaarely fit, my little chunk! Sigh.

Don't know who Zendaya is, but I'm really into this outfit. 🌟
I am inexplicably drawn to this outfit. I think it’s the combination of seersucker + big pants…I love both of those things. Once a raver, always a raver.

Love these grape hyacinth. πŸ’œ
Here’s what my baby week has entailed: lots of breastfeeding. Still pumping one bottle a day for Josh to give him at night (more like 4 in the morning). He is sleeping from 10-3 or 4, and then until 6, and then usually has a nap at 10/11 and another one at 3/4 in the afternoon. He smiles a lot, coos and says “Ah-Goo”. My nickname for him right now is Goo. He is sooooo cute, it hurts. He’s starting to look at the dogs, which I love.

Current workstation (not pictured: a fine coating of glitter on everything ✨).
Here’s what my non-baby week has entailed: finished my first little dollhouse painting, now I’m just decorating the easel and it’s going up for sale in my Etsy shop. Became super annoyed with the Joan Crawford painting and painted over it, OOPS! Try try again. Watching a lot of “Sex and the City” in the afternoons. Walking the dogs and sometimes the baby every day. Occasionally lifting weights (okay once this week). Went clothes shopping for the first time, post-partum, and was very humbled by the experience. Texted my cousin Erika to tell her about this experience, and she told me that she’s pregnant again! With another boy! We are meant to be boy moms.

Anyone lose a big white exercise ball? πŸ˜‚
Look it’s a white stability ball in the middle of a marsh! How bizarre.

I like neons in the springtime (ok I like neons ALL of the time πŸ’–).
C’est moi, yesterday, in one of my new larger shirts to accommodate my new giant boobs. Hooray for neon!

It was all yellow.
Expect a lot of flower pictures over the next few months.

Hope your Friday is out of this world! πŸ‘½
That brings us around to today, in his cute little alien outfit! I was SO looking forward to this outfit, and now he barely fits into it! Good grief, we’re gonna be in 6 month outfits sooner than I thought. Happy Spring, blog-logs!

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Josh shows off new exciting uses for chip clips.
Hellerrr, blerrrrg. The baby is down for a nap, Josh is doing yardwork and I just remembered during my pumping session that I didn’t blog this week. Roops! Here’s Josh showing off exciting new hairstyles using chip clips.

Back at the gym this morning for the 1st time since baby arrived. You gotta start somewhere! πŸ’ͺ
Look it’s me! Back at the gym for the first time last weekend, and it felt so gooood. I also went yesterday after breakfast. I’m still on the bicycle for cardio and haven’t graduated back to the treadmill or elliptical (stupid plantar fasciitis), but at least I’m on Level 6 instead of my pregnancy Level 2. Progress!

Here come the crocuses in the front yard. πŸ’œπŸ’›
Tomorrow is the first day of spring hooray! My favorite season. Today is the only sunny day forecasted this week so the whole fam is going out for a sunny park trip sometime this afternoon.

Crocuses in the backyard. πŸ’œ
I love these purple and white crocuses in the backyard.

Father and son. πŸ’™
Ohhh these cuties. Baby M. will finish his 9th week of life and start his 10th on Tuesday. He smiles and coos and says “Ah-Goo” and I love him so much, it’s ridiculous.

Soggy Sunday! πŸ’¦
Lots of wet, muddy walks this week. One day I made the mistake of wearing the barefoot Brooks that are partly mesh and they got SOAKED, all through my socks. Made for a squishy walk but I still did a mile.

Had a Broad date today--we painted our nails, pet kitties, and then I watched her hoop in her underwear. Score!
Last Sunday I pumped an extra bottle so that I could go see my Broad for a Broad Date. We painted our nails with her expensive Jamberry polish, pet kitties, and then she stripped down to her underwear and showed off her hooping skills. She hoops every day now for at least an hour! I’m so proud of her. Made me want to dust off my own hoop…sometime.

Enjoying a little silver glitter on my nails before they start to chip in 3...2...
I hadn’t painted my nails in months. I like glitter polish because it camouflages chips the best. Also: because glitter.

The subject of my first mini painting is Louise Brooks, of course! I've painted her 4 times and I'm not bored yet. (top left is still for sale, btw)
For my first mini painting I went with an old favorite, Louise Brooks!

Starting the Lulu mini painting.
Initial stages of the Lulu painting. I’m at the glitter stage, presently.

Babies make you better multitaskers--here's Josh drawing and holding his son at the same time. πŸ’•
I’m not the only one creating art around here. Here’s Joshy multitasking–drawing and holding his son at the same time. Talent!

πŸ’•
I hope Baby M. is an artist too.

Bear Cub is relaxed.
Bear Cub, relaxed. She’s currently snoring at my feet as I type this.

Josh's snowflake/disco ball decoration in the kitchen. "Do we get to take the snowflakes down in five days when winter is over?" I asked him yesterday. (Side note: YAY SPRING)
Josh’s disco ball and snowflake decorations in the kitchen, which I’m planning on taking down tomorrow. Down with the snow! Up with the flowers!

Finally--a rain break!
I’m currently attempting to read a biography of Marilyn (and failing). We’ve been re-watching “Deadwood” at night…it’s even better the second time around. It’s a shame it only lasted three seasons. Seems like all the shows we like best don’t last.

Hey! "Aqua Floral Mandala" is still for sale. 🌸🌼🌸
I was downstairs painting and my pink turban caught my eye, all neglected on a wig head, so I thought I had better take care of it! It still had the price tag on it from our trip to NYC, how sad! After I posted this picture on IG, my old old old olllld blogfriend Laila offered to buy the Mandala! Woo hoo!

Today was nice. 🌞
Not right away, but sometime this year. Which is fine by me…it’s not like my paintings are going anywhere, any time soon. This past week would have been the RAW show that I was asked to join, and I wanted to, I really did…but maybe when Baby M. is a little older. I am still breastfeeding a LOT at this point.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! πŸ’šπŸ€πŸ’š
Friday was St. Patrick’s Day, and it was Josh’s idea to dress M. up in this swaddle blanket wrapped as a tiny kilt! I DIE! I had dressed up as well to get in the picture, but we were lucky to get one photo where he was not crying/screaming.

Maggie dog says "Rappy Raint Ratrick's Ray!" Turns out elder dogs are easier to pose than babies. πŸ€πŸ€
Maggie on the other hand, was comparatively easy to pose. My elder dog!

First baby date! All boys, all adorable.
Friday afternoon Baby M. and I had our very first solo outing in the car together…all the way to Bellevue! It took us only 36 minutes to drive there but a whopping hour and ten minutes to drive home, thanks to rain (groan) (there’s always rain, come on people) and gross Friday afternoon traffic. I met up with two ladies I had met through my fertility clinic and their beautiful baby boys.

“Our son looks like a tank,” remarked Josh when he saw the photos.

@espedp laid out a beautiful spread for our baby date yesterday--croissants, cream cheese and fresh fruit. Too bad we had to eat in shifts! πŸ˜‚
A lovely lunch was laid out–but we spent most of the time walking/burping/feeding/changing our babies. I did manage to shove a couple of cream cheese slathered mini croissants and fresh fruit into my maw in between caring for my son. Who sits down and eats at a normal pace with a newborn?! It’s not possible.

Swamp Cub! πŸ’¦
The drive gave me a lot more confidence about traveling with my son in the future. It can be done! He gets a little fussy at stoplights, but not a peep while we’re on the freeway. Phewwwwww.

Today's dogwalk required Wellies. β˜”οΈ
Yesterday’s dogwalk was REALLY rainy. I’m looking forward to getting out in the sun today! Let’s go!

Little boxes made of ticky tacky

Little boxes made of ticky tacky

Happy Friday! Is there a more perfect comfort food than a grilled cheese sandwich? 😍
Howdy blog! If this is a Good Nap Day, I estimate that I have 30 minutes to write this blog entry. Let’s see what happens! Last week I decided the last of the bread left by our houseguests needed to be eaten in the form of a grilled cheese sannie…or three! The ultimate comfort food. Mmmm.

Ohhhh it's a happenin' Friday night 'round here.
One week ago today. A typical Friday night for new parents. We have a new bedtime routine…ice cream and Sleepytime tea around 8:30 pm, which is when I kick off my three rounds of breastfeeding. We’ve done that for most of this week and he has slept GREAT–now he only wakes up twice, once for a Josh feeding at 2-ish and once for a Liz feeding at 5-6-ish. Then if I’m really lucky, he might let me sleep until 8–but not the last two days.

Maggie dog is always up for a game of fetch. 🎾
Still! I’m not complaining! It works out to 8 hours of sleep if you subtract the pee breaks I still have to make. What is THAT all about? Is that just my New Normal? I’ve been using that term a lot since Baby M. has been born.

Loving this tattoo art by @evakrbdk πŸ’™
I continue to be inspired by tattoo art on IG, although I’m over wanting any more for myself. Although at least 3 times a year I think I want to cover up my old sun tattoo. BUT WITH WHAT? The eternal dilemma.

"What is that green thing?" squawked my sleep-deprived husband today. "Some kind of alien?"
I’m going to slowly post less pictures of my son on my primary IG account, and just post to his private account, so if you want to see more pictures of Baby M. (and I know you in real life), than please visit @babyboyholcomb.

My daily audience for breakfast.
I’d like to eventually make my @artwaif account public again, to help “promote my artwork”. BAH HA HAAAAAA.

After a long fussy weekend, the little dude amazed me by sleeping in till 9 o'clock this morning! πŸ™Œ
Last weekend I went to a consignment shop and bought him 4 shirts, two sweatshirts and a pair of socks for only 24$! I was proud. His feet just keep getting bigger and bigger! So does the rest of him. 2 months old and he’s wearing 3 month clothing.

This morning.⛅️
I wrangled him into the car seat today for another Bob walk. I feel so proud every time I manage to get us all out the door for a walk at the park! Someday it won’t be such a hassle.

Catching a few rays of sunshine (in fleece jackets).
Catching some March sun with my son, in fleece jackets. He didn’t fuss as much as I figured he would with the hood on. He seems to enjoy being outside…just like his parents!

Preeeetty much obsessed with designer @ashish_uk 😍🌈✨✨
Recently discovered designer Ashish and I’m pretty obsessed with everything he does–rainbows! Glitter! Kitsch! Right up my alley.

This little chunk is 2 months old today! πŸŽ‰
Two months old, and such a little chunk! He’s pretty happy in the morning. In the evening that “baby witching hour” kicks in from 4-8 and it’s fuss FEED fuss FEED fussss. Poor Josh, he doesn’t get to see all the smiles that I do.

Completed mini painting for my neighbor's dollhouse. Only took me two weeks! πŸ˜…(it's true what they say about babies, they take up allll your tiiiime)
Completed tiny painting for my neighbor’s dollhouse!

The recent tiny painting commission from my neighbor inspired me to buy a bunch of tiny canvases! Yay for starting new projects! 🎨
I was so inspired I just ordered a dozen tiny canvases (with easels!) to do a series. I already know who my first subject is going to be…Louise Brooks, of course!

🌞
I offered to do a free one for Christopher and Jenn for their dollhouses, and the rest I will put up for sale in my Etsy shop. Dollhouse art has its own niche!

New reading material.
Hoping to get through this book in the next…um, year. Heh.

Yesterday afternoon. I think we have the same squinty eyes! πŸ‘€
He likes to be held facing away from us, so sometimes I use my camera to see what his face looks like…and sometimes it looks like this! Happy little boy! I’m crazy about this kid.

Impulse buy. 7 cookies in one serving? HA.
Well, er…impulse buy at the grocery store led to binge eating led to an inflamed gum around my right lower molar! Coincidence? I think not.

Hey Maggie, placing the ball several feet away from me in a pool of stagnant water isn't what I meant by "bring it back". 😭
Sometimes Maggie thinks that dropping the tennis ball into the nearest disgusting pool of stagnant water is cute. Not so cute, Maggie.

That’s it? I wrote an entire blog entry during the last leg of a nap? Amazing! Maybe I even have time to start my Louise Brooks painting. Catch yer later!

Oh yes it’s Ladies Night, and the feeling’s right!

Oh yes it’s Ladies Night, and the feeling’s right!

πŸ’™
Hola blog! Mumsie is cuddling with Baby M. while I type out my weekly blog entry…while simultaneously holding a hot compress on my left nipple. Motherhood has made me a master class multitasker.

I thought I was over shows about zombies, but along came "Santa Clarita Diet". It's adorable!
This week’s nighttime viewing (while cluster feeding) show: “The Santa Clarita Diet”. Cutest show about zombies you’ll ever see. I was resistant to watching it at first, but hooked by the end.

First signs of spring hit our backyard! 🌱
Spring is starting to hit our backyard.

Sunny family walkies. πŸ’š
I love our family walkies.

Tummy Time to Deee-Lite radio on Pandora (note the dogs in the background).
This particular Tummy Time session was to Deee-Lite radio.

First family outing to a dog park: complete! 🌲
Last weekend (Saturday? Sunday? Who can say) we had our first outing to a big dog park. The BOB stroller handled the roots wonderfully! And although there was an initial screamfest in the car that required a breastfeeding session (in the garage, before take-off), the baby was quiet during the entire trip to the park, and both car rides. Phewwwwww. I know they have to cry occasionally. But I don’t have to like it!

Put in contacts today for the first time in ??? It's easy to let self-care slide while taking care of a newborn. Maybe in two weeks I'll be able to paint my toenails!
Feeling like myself again, including wearing contacts for the first time in ???. I even painted my toe-nails this week!

Wow. What an incredibly gorgeous mama.
We didn’t watch the Grammy Awards, but I caught a pregnant-with-twins Beyonce on Youtube the next morning and was blown away by her look, performance and whole vibe. Gorgeous. Almost makes me want to be pregnant again (JUST KIDDING).

What a beautiful day! 🌞
I enlisted the help of my friendly neighbor to watch Baby M. while I take the dogs for a quick daily walk, and it’s been wonderfully therapeutic. Especially when the sun is shining.

Afternoon disco dance party to Donna Summer radio..."Ladies Night" by Kool and the Gang really made him bop around.
Afternoon dance parties in the sunny nursery to “Ladies Night” are also fantastic! Look at this little man.

I had been waiting to put these booties on him, and now they're almost too small! He has big feet like his mom. So proud! πŸ‘£
I waited to put this adorable booties on him, and now at nearly 6 weeks old guess what? They’re too small! He sure has his mother’s big feet.

Josh and I don't normally celebrate Valentine's Day, but what the hay, motherhood has made me sentimental. Happy Valentine's Day! @djmagicelf πŸ’šπŸ’™β€(homemade card circa 2008, the year we got married)
Mothering a newborn made it impossible to go out and get Joshy anything for Valentine’s Day (or even the day before Valentine’s Day, which is what we usually celebrate). He brought me home a card, some little presents, and a heart-shaped chocolate cake though. He’s so gooooood.

Adorable homemade card from my MIL to Baby M.. πŸ’–
Love the monster card Fleeta made for Baby M.. She’s always so thoughtful.

Josh bought me this fun decorative ball last night, which immediately began shedding gold glitter all over our son. Eh, he's five weeks old, time to start experiencing what this household is all about! ✨🌟✨
Josh bought me this fun decorative ball, which immediately began shedding all over the house and our son’s head. Sparkle, baby!

Nature Cub! 🌲
These dogs follow me around the house allll day long. I suppose they always did, but I thought maybe Bear Cub would distance herself from the baby. Wrong! She’s a protective Cub.

The bright-eyed and calm moments are wonderful. And the smiles! I've requested more smiles! πŸ’™
This week he’s been smiling more and just recently started cooing at me, which I love so much there is no way I’m going to break focus and take a picture! So he looks serious in all of his pictures.

Monday. πŸ’™
So much love.

I have been so lucky this week to have someone watch the baby long enough for me to take the dogs for a walk...and 3 out of 4 of those days were sunny! Take THAT, crappy forecast! 🌞
My photos haven’t changed all that much, there’s just a lot more…baby.

Special thanks to @algae13 today, who allowed me to walk the dogs and eat a meal (without breast-feeding at the same time), and who cuddled Baby M. into a nap and lent us some groovy baby carriers! Mwah! 😘
Thursday Josh’s old boss came over in the morning and let me walk the dogs, eat lunch (without breastfeeding at the same time), snuggled the baby AND lent me some fancy schmnancy baby carriers to wear! This purple one is one of them. It’s similar to the Moby. He fussed at first but I hypnotized him by bouncing on the stability ball and then he chilled out.

Come on, spring!
More spring in the backyard.

Just ducky. πŸ’™
Spotted on our dog walk yesterday.

My mother visiting meant TWO dog walks today! Woo hoo! And look who decided to go for a swim on the way home. Labs.
Maggie dog had to jump in the nearest body of water right as we were leaving the park, of course!

Grandma and Baby M.. πŸ’•
Mumsie flew into town Thursday night, and it’s been wonderful having her here. Yesterday I was able to take two dog walks, and we brought home Hawaiian food to eat for dinner last night, mmmmm.

Somebody's been a little fussbucket the last two nights...but he's still awfully cute.
He’s had two super fussy nights in a row, but who’s counting? I’m pretty happy if I can piece together 5 hours of sleep per night.

Drizzly walk today. πŸ’¦
Today’s walk…oh, I hear my baby crying! I can’t believe I made it through this entire blog entry. Catch you later!
