My beach blanket she’s such a nature’s child

Village People?
Blawg! Don’t these little toys of Mr. Baby’s look like the Village People?

Mr. Baby allows me to do two or three quilt ties per day. At this rate, I'll have this quilt finished in 2019 or so.
Current project, tying this quilt that I started __ years ago. I’m only able to do 2-3 ties per day before WAHHHHH…so I should have it finished in 2019 or so.

Mmmm roses πŸ’•
Roses at my OLD job, when I stopped by for a TB test last week. Yes my OLD job, I haven’t worked there for over a month and I suspect I won’t be any time soon. LAME. It was only 7 minutes away from home, talk about the perfect commute.

A new flavor to try! Now they just need to make banana 🍌🍌🍌
My Summer of 2017 Mexican Popsicle Obsession is still going strong, and Fred Meyer’s had the elusive pecan flavor on my last trip. Verdict: not as good as coconut. That company really should release a banana flavor…I’d be all over it!

Finally had my nails done for the first time in over a year...they match my wallet! ✨✨✨
I won the chore chart and instead of requesting the usual massage (I don’t think I’ve had a decent, long massage since the baby’s been born anyway), I requested 3 hours of Just Liz time, and during that special time I went and had my nails shellacked. They match my wallet!

🌞
Josh is out with the baby and the dogs for a walk/nap. Lately I’ve transferred the sleeping baby from the stroller to the top of our dryer, turned the dryer on, and he naps non-stop until the cycle ends, 70 minutes later. I can get a lot done around the house in that amount of time!

This hydrangea in our backyard is the prettiest shade of purple. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ
My mother is concerned that Mr. Baby will use his Baby strength and somehow knock himself off of the dryer, but it’s impossible, that damn car seat weighs a TON.

A rare portrait of the elusive Bear Cub.
The air quality is terrible right now, thanks to lots of forest fires in Canada. The haze combined with the heat reminds me of Boise summers: YUCK.

It's so hot and muggy today my hair has already melted! πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦
After work this week, completely flat hair thanks to the heat. See that orange-y eye shadow? That’s not real, that’s Perfect365! Totally looks real.

Alright, #nature peeps--what kind of berries are these? I know they are not blackberries. But I would like to know what they are before I eat them. 😝
WHAT ARE THESE BERRIES? One bush of them pops up every year at the park. I’ve looked at all the various wild blackberry leaves, they don’t match. Either do raspberry and boysenberry. The leaves are really spiky and red-tipped. I haven’t tried to eat any, because what if they are poison?

This guy 😍
Mr. Gooey Goo. Such a sweet boy. He added in an extra wake-up at midnight this week (?), but finally last night slept through it, woke up at 4:30 for a Mommy feeding and then went back to bed until 6. That’s more like it!

Out for sushi on our 9th anniversary. It is soooo hoooot. πŸ’¦
Joshy and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary on the hottest day of the year by going out for sushi, sans baby. It was delish.

Floral anniversary present from Joshy. πŸ’•
He also bought me some flowers.

One of Josh's co-workers gave us this gorgeous hibiscus plant. 🌺
One of his co-workers gifted us with this giant, beautiful hibiscus plant. I hope we can keep it alive!

I love my backyard in the evening. πŸ’š
I love our backyard in the evening, so pretty. Smoke or not! Happy Summer, blog-logs.

Well if you want to sing out, sing out

Well if you want to sing out, sing out

Mom giving Bear Cub some lovin.
Happy Satur-yay, blog! Today is Mumsie’s last day here. We’re going to miss her a whole lot.

Read "The Color Kittens" to M. this morning, a gift from Mom. It's one of her favorites.
She brought Baby M. two of her favorite children’s books–“Goodnight Moon” and “The Color Kittens”.

Grandma and her first grandchild. πŸ’•
Just as soon as she figured out how to soothe him, she has to go home again. BOOOOOO.

Joy over Monte Cristo breakfast casserole YUM (thanks @dubtrance for the inspiration).
Christopher had been taunting me with offering up his breakfast Monte Cristo casserole recipe for ages but NEVER DELIVERING (as with so many things) so we went over his head and Googled the recipe and made it. Delicious!

Too bad my mother picked the week M. is going through a growth spurt to visit...we are SO TIRED! 😭Nevertheless, a family dog walk felt good.
I’ve walked the dogs every single day that Mom has been here, and then in the afternoon I’ve been stuffing M. into the Moby and we’ve gone for another walk. It’s been wonderful.

Waiting for Maggie to drop the ball.
Today I’d like to go for a full family walk before Brenna’s 40th birthday party at 4…if it stops snowing, that is. Gross.

Hard to believe that today would have been Kurt Cobain's 50th birthday. I still love him as much as I did 20+ years ago. πŸ˜₯
Brenna’s birthday party theme is “Come as you are”. I tried on my Kurt jeans from high school (too small) and my overalls from high school (too small), so I don’t know what the hell I’m gonna stuff my post-pregnancy bod into tonight, but at least I can wear sparkly eyeshadow and a choker, yeah? This past February 20th Kurt would have been 50 years old.

Art marker/ink, 2011. I made this drawing into a T-shirt design back when I had a Zazzle store. Remember Zazzle?
Lately I’ve been posting all my fun drawings from 2011 on IG, and it’s paid off! My old blog friend Liz bought “Neon Amish” last week!

M & M. β€πŸ’šπŸŒŸ
First we do Tummy Time on the mat to strengthen his little neck and shoulder muscles, then I flip him over and let him gaze at all the fun toys dangling.

Hey fellow IG seamstresses, it will now cost the same to fix my 20-year-old Singer as to buy a new one, anyone have any recommendations? I'm looking for a basic but heavy-duty machine.
Bob kindly fixed part of my broken sewing machine during their last visit with us, but unfortunately it broke again. Turns out it will probably cost less to buy a new Singer than repair my 20-year-old Singer, and my mother is offering to buy it for me, which is very kind of her. I just need to pick a machine.

Discovered two smile generators this week: tickling his chest and upper lip!
I’ve figured out how to make him smile and coo–by tickling his chest and upper lip. The cutest!

Advanced baby techniques: standing tall! πŸ’ͺ
Such a little man. Such stromph.

More adventures in babywearing: I loaded my big fat baby into the Moby and mom and I went for a quick walk. The sun even came out! 🌞
Babywearing in February involves zipping a jacket over the Moby and baby inside. Brrrr!

Clearly the boss around here these days. 🌈Vintage rainbow onesie thanks to my cousin Erika!
I couldn’t WAIT to get him into this vintage terrycloth rainbow onesie from Erika…and now it’s nearly too small!

More signs of spring. πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
My mother reminded me this morning that spring doesn’t start until March 21st. “Ugh,” was my reply.

Ooo-ooh February sunshine, you make me feel so fine 🌞
Desperately Seeking Sunshine.

Today we met an adorable 8-month-old black Lab named Maynard.
We’ve been meeting new dogfriends on our daily dog walks. This excited little dude’s name is Maynard.

Today we frolicked with a yellow Lab named Larry. πŸ’›
Maynard’s brother, Larry. So cute!

Fun cloud formations today. ☁️
Fun cloud formations.

Mumsie and I have been binge-watching "Will & Grace". 🌈
Mom and I have watched a lot of “Will & Grace” while she’s been here–I own seasons 3-8.

“I could watch Will and Grace all day long and never get tired of it,” she sighed the other day, prompting me to text Christopher immediately. She also cried when she found out Donna Summer was dead (she died in 2012). Never change, Mumsie!

The mens. πŸ’š
Such a good daddy.

"You say it's time to go home? Quick! Into the nearest body of water!" πŸ’¦
They always gotta get in the water right as we’re leaving the dog park.

Tired of looking at my baby? I'm not! He has his own private IG @babyboyholcomb if you are interested in more baby pics.
Love this picture. Love his rolls!

He looooves to bounce on the stability ball.
Bouncing on the stability ball will diffuse baby cries most of the time.

Wearing his bear shirt today, which is meant for three month old?? Apparently baby clothing sizing is as screwed up as women's.
Yesterday he wore his adorable bear shirt, which is sized “0 to 6 months”. Baby sizing is as screwy as women’s sizing!

Art marker/Sharpie, 2011. πŸ’–πŸŒŸβœ¨
Another drawing from 2011.

M. and Jen have a deep conversation.
Last night we had a visit from our old co-worker, Jen. She brought him baby books and had deep conversations with him.

Just as Mom cracks the baby code and figures out how to soothe him, she has to leave. 😭We're going to miss her a lot!
Mumsie soothing M. into a relaxed state while I scarf down an ice cream sandwich (important). Baby M. loves to fuss while I eat!

Snow’s gone, sun’s out and time to get these buns out! Ta ta, blog!

Let’s look back at 2016

Let’s look back at 2016

Hola blog! It’s that time of year when I force myself to do a yearly re-cap. I actually climbed onto the computer to print out a recipe for lactation cookies, but while I’m here, hells bells, why not re-cap what I did in 2016? Let’s take it month by month.

January 2016

Pre-surgery glamour, darling. πŸ’‹
Uterine polyp removal in preparation for IVF

– started hormone injections for IVF

– completed three heart-shaped Mandala paintings for sale HERE!

February 2016

Amazing glass at the Chihuly museum.
– Josh and I finally go to the Chihuly glass art museum downtown (worth it)

– ended the full-time job I’d had for the past couple of years, panicked for a week or two, and then signed on with a PRN position. Phewwwwww.

Pre-surgery for egg retrieval. They retrieved 14, above average! 🌟

– had my egg retrieval on my father’s 65th birthday (February 9th)

– found out that the two frozen embryos were both boys, and had a hearty laugh with my fertility doctor

– trimmed down coffee consumption from 3 cups a day to 1 cup (HELL)

March 2016

Is it done? Is it done yet? Finishing a painting is always the hardest part. πŸ’–πŸŒŸβœ¨
Finished the neon glitter Mandala, which is definitely one of my faves. Available here!

scenic pond
Josh and I go to the Seattle Arboretum, in spite of the fact that my back is all messed up. I never did figure out why I had back problems for a few days/weeks, but it suuuuucked.

Caftan Number 2 purchased. My Year of the Caftan is off to a good start! Now I need to stop buying and start sewing them myself, sheesh.
I decide that 2016 is going to be the Year of the Caftan and buy two caftans, to that end. (note: sitting here GIANT at 9 months pregnant, I can’t BELIEVE how tiny my waist looks in that caftan, sob!)

– painted our bedroom
– started going to an IVF support group

Getting ready to caucus this morning. 🌈
Caucused for Bernie! (SIGH)

April 2016

First time on Mt. Rainier. Are we having fun yet? 🌟
Josh and I had competed against each other earlier in the year for a “Dietbet” and he won (I’m pretty sure he cheated by fasting, but whatever). My “punishment” was that I had to go skiing, but by the time April rolled around and my back was finally not screwed up, not much skiing was to be found so I was “punished” by walking in snow on Mount Rainier instead. It wasn’t terrible!

Finished painting the guest room last night. The "true" colors are really hard to capture via photo, but it's "Soothing lavender" on the top and "Periwinkle dream" on the bottom. Hi Jerry!
Painted the guest room.

Olympic Sculpture Park.
Downtown Seattle fun with Fleeta and Bob–Pike Place Market, and checking out the Olympic Sculpture Park.

Embarking on an "easy" 5K this morning on Tiger Mountain. I panted like a dog the entire time. Josh is training for a marathon and didn't even break a sweat! πŸ’ͺ
First trail run! An “easy” 5K up Tiger Mountain.

– April 28th: the day of my IVF transfer! One perfect little male embryo, which the nurse exclaimed looked “better than textbook”. Aw yeah.

May 2016

– started progesterone suppositories for IVF

A couple of dorks touring a chocolate factory for funsies.
Josh and I tour the Theo chocolate factory for funsies (and distraction) and while there, get the Very Important Phone Call that I’m pregnant! YAYYYY! We immediately burst into happy tears. Such a special moment.

– first ultrasound, post-transfer

June 2016

dogs in nature
First camping trip! Not only did we set a camping record for us this year–five times–but I did every single one of those trips pregnant.

– I finish Corinne’s cat paintings and start a project for the guest room

First archery lesson tonight with Josh. 🎯🎯🎯
Josh and I take an archery class together. He’s better than I am, but I’m not too resentful about it.

– started going back to the gym

This maniac ran the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon in the rain this morning! πŸ’ͺ
Josh runs the Rock and Roll Marathon; I do not join him.

Little Ronia is growing up fast.
Josh leaves his hormonal pregnant wife for EIGHT WHOLE DAYS to go float down a river or something so I spend one night at Brenna’s, because I am so lonely. It’s not the daytime loneliness that bothered me, it was the nighttime.

July 2016

🚼
Posted our “official” (12 weeks) pregnancy announcement to all forms of social media

Bear Cub doesn't look like a bear cub any more! 😱
Bear Cub gets trimmed a little TOO much and is re-christened “Goat Cub”

– thanks to Groupon, I receive my first facial (overrated)

– went and got a shellac manicure for the first time since January…but very quickly realized that shellac manicures are a waste of money when you’re pregnant. Your nails grow too quickly!

Maggie takes it easy
Camping trip number two!

@djmagicelf and @corinne_spoja and I ready to see Die Antwoord tonight woot wooooot! 🌟
Baby’s first concert: Die Antwoord! With my Broad.

Maggie and Bear Cub splash around Hyas Lake. πŸ’¦
Camping trip number three!

Tonight I said goodbye to my VW Passat that I've had for the past 10 years. Good-bye old girl! You were so lovely in concept but such a problem child in reality!
Said good-bye to my VW Passat wagon, which I loved but caused me a great deal of trouble during our 10 years together…

Hey there, sexy. 😍
…and HELLO to this sexy blue Subaru outback, which I love but am a little sad that now I have to make 500$ car payments for every month. Heigh ho.

– Josh and I and the girls hike to Twin Falls (2.5 miles but much harder while pregnant)

Tonight! πŸ’–πŸŒŸβœ¨ Let's get celebritied up!
My Broad and I go see the new “Ab Fab” movie together. She tried to get out of it (twice!) but I wouldn’t let her. It was great!

FINALLY at the Mod Podge (i.e. last) stage of this painting. This little side project for the guest room ended up taking way longer than I thought! 🎨
Finally finish this Polly Apfelbaum rip-off painting for our guest room.

August 2016

In honor of #bumpday, here is my bump! He just popped out this week and I'm happy to finally look pregnant, not just like I've been eating too many donuts. 🍩
At 16 weeks pregnant, my belly POPS! Aw, look at how tiny and cute it was.

Josh bought me a little lemon tree for our anniversary. I hope I don't kill it immediately. πŸ‹πŸ‹πŸ‹
Joshy and I celebrate our 8-year anniversary…he bought me a little lemon tree. Would you believe it’s still alive? And on the back patio, yet? Amazing.

Camping love.
Camping trip number 4! The first actually warm trip, too. Thank goodness.

More progress on the Mandala.
Started a new Mandala painting, which ended up taking wayyyyyy longer than I thought it would to finish.

My crazy-ass husband doing a headstand on a paddle board. @djmagicelf 😘
A very special (final) camping trip to a private island, where I got to witness my husband doing a headstand on a paddleboard. Who knew he had hidden talents?

BUMP. Enjoying my "beauty room" for a few more months before it becomes the baby room.
At 18 weeks pregnant, I made the decision to quit weighing myself (a very smart decision and I highly recommend it). Of course, this was a little easier to do because Josh broke the scale right around that time. Tempting to just never buy a scale again!

Look at where Josh hiked to today without me--Blanca Lake! I've wanted to go for ages but it's too arduous for my pregnant body. 😭
Josh makes me mad by hiking one of my bucket list lakes without me, Lake Blanca. Heigh ho! He said it was HARD. Well then. GOOD.

My cute cousin Erika and her equally cute son Cash.
Erika and her two sons come for a visit! We go to Pike Place Market, she cooks for me AND sets up the crib and we have a fabulous time.

September 2016

Tonight we met Mr. Bennett. 😍
We meet Mr. Bennett–Ronia’s birthday present–for the first time.

Mumsie and me.
I spend a fun week in Boise with my parents and the Little Nipper, and feel Baby M. kick for the first time! So exciting!

Josh and his 90-year-old grandmother at breakfast this morning.
Josh and I drive to Spokane so he can climb a mountain with his father, while Fleeta and I do a little baby shopping. Then before we drive home, we have breakfast with his 90-year-old grandmother. Isn’t this a cute picture?

Got the baby room painted. I think it needs a cute border, though. Dinosaurs?
Finished painting the nursery, but found it kind of boring, so I start searching for the perfect wallpaper border.

First minkie/flannel blankie for my son: complete! βœ‚οΈ
Made a couple of minkie-and-flannel baby blankets for my son (this one was my favorite).

Putting up the dinosaur border in the nursery today. πŸ’š
Found the perfect border for the nursery–dinosaurs!

One last ultrasound today to make sure our little dude's heart is okay (it is). πŸ’–
Had a special ultrasound to make sure the little guy’s heart is okay…and of course it is!

October 2016

Today's art project was painting a friend's little neighborhood library. 🌈
Went over to Shoshanna’s house to paint her little free library

Made some green curtains for the nursery to match the dinosaur border. πŸ’š
Made some curtains for the nursery

The quilt I made my mother looks pretty good in our guest room.
Fleeta sweetly fixes up this quilt that I made for my parents and returns it to me, where it’s currently residing in our guest room. It looks pretty good in the guest room!

Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks?
Started ramp training the pets to prepare them for having to be in the BACK back of the car, once Baby M. comes

A couple of happy pregnant ladies in florals. We are due 2 weeks apart, with boys.
Josh and I attend our first non-work-related baby shower…

liz pregnant with Josh
…and the same afternoon, we take the tripod to the park and snap some maternity pics before the sun completely disappears.

Phase 3 of ombrΓ©-fying the free dresser: complete! We only spent money on the drawer pulls. Total cost: less than 20$.
We obtain a hideous brown dresser from “Buy Nothing” and completely transform it into this cool ombre work of art for the nursery! I guess Pinterest is good for something.

IMG_3975
My friend Espe, who is due two weeks after me with a boy, takes some beautiful maternity photos of me at a park, for free! She’s one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.

"That ain't no Etch-a-Sketch. This is one doodle that can't be un-did, Homeskillet." Happy Halloween from Juno and Paulie Bleeker!
Josh and I dress up as Juno and Paulie Bleeker from the film “Juno”. Not the most exciting Halloween costumes ever, but it’s really hard doing Halloween when you’re a big sweaty pregnant lady. We set up a grueling game of Scrabble in the parlor and handed out Halloween candy to the hoards of tricker treaters, and that was good enough for us!

November 2016

-voted, hoped for the best, found out the WORST, mourned for an entire day and then decided for the sake of my son that I couldn’t perseverate over the sadness. Also: pulled out my Happy Light that I hadn’t used since 2009 and started using it every morning!

The latest Mandala painting, fully glittered. Now I just have to decide if it's really "done", or just done because I'm sick of working on it! 😝
Finally finished this friggin’ Mandala painting, although I’m not totally satisfied with it and therefore haven’t listed it in my shop.

Four pregnant bellies all in a row, all due with boys early next year.
My cousin Erika comes to town and throws me the most fantastic baby shower at Brenna’s house, and still hasn’t sent me the pictures for it! Ha ha. I wonder if I’ll ever get them?

Delicious Indian dinner with family and friends.
My mother, aunt Claire, and cousin Katie also came into town for the shower. It was really wonderful. I felt very loved. And thank God, nobody brought up politics the entire time.

Lisa, who has been one of my good friends for almost 20 years, and her three goofy/adorable children.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, a drive to Spokane, and baby shower number two (I’m terribly spoiled), Josh and I got a HORRIBLE case of food poisoning from a local taco truck. We barely managed to scrape ourselves together to make the drive, but I’m glad we did. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with both sets of our parents and his grandmother, and then the next day I had another sweet baby shower and saw my ooooooold friend Lisa and all of her children! Maw.

My parents trying to feel their grandson kick. I was told this week he's measuring in the 92nd percentile. Already an overachiever! πŸ˜…
Love this picture of my parents trying to coax a kick from the baby.

December 2016

– finished up a painting for Baby M.’s room (this is when the link between Instagram and Flickr shit the bed, so I don’t have a picture)

– Josh and I spend my birthday/”Babymoon” at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle, relaxing and eating lots of things

– Josh gets heavily into glitter beards, and I support him!

– Owen invites me to participate in his annual art show, but I am too big and pregnant so we just attend the show instead and stay for an hour and a half. Still Good Times!

– Josh does up an elaborate glitter/tiny Christmas light beard, I wear a muumuu and we wrap me in Christmas bulbs, and we take our Christmas card picture!

Glittered up for Brenna's solstice party tonight. ✨
Winter Solstice party at Brenna’s house.

Josh and my Broad at grandma's tonight. ❀️❀️
I am too pregnant to travel, so we do Christmas Eve at Grandma Shirley’s, with the Broad…

Unicorn Snot! (with photobomb by Ronia) ✨🌟✨
…and the next day, we do Christmas Day at our house. Josh’s parents, sister and sister’s family all came over and we feasted on lasagna that I had made the day before, exchanged presents, and had a nice time. Our first Christmas at our house, and our last Christmas before the baby comes!

And that brings us up to date, blog logs! Stay tuned later this week and I’ll let you know how we PARTIED DOWN for New Years Eve, bwa ha haaaaa. 2016: you were one interesting year. I refuse to do what so many people on the Internet are doing, which is write-off the ENTIRE YEAR as crap, because this was the year that I finally got pregnant after 6 years of nonsense and there is no replicating that bliss. I can’t wait for 2017!

Sewing projects, cookies and painting a rainbow

Sewing projects, cookies and painting a rainbow

Nearly 25 weeks and feeling fine. 🌞
Hey-o! 25 weeks and 3 days, and feeling just fine. Although I did just buy a little battery-operated portable fan to take with me to work for a particular patient’s ridiculously hot room. For me! So I don’t have to flap a folder on my face for a half an hour or more. Gestating a human makes you HOT.

Only 24 weeks and look at all the clothing he has! My boy is gonna be one well-dressed little dude. Just like his mom. 😎
Look at all the clothes he already has! I’m a little concerned that everyone is just going to get me more clothes for my baby shower (on November 12th) instead of the registry items, but what can you do? Yesterday Amazon did notify me that a few items had been purchased from my lovely Aunt Lisa and my sweet cousin Susan, so that was a relief.

Cutie Cub! πŸ’•
I mean, I get it, the clothes are ADORABLE, and way more fun to buy than nipple cream or books about getting the baby to sleep or plastic caps to put over your light switches. But we need all that crap, too! We have been living in an Adult World for a very long time.

Hey fellow painters, ya know when you're really in the flow with a painting and you love working on it and the time flies? This painting has been the opposite of that. SO HARD. I keep painting over sections. Advice gladly taken!
Ugh, I swear this thing looks better photographed than it does in real life. It’s driving me craaaaazy, I keep re-painting over it. The struggle, oooh the struggle!

Beautiful crisp Fall day.
The weather is going PNW-Fall-style. Meaning, the forecast for the next 10 days is 60 degrees and cloudy. Merp.

#flashbackfriday: getting my make-up on at M.A.C. in NYC, one year ago.
Flashback! I never posted this last year. Here’s me getting my make-up done at M.A.C., in NYC. I kept insisting that the blush be BRIGHTER and consequently wound up with a neon pink blush that I just baaaarely touch the brush to, otherwise I look clown-ish. Which is not the look I’m going for.

I kind of get the feeling that my Poinsettia isn't coming back. Thoughts?
When I came back from Boise my Poinsettia looked like this. I guess it missed me?

The quilt I made my mother looks pretty good in our guest room.
Look at how good the quilt I made for my mom looks in our guest room!

Catching some sun at the park yesterday. 🌞
I didn’t mourn the end of summer as much as I normally do, but I am gonna miss that sunshine.

Good thing we played outside yesterday. Now the weather forecast is all ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️
You have to chase it, around here.

Made some green curtains for the nursery to match the dinosaur border. πŸ’š
I made baby M. some green curtains to coordinate with the dinosaur border. And by “made curtains” I mean I hemmed two rectangles of fabric on four sides! Yyyyyeah!

Eh, why not?
Not THAT great, but that didn’t stop us from inhaling the entire package over two days.

Today's art project was painting a friend's little neighborhood library. 🌈
On Sunday I went over to my old boss’s house to help paint the little library that her husband built on their front lawn. I went with a rainbow, of course!

A couple of pregnant ladies enjoying a sunny Fall day.
She is due this month with baby girl #2. She kindly lent me a really nice “Pea in the Pod” dress to wear to my shower next month. I wonder if it will still fit??!!

Clean up that nature! 🌲
Found object at the park yesterday. For cleaning up nature?

These Rose of Sharon are still blooming like crazy!
Meanwhile, these Rose of Sharon bushes are still blooming beautifully.

If you like shortbread (and butter), you have to try these cookies from Trader Joe's! Mmmmfffssss 😍
Now HERE are some cookies that you should pay attention to, especially if you like shortbread (I do I do) and BUTTER. YUM. 180 calories for two, but who’s (burp) counting? Ta ta for now!

Fall colors and sewing projects

Fall colors and sewing projects

Bear Cub in the sun. 🌾
Hey blerg! I almost forgot about you this week. Almost.

One last ultrasound today to make sure our little dude's heart is okay (it is). πŸ’–
Here I am at my special “bonus” ultrasound that only IVF patients have to have, to make sure the little dude’s heart is okay. It is!

Nerds in Love. πŸ’•
Here’s a couple of nerds out for a sunny dog walk, after that special ultrasound.

Putting up the dinosaur border in the nursery today. πŸ’š
More progress on the nursery: we put up a cute little dinosaur border. Now it looks like a real nursery!

🌞
I had my one-hour glucose test this morning to check for gestational diabetes, and I passed with flying colors. The range was 65-129, and my level was 68! Take THAT, sugar!

Pregnant lady on the beach!
On Sunday we went for an “easy” 2.5 mile hike to a new beach. Pre-pregnancy, piece of cake, but with this big ol’ belly I was panting like a dog.

These dogs love the beach. 🐚
Maggie and Bear Schnubs had a nice time playing on the beach.

Went fabric shopping for baby blankets and curtains and got a little...sidetracked...😍✨✨✨
Shopping for curtain and baby blanket fabrics and getting sidetracked by glitz, as usual.

πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š
I am 24 weeks and 4 days pregnant today. Nothing new to report, just lots of kicks from baby M.

Could this be? The last warm day of the year? Better spend it outside.
Pretty sure Monday was the last warm day of the year. I’m glad we spent some time outside.

Colors are starting to change. πŸ‚
Fall is definitely here.

Oh Fall! πŸƒπŸ‚πŸ
Love the bright colors!

Hey old buddy! My poor Singer is held together with electrical tape and dreeeeeaaaams. βœ‚οΈ
My poor Singer is currently held together with electrical tape and HOPE and DREAMS. It needs some repairs.

First minkie/flannel blankie for my son: complete! βœ‚οΈ
First flannel/minkie baby blanket complete! It’s a little sloppy (like all of my sewing), but I don’t think he’ll mind. What’s new with YOU, blogreader?

IKEA and quilts and fruits

IKEA and quilts and fruits

Me and Bear Cub down by the schoolyard. 🌿
Happy Tuesday, blerg. Horribly, Flickr/Instagram (I haven’t figured out who the culprit is) is doing this annoying thing when I upload my photos from Instagram to Flickr: only uploading about 1/4 of the images. I noticed it the last time I blogged but thought eh, maybe that was too many photos anyway but then I noticed it AGAIN today so I probably should complain. To someone.

Finally went to IKEA for the first time. I found it underwhelming (minimalism is not my thing), but the Swedish meatballs were πŸ‘.
I spent the last 4 days working and hanging out with my in-laws, who came into town mostly to repair some of the old fencing in the backyard that had been knocked over by a windstorm. Clearly I am pregnant (and therefore emotionally “soft”) because I let Fleeta talk me into going to IKEA, a place that I have purposefully avoided for years. Mainly because: 1. I don’t really like shopping 2. I don’t like shopping at big huge stores 3. Minimalism leaves a lot to be desired. Sure enough: SO BORING. However, the Swedish meatballs were tasty. Too bad my pregnancy-induced heartburn didn’t let me fully enjoy them. Heigh ho!

The dogs like to be close while I work out on the yoga mat. REAL close. πŸ’•
I did not work out, besides short walks, the entire time the in-laws were in town. And I ate SO MUCH. SOOOOOO MUUUUUUUUCH.

Patching up one of my quilts with my MIL and her mother. βœ‚οΈ
Turns out Fleeta loves doing what I hate: finishing quilts. I pulled out a quilt that I had made my parents a few years ago that needed some repairs, and her and Shirley and I did a “Stitch and Bitch” session, repairing it together. Maw.

Smiling Cub!
Fleeta offered to take the quilt back to Spokane with her to finish tying it (I tie less than 25% of my quilts–again, that whole “finishing a quilt” problem) and I said YES PLEASE!

#TBT to a couple of weeks ago when it was hot and sunny! C'mon weather, I'm ready for this again! 🌞🌈✨
Weeeeell this was a few weeks ago, the last time the weather was really nice. It’s coming back. In fact, this weekend at the place we like to go camping it’s supposed to be 90 degrees! I’ve already started pressuring Joshy into taking me camping this weekend.

Pretty pretty bright purple flowers. Anyone know the name?
Beautiful delphiniums.

Bear Cub playing hide and seek at the park today. She "disappeared" for a full 10 minutes. I was not amused!
Here’s Brat Cub playing hide-and-seek at the park with Mommy for about 10 full minutes the other day–boy was I mad!

Mmmm, cherries. πŸ’
I’ve been craving a lot of fresh fruit lately, but so far the only fruit that has lived up to my high taste expectations has been some incredible pineapple from Trader Joe’s. Mmmmmmm.

Surrendered to the succulent craze. These little guys were too cute to pass up.
Yes, I am a victim of the succulent trend and so what? Look at how cute they are!

Reposted from @captainandhound because MAWWW! 😍

Love that Mel Brooks!

Pregnancy check-in: I am currently 7 weeks and 1 day pregnant, and my little boy is the size of a blueberry. Other than the day we went to IKEA, when I had terrible heartburn and sort of a vague nausea all day (I blame the questionable expired lime juice I put in my hot water that morning), I have had no “morning” sickness. Boobs still hurt, and are HUGE. I’ve packed on a few pounds, but I’ve been eating everything in sight, so that’s to be expected. FOOD IS DELICIOUS, DID YOU KNOW THAT?

Crimson and clover, over and overrrrr...
In a couple of hours I go in for my first official ultrasound, which will be performed by my doctor at the clinic, who I haven’t seen since I’ve been pregnant. Josh is going to meet me at the clinic. Excitement! Excitement! Maybe I’ll get one of those smeary black and white ultrasound pictures too, who can say! Maybe it’s too early. Well. At any rate, I’m still looking forward to it.

In other news, my two week job ended, and I don’t have anything lined up until next week, so maybe I’ll blog again this week. If Flickr gets its shit together, that is. Oh yeah, I should probably e-mail them now.

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud.

Hey! You! Get off of my cloud.

Blooooog! Can you believe it’s been over a week since we’ve chatted? I wish I could say my absence was due to exciting thrilling fun times, but this week was basically a bust. A big fat, bloated, constipated, bloody bust, if you want to know the grim truth. Lots of naps. Very little exercise. Lots of fiber wafers. Listen, if you love your family, don’t eat fiber wafers.Β

I did make a couple of cute little skirts before The Suckiness that was this past week descended.

A sucky week is also no excuse to not walk your pets.

These wig heads…are incidental.

Y’know what’s pretty? Nature.

HEY this week wasn’t a total waste! Last night I had FULL highlights done for the very first time, courtesy of my #1 Hair Babe, Erika. Now my hair looks the same only a teeny tiny bit blonder, which let’s face it, can never be bad.

Tomorrow we are having a housewarming party! The maid has already been to clean today. I need to make some chili and cornbread and guacamole for the party tomorrow, and then try really hard not to eat all of it. Back later with pictures!
