Rainbows and mushrooms and new art

Rainbows and mushrooms and new art

Recently acquired neon rainbow ball. For, er, "the baby". 🌈
Hey blarg. Here’s a fun neon rainbow ball we bought at the costume shop “for the baby” (but really for ME).

Yes, yes I would. 🌈🌈🌈
You can find rainbows everywhere, if you want to.

Into it πŸ’–(thanks @chloemackey)
See?

I sat in an old Ford Mustang yesterday that was sitting for sale outside the tire place. It was kind of sexy.
Recently I had to go to the tire shop to have a tire fixed, and while I was waiting I noticed a classic Mustang for sale parked outside. It happened to be unlocked, so I happened to sit inside. I love old cars! My friend Stephanie suggested I put together an outfit and go back for a photoshoot. I like the way her mind thinks!

My mother has been texting me old photos. I love this one of my brother and I in McCall, Idaho--a little snow never stopped me from sunbathing! 😎
Here’s some nostalgia: my little brother and I in McCall, Idaho. I was a hardcore sunbather during my teenage years, snow be damned!

Summer of 2017 started out rainy and is ending beautiful and sunny. 🌞
Last day of summer! At least it was a sunny day.

Beanie weather already? So much for an Indian summer. πŸƒπŸ‚πŸƒ
Now it’s like, Fall and stuff over here. Harrumph.

The dogs wait up.
Actually I like Fall. It’s mostly still sunny, the colors are changing, the blackberries are ripe…mmmmmm…

A crocus blooming in September? Weird.
And yet my neighbor has crocuses blooming? Weeeeird.

Found this in the front yard. Weed?
We have some new things growing in our yard as well.

#tbt: "Portrait of Madame X", at the Met, NYC 2015. I took so many pictures on that trip, I have lots of favorites I never posted!
Would you believe I still have a bunch of never-posted NYC pictures from 2 years ago? Here’s “Portrait of Madame X”. Beautiful.

This might be the perfect weekend for a family nature hike. πŸƒπŸ‚πŸŒ²
I’m typing this with wet nails while my son crawls around the room trying to put everything in his mouth. Multi-tasking. Hard.

Portrait of a Woman Pumping at Work. πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦
Speaking of, here I am pumping at work the other day. Classy!

Family nature hike!
Family hike this weekend!

Beautiful Fall day. πŸŒ²πŸƒπŸ‚
So pretty!

That's a big leaf πŸƒ
I found a monster leaf…

Fungus among us. πŸ„
…mushrooms…

Oh, hello πŸ’™
And some crazy blue mushrooms!

Nature dogs are happy dogs. 🌿
The dogs were happy.

Farmer's Market today with Mr. Baby.
Yesterday we took the baby to a Farmer’s Market. I ogled pastries, crepes and pies, but only purchased a small box of strawberries.

Just my son, relaxing on Maggie's dog bed. πŸ˜‚
Mr. Baby decided to test drive Maggie’s dog bed.

New painting in my Etsy shop! My second rainbow glitter Mandala. 🌈✨✨✨
And I finally got around to posting the second rainbow glitter Mandala in my Etsy shop! HERE!

Oh now baby’s fussing. See ya later, alligators.

Flower Power

Flower Power

Another beautiful day! 🌞
Hellerrrr, blerrrrg. I can’t believe it’s June already.

Josh took the baby for a drive so I could have a little "me" time.
We are still going back and forth between weather like above–70’s, sunny fabbuu–to weather like today–overcast, low 60’s, blerp. Totally normal. Unless it’s an especially hot year, summer in Seattle doesn’t start until July.

My favorite of the Prey series. The bad guys are nicknamed "Big" and "Little".
I’m currently re-reading (saves $) all my Prey books. This particular one is probably my favorite–the bad guys are nicknamed “Big” and “Little”, and they are antique dealers.

Breastfeeding selfie. Belfie?
A breastfeeding selfie, because why not? I still do it all day long.

Dragonfly! πŸ’›
In real life this dragonfly was massive and silver. In the iphone photo he nearly blends into the flowering bush behind him.

Love the mood here (thanks @lulannie) πŸ’™πŸ’š
Spotted on IG. I love the colors.

My portrait of Brigitte Bardot, 2010. ✨✨✨
Josh has had a nasty cold for the past week and somehow, AMAZINGLY, Mr. Baby and I have not caught it. I know that his immune system is boosted by breast milk, but what about mine? How am I so lucky? It’s a first.

The little geisha painting is finally done! Now I just need a sunny day to photograph it properly for Etsy. ✨
Finally finished this sucker up. I was debating whether or not to paint calla lilies next or Marilyn Monroe, and then I just happened to flick on the TV and what should be playing but a MM marathon! And “Niagara”. BOOM DEBATE SOLVED.

Field of Doggy Dreams.
Flashback to one of my happy places: Marymoor Park and doggy dogs.

Salmonberries are blooming.
Salmonberries are popping up on our walks again.

The ivy in the backyard keeps expanding.
Will the ivy on the fence in the backyard keep spreading until it covers the entire back wall?

Baby M. on his colorful quilt from Aunt Kissy @dubtrance πŸ’–βœ¨βœ¨
Mr. Baby color-coordinating with the blankie that Aunt Kissy made him.

"Glitter Geisha" is available in my Etsy shop! πŸ’–βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
“Glitter Geisha”. For sale here! At only 30$, it’s practically a steal, Camille.

Neon in nature! (No editing needed)
A neon pink rose outside my work. No photo editing required.

It's Friday you say?!?
Friiiiidaaaaaaayyyyy doesn’t mean a whole lot because I work on Saturday.

Our three tomato plants.
Thanks to my MIL and the 435849 tomato plants she planted this year, we scored 3 baby plants to raise.

Rosy.
Stop and smell the roses! These ones smelled delicious.

I'm blue dah ba dee ba da doo...πŸ’™
Feeling BLUE yesterday.

Baby is down for a nap, dogs have been walked, pancakes have been inhaled (diet starts tomorrow, I SWEAR) (groan), now it’s time for me to go down to the basement and PAINT PAINT PAINT! Happy days, bloggeroos!

New painting and spring flowers

New painting and spring flowers

Spring-colored cauliflower. πŸ’›πŸ’œπŸ’š
Happy spring! (cauliflower). I’m blogging today before Christopher descends upon us sometime this evening. I already took the dogs and baby out for our daily walk, now the baby is down for what I hope will be a loooooong nap because the last couple of days he’s only taking one nap a day. Oof.

The magnolia tree is beginning to blossom.
Here comes the magnolia tree! I’m hoping to get a few pictures of it in full blossom before the coastal winds whip all the petals off. It’s a beautiful tree.

Today's color: Aqua (thanks @richardquartley)
Feeeeling everything about this gorgeous aqua photo, spotted on IG.

Lucite grapes and Kate Moss (both still for sale). πŸ‡
Meanwhile, the Lucite grapes painting sits next to Kate Moss in the parlor. I’m thinking a mini painting of Lucite grapes might be fun.

Family walkies.
Out for family walkies. Look at that big fat baby! Not even three months old yet.

Spying on the neighbors.
These two always find something to bark at when I put him down for a nap. Kind of similar to how they would always bark every time I would take a daytime shower (a thing of the past!).

Switched to my springtime sunglasses. 🌸🌸🌸
My mother asked if I had abandoned my bangs already after she saw this photo. Nah, I just don’t see any point in “doing” them if my only activities are walking the dogs at the park and then breastfeeding allll dayyyy looooong. You understand. Sometimes I put eyeliner on, though. And I wear earrings every day. Trying! Trying!

White blossoms on our walk today.
Not sure what this beautiful white-blossomed tree is in my neighbor’s front yard, but I think it’s pretty pretty!

Beautiful sunset tonight.
Beautiful sunset out of the nursery window.

Flying baby alert!
Oh these two cuties. My mother bought him those leggings with the dino feet and I’m LOVING THEM. He has so many cute clothes (that he is rapidly outgrowing).

Think pink πŸ’–
‘member this heart Mandala? Still for sale. I knocked the price all the way down to 80$ sometime last year and then just kept it there.

New mini painting in my Etsy shop! "Love is a Glitter VW". πŸ’–πŸŒŸβœ¨βœ¨
New mini painting! This little baby is called “Love is a Glitter VW” and it’s available HERE! I love this one. Give it long enough around the house and I probably won’t sell it at all.

Gorgeous day out there! 🌞
Ahhhh Monday the weather was so glorious. I made it a point to get outside as much as possible.

Chomping on a strawberry popsicle and enjoying the sun with Bear Cub on Monday.
In the afternoon I ate a strawberry popsicle and romped with Bear Schnubs outside in the backyard a bit.

Bear Cub!
She’s always a happy Cub outside!

M.'s first trip to the beach was nearly foiled when Josh and I both got stuck in quicksand! Luckily we didn't lose shoes (or a baby). Siiiiiigh.
When Josh got home from work, we packed up the whole fam and drove over to a beach park that we hadn’t been to in a long time. It was M.’s first beach experience, and it almost went VERY BADLY because as Josh and I were strolling to the water’s edge, we both got stuck in quicksand! As you can see from the picture, Josh went in all the way up to his thighs. I went up to my knees, and after I made it out stood there with my heart stopped, watching Josh struggle to get free…all the while with the baby strapped to his chest. Luckily he didn’t fall, and we didn’t lose a shoe, but it was an overall SUCKY (ha ha) experience and now I don’t trust that beach anymore. Dammit.

Love rocks.
I did see a heart-shaped rock, though. That was nice.

Water dogs! πŸ’¦
Other than the quicksand, it was a pleasant experience. Maybe we learned a lesson here…don’t trust the shoreline. Especially when you have a baby attached to your body.

Graffiti in nature
I’ve always liked that particular graffiti: “Not all who wander are lost“.

Maude braids.
First attempt at Maude braids in a long time, yesterday. Today’s version went a little smoother.

πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’š
And that brings us to today’s monster butt! I’ll be back next week with pictures of our antics with Aunt Kissy. Always a good time!

Sexy shows and spring flowers

Sexy shows and spring flowers

I'm binge-watching "Sex and the City" during my breast-feeding marathon sessions. Most of Carrie's style I find hideous, but I did like this rainbow dress. 🌈
Happy Friday, blerg! Can you believe tomorrow is April already??! During my breastfeeding couch marathons, I’m working my way through “Sex and the City” (again). I started at Season 4 and watched it through to the end; now I’m back at Season 1. I hate 96% of Carrie’s outfits but this little rainbow dress was cuuuute. I also cried approximately 5 times while watching this show. Motherhood changes you. I am a total sap now.

I'd totally wear these grape earrings that Samantha has on in Season 6. πŸ‡
I also like these grape earrings Samantha is wearing near the end of Season 6.

Josh re-finished this table into a sexy shiny teal and aqua. πŸ’¦
Check out the sexy paint job that Josh did on this unfinished wooden table his parents dumped under our back patio. Maybe someday he’ll paint the unfinished chairs to match! Ooooh, ahhhh.

These just popped up in the front yard--periwinkles?
Dear Spring, I love you and all of your flowers and crisp sunny days. Hey, is that trash? Funny that I didn’t notice it while I was taking the picture.

Christina came by for a visit. πŸ’™
A week ago we had a visit from one of Josh’s co-workers. She brought M. a fun children’s book about dogs and a stuffed elephant, gave him lots of snuggles and then went on a house tour with us where she paid attention to ALL of the art (something that very few houseguests do–what a treat!).

Florals for homes? Into it! (thanks @jasoncampbellstudio) 🌸
Spotted on IG–spring florals for your home exterior? I’d do it.

I've started a new line of miniature dollhouse paintings! Each one comes with a tiny easel that I handpaint/hand-glitter. First up is Louise Brooks! Check out my Etsy shop for details, http://ift.tt/1vbQsot 🌟✨✨
It’s the first in my new line of miniature/dollhouse paintings! This was really fun to do. It’s for sale in my Etsy shop, HERE.

Currently reading for the first time. I know, it's a children's book...but it's about all my baby brain can handle at the moment. Geez the "Great Brain" sure is a hustler.
Found this in the bookcase and I’m giving it a spin. It’s a children’s book, but as it turns out my baby brain can’t handle anything too…er, complex. The “Great Brain” is a major hustler! I keep getting irritated at him on the main character’s behalf. Too bad I got rid of my Ramona Quimby books, I bet I’d enjoy those right about now.

Finally caved and bought myself some "walking" shoes...between the plantar fasciitis and giant baby boobs, I'm not gonna be running for a while. 😭
I finally bit the bullet and bought myself some decent “walking” shoes, since all I’m doing is walking these days and all of the Brooks barefoot running shoes I have aggravate the hell out of my plantar fasciitis, which hurts every day all day long. Thank goodness just in my left foot, but still, UGH KNOCK IT OFF, BODY.

Minty fresh. 🌿
I’ve started painting my nails again. I enjoy a pastel nail for springtime.

Spring hits the bowling ball garden.
A lone daffodil popped up in the bowling ball garden.

Hoopers! Art marker/Sharpie, 2011.
Corinne got me thinking about hooping again. I could always dust off the hoop and have some fun in the backyard…after I picked up all the dog poop, of course. Gross.

Maggie dog, begging for ________.
Who’s that shaggy dog?

Help Mumma sweetie darlingggg how can I watch Season 9 of RPDR without cable??! I'm not seeing full episodes available on Logo. 😭
DEPRESSED because RuPaul’s Drag Race, my favorite reality TV show of all time, switched from Logo to VH1 and for some horrible reason the full episodes of the new season aren’t available to watch on Logo. WHY RU WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME? There has GOT to be a way I can watch it without cable. Who in the hell has cable these days, anyway? Seriously.

Wig Wednesday: fun dress-up night number 36546765 with the Broad and Josh, circa 2011.
2011, a year that I was apparently skinny. Look at those arms! Sob! I never appreciated it. Youth is wasted on the young.

Painted over the first Joan Crawford painting and chose another pose. Let's try this again! πŸ˜…
The current Joan Crawford painting was giving me fits so I painted over the whole damn thing, chose a different pose from the same session, and started over. I rarely paint over paintings but it was that bad.

Color inspiration! (thanks @taxcollection) 🌈
More spring color inspiration, thanks to Instagram.

Spotted a low rainbow today. Can you see it? 🌈
Yesterday I spotted a very low-hanging rainbow in the sky. Can you see it?

Had a long overdue haircut tonight by the fabulous @erikaniklason3. She always makes me feel pretty pretty! πŸ’™
Finally (it happened to me) I got a haircut! I was so overdue. I tried cutting my bangs myself a few weeks ago and it was hopeless, they had grown out too much. Speaking of haircuts, Christopher aka Kissyfur aka Smitty is coming into town next week, and promises to do something with Josh’s current mop. Hooray!

In the front yard. πŸ’•πŸŒΈ
Spotted this morning in the front yard.

Beautiful morning for a baby/dog walk.
We went for an earlier-than-usual baby/dogwalk today, but that’s what happens when you’re up at 5:30 in the morning. However, I can’t complain…Baby M. has slept through the night for the last 4 nights in a row! Squeal! Squeak! I knew he could do it! Catch you later, blog-logs.

Grunge, art and cuteness

Grunge, art and cuteness

Dressed up in our 90s gear for Brenna's "Come As You Are" 40th b-day party.
How’s it going, blog? Here’s the grunge family dressed up for Brenna’s 40th birthday/”Come As You Are” celebration last Saturday.

Doc Martens? Check. Ripped jeans? Of course. I also wore a hemp choker, Bindi, lots of frosty eyeshadow and mushroom earrings. Lord, the 90s doesn't seem THAT long ago! 😭
Luckily back in the actual 90’s everything was baggy, not like today’s skintight everything, so I was able to wear my little polyester shift dress that I bought in that little indie store in Boise that used to be next to the Record Exchange. Plus my new Docs, black leggings…

Grunge family.
…a hemp necklace (made by Lisa), Bindi, mushroom earrings and lots of silver glitter and MAC shimmer! Josh wore my old Kurt jeans from high school (it was gratifying to see that they were also too small for him), a flannel, Bob Marley shirt and Docs. Baby M. wore his adorable star jammies, because his black Converse are too big for him.

One last shot with yesterday's party outfit.
We couldn’t stay long at the party because we had to drive Mumsie to the airport that same evening, but it was fun while we were there. M. started fussing during the car ride home and I gave him an “emergency” bottle of formula…he sucked the entire thing down! This kid is insatiable!

Who's a happy outdoors Cub?
He’s down for a nap currently while I type this out. I managed to get in a phone call with Mumsie AND eat a grilled cheese sandwich during his nap…I wonder how far into this blog entry I’ll get?

Prismacolor pencil/art marker/ink, 2011.
Another drawing from 2011. I stumbled upon this series while searching for “Neon Amish” to send to blogfriend Liz and have enjoyed posting them on Instagram.

Fleeta and Shirley enjoy some baby faces.
After my mother left us Saturday evening, Fleeta and Bob stayed over Sunday and Monday night. Great-grandparents Lew and Shirley came over for a visit on Sunday afternoon, which was nice.

Baby M.'s doggy quilt by Grandma Fleeta is complete! So sweet.
Fleeta finished his doggy quilt! I LOVE IT.

Hey there smiley guy! πŸ’™
A lot more smiles and coos lately. Such a sweet boy…when he doesn’t have gas.

Bob took a turn babysitting while Fleeta and I went out to look at sewing machines...we were able to leave the house for about 30 minutes before we got the SOS text. πŸ˜‚
Fleeta and I left to go to a nearby sewing shop to check out sewing machines on Monday…we were gone less than 30 minutes when Bob frantically texted us to come back. He had even given M. an “emergency” bottle of formula! Oh well. We tried. In the meantime, my Singer is still working thanks to electrical tape and a rubber band.

Hey snow, maybe you were "cute" back in December but it's almost March so ENOUGH ALREADY.
The weather flirted with snow during their stay, but luckily (for now) washed away with the rain.

Brrrrrr.
I would prefer to not see any more snow, please, and thank you, until…December.

Currently watching: "Abstract: The Art of Design" on Netflix. It's really good.
Fleeta recommended “Abstract: The Art of Design” on Netflix to us, and we watched the first two episodes with them. It’s really good!

Let's go frolic in a forest! 🌲
The dogs are currently snoozing at my feet as I type this.

FINALLY: at 7 weeks old, I managed to get him in the car seat with a minimum of fussing, put the car seat in the Bob and walk the dogs by myself! Seems so simple but has been so hard. πŸ˜…
Very proud of myself this week for being able to get the kid into the carseat, put the carseat into the BOB stroller and get us all out the door for a walk not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES! HA!

Happy Mardi Gras! I think my son owes me some beads, after all I do flash him all day long! πŸ˜‚
I told my son he owed me Mardi Gras beads for flashing him all day long.

My neighbor/occasional babysitter has commissioned a teeny tiny painting from me for the dollhouse she's building. It's going to go in the teenage girls' room. I'm having fun with it! 🌈
My neighbor/occasional babysitter commissioned from me a teeny-tiny painting to go in the teenage girl’s bedroom of the dollhouse she’s building. She gave me complete creative reign, which I love, and this is where my brain took me.

Cookie Still Life: with Pacifier.
Trying to cut out the constant stream of cookies and ice cream in our diets and it’s haaaaaard. One day at a time!

Seven weeks old as of last night, and I think he just keeps getting cuter. πŸ’•
Is he the cutest or what? I might be biased, but I still think he’s the cutest.

Loving these smiles.
I mean COME ON.

A black Lab on a black Lab quilt. πŸ’™
Maggie dog says, “And what am I, chopped liver?

Anna May Wong, mixed media (including glitter that isn't showing up here ✨), 2011. Props to @dubtrance for introducing her to me.
Another drawing from 2011 of Anna May Wong. I like this one.

#tbt self-portrait with grapes, 2009. I painted this photo and then sold the painting! πŸ‡
‘member this? I painted this self-portrait and then sold the painting! That was a good year.

This would be a fun painting project. Turn those earth tones into cuh-luh! 🎨🌈
This Day of the Dead yard art needs some CUH-LUH…I think every time I see it.

What? I wrote an entire blog entry without a baby crying??? Amazing. Ta ta for now.

Let’s look back at 2016

Let’s look back at 2016

Hola blog! It’s that time of year when I force myself to do a yearly re-cap. I actually climbed onto the computer to print out a recipe for lactation cookies, but while I’m here, hells bells, why not re-cap what I did in 2016? Let’s take it month by month.

January 2016

Pre-surgery glamour, darling. πŸ’‹
Uterine polyp removal in preparation for IVF

– started hormone injections for IVF

– completed three heart-shaped Mandala paintings for sale HERE!

February 2016

Amazing glass at the Chihuly museum.
– Josh and I finally go to the Chihuly glass art museum downtown (worth it)

– ended the full-time job I’d had for the past couple of years, panicked for a week or two, and then signed on with a PRN position. Phewwwwww.

Pre-surgery for egg retrieval. They retrieved 14, above average! 🌟

– had my egg retrieval on my father’s 65th birthday (February 9th)

– found out that the two frozen embryos were both boys, and had a hearty laugh with my fertility doctor

– trimmed down coffee consumption from 3 cups a day to 1 cup (HELL)

March 2016

Is it done? Is it done yet? Finishing a painting is always the hardest part. πŸ’–πŸŒŸβœ¨
Finished the neon glitter Mandala, which is definitely one of my faves. Available here!

scenic pond
Josh and I go to the Seattle Arboretum, in spite of the fact that my back is all messed up. I never did figure out why I had back problems for a few days/weeks, but it suuuuucked.

Caftan Number 2 purchased. My Year of the Caftan is off to a good start! Now I need to stop buying and start sewing them myself, sheesh.
I decide that 2016 is going to be the Year of the Caftan and buy two caftans, to that end. (note: sitting here GIANT at 9 months pregnant, I can’t BELIEVE how tiny my waist looks in that caftan, sob!)

– painted our bedroom
– started going to an IVF support group

Getting ready to caucus this morning. 🌈
Caucused for Bernie! (SIGH)

April 2016

First time on Mt. Rainier. Are we having fun yet? 🌟
Josh and I had competed against each other earlier in the year for a “Dietbet” and he won (I’m pretty sure he cheated by fasting, but whatever). My “punishment” was that I had to go skiing, but by the time April rolled around and my back was finally not screwed up, not much skiing was to be found so I was “punished” by walking in snow on Mount Rainier instead. It wasn’t terrible!

Finished painting the guest room last night. The "true" colors are really hard to capture via photo, but it's "Soothing lavender" on the top and "Periwinkle dream" on the bottom. Hi Jerry!
Painted the guest room.

Olympic Sculpture Park.
Downtown Seattle fun with Fleeta and Bob–Pike Place Market, and checking out the Olympic Sculpture Park.

Embarking on an "easy" 5K this morning on Tiger Mountain. I panted like a dog the entire time. Josh is training for a marathon and didn't even break a sweat! πŸ’ͺ
First trail run! An “easy” 5K up Tiger Mountain.

– April 28th: the day of my IVF transfer! One perfect little male embryo, which the nurse exclaimed looked “better than textbook”. Aw yeah.

May 2016

– started progesterone suppositories for IVF

A couple of dorks touring a chocolate factory for funsies.
Josh and I tour the Theo chocolate factory for funsies (and distraction) and while there, get the Very Important Phone Call that I’m pregnant! YAYYYY! We immediately burst into happy tears. Such a special moment.

– first ultrasound, post-transfer

June 2016

dogs in nature
First camping trip! Not only did we set a camping record for us this year–five times–but I did every single one of those trips pregnant.

– I finish Corinne’s cat paintings and start a project for the guest room

First archery lesson tonight with Josh. 🎯🎯🎯
Josh and I take an archery class together. He’s better than I am, but I’m not too resentful about it.

– started going back to the gym

This maniac ran the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon in the rain this morning! πŸ’ͺ
Josh runs the Rock and Roll Marathon; I do not join him.

Little Ronia is growing up fast.
Josh leaves his hormonal pregnant wife for EIGHT WHOLE DAYS to go float down a river or something so I spend one night at Brenna’s, because I am so lonely. It’s not the daytime loneliness that bothered me, it was the nighttime.

July 2016

🚼
Posted our “official” (12 weeks) pregnancy announcement to all forms of social media

Bear Cub doesn't look like a bear cub any more! 😱
Bear Cub gets trimmed a little TOO much and is re-christened “Goat Cub”

– thanks to Groupon, I receive my first facial (overrated)

– went and got a shellac manicure for the first time since January…but very quickly realized that shellac manicures are a waste of money when you’re pregnant. Your nails grow too quickly!

Maggie takes it easy
Camping trip number two!

@djmagicelf and @corinne_spoja and I ready to see Die Antwoord tonight woot wooooot! 🌟
Baby’s first concert: Die Antwoord! With my Broad.

Maggie and Bear Cub splash around Hyas Lake. πŸ’¦
Camping trip number three!

Tonight I said goodbye to my VW Passat that I've had for the past 10 years. Good-bye old girl! You were so lovely in concept but such a problem child in reality!
Said good-bye to my VW Passat wagon, which I loved but caused me a great deal of trouble during our 10 years together…

Hey there, sexy. 😍
…and HELLO to this sexy blue Subaru outback, which I love but am a little sad that now I have to make 500$ car payments for every month. Heigh ho.

– Josh and I and the girls hike to Twin Falls (2.5 miles but much harder while pregnant)

Tonight! πŸ’–πŸŒŸβœ¨ Let's get celebritied up!
My Broad and I go see the new “Ab Fab” movie together. She tried to get out of it (twice!) but I wouldn’t let her. It was great!

FINALLY at the Mod Podge (i.e. last) stage of this painting. This little side project for the guest room ended up taking way longer than I thought! 🎨
Finally finish this Polly Apfelbaum rip-off painting for our guest room.

August 2016

In honor of #bumpday, here is my bump! He just popped out this week and I'm happy to finally look pregnant, not just like I've been eating too many donuts. 🍩
At 16 weeks pregnant, my belly POPS! Aw, look at how tiny and cute it was.

Josh bought me a little lemon tree for our anniversary. I hope I don't kill it immediately. πŸ‹πŸ‹πŸ‹
Joshy and I celebrate our 8-year anniversary…he bought me a little lemon tree. Would you believe it’s still alive? And on the back patio, yet? Amazing.

Camping love.
Camping trip number 4! The first actually warm trip, too. Thank goodness.

More progress on the Mandala.
Started a new Mandala painting, which ended up taking wayyyyyy longer than I thought it would to finish.

My crazy-ass husband doing a headstand on a paddle board. @djmagicelf 😘
A very special (final) camping trip to a private island, where I got to witness my husband doing a headstand on a paddleboard. Who knew he had hidden talents?

BUMP. Enjoying my "beauty room" for a few more months before it becomes the baby room.
At 18 weeks pregnant, I made the decision to quit weighing myself (a very smart decision and I highly recommend it). Of course, this was a little easier to do because Josh broke the scale right around that time. Tempting to just never buy a scale again!

Look at where Josh hiked to today without me--Blanca Lake! I've wanted to go for ages but it's too arduous for my pregnant body. 😭
Josh makes me mad by hiking one of my bucket list lakes without me, Lake Blanca. Heigh ho! He said it was HARD. Well then. GOOD.

My cute cousin Erika and her equally cute son Cash.
Erika and her two sons come for a visit! We go to Pike Place Market, she cooks for me AND sets up the crib and we have a fabulous time.

September 2016

Tonight we met Mr. Bennett. 😍
We meet Mr. Bennett–Ronia’s birthday present–for the first time.

Mumsie and me.
I spend a fun week in Boise with my parents and the Little Nipper, and feel Baby M. kick for the first time! So exciting!

Josh and his 90-year-old grandmother at breakfast this morning.
Josh and I drive to Spokane so he can climb a mountain with his father, while Fleeta and I do a little baby shopping. Then before we drive home, we have breakfast with his 90-year-old grandmother. Isn’t this a cute picture?

Got the baby room painted. I think it needs a cute border, though. Dinosaurs?
Finished painting the nursery, but found it kind of boring, so I start searching for the perfect wallpaper border.

First minkie/flannel blankie for my son: complete! βœ‚οΈ
Made a couple of minkie-and-flannel baby blankets for my son (this one was my favorite).

Putting up the dinosaur border in the nursery today. πŸ’š
Found the perfect border for the nursery–dinosaurs!

One last ultrasound today to make sure our little dude's heart is okay (it is). πŸ’–
Had a special ultrasound to make sure the little guy’s heart is okay…and of course it is!

October 2016

Today's art project was painting a friend's little neighborhood library. 🌈
Went over to Shoshanna’s house to paint her little free library

Made some green curtains for the nursery to match the dinosaur border. πŸ’š
Made some curtains for the nursery

The quilt I made my mother looks pretty good in our guest room.
Fleeta sweetly fixes up this quilt that I made for my parents and returns it to me, where it’s currently residing in our guest room. It looks pretty good in the guest room!

Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks?
Started ramp training the pets to prepare them for having to be in the BACK back of the car, once Baby M. comes

A couple of happy pregnant ladies in florals. We are due 2 weeks apart, with boys.
Josh and I attend our first non-work-related baby shower…

…and the same afternoon, we take the tripod to the park and snap some maternity pics before the sun completely disappears.

Phase 3 of ombrΓ©-fying the free dresser: complete! We only spent money on the drawer pulls. Total cost: less than 20$.
We obtain a hideous brown dresser from “Buy Nothing” and completely transform it into this cool ombre work of art for the nursery! I guess Pinterest is good for something.

My friend Espe, who is due two weeks after me with a boy, takes some beautiful maternity photos of me at a park, for free! She’s one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.

"That ain't no Etch-a-Sketch. This is one doodle that can't be un-did, Homeskillet." Happy Halloween from Juno and Paulie Bleeker!
Josh and I dress up as Juno and Paulie Bleeker from the film “Juno”. Not the most exciting Halloween costumes ever, but it’s really hard doing Halloween when you’re a big sweaty pregnant lady. We set up a grueling game of Scrabble in the parlor and handed out Halloween candy to the hoards of tricker treaters, and that was good enough for us!

November 2016

-voted, hoped for the best, found out the WORST, mourned for an entire day and then decided for the sake of my son that I couldn’t perseverate over the sadness. Also: pulled out my Happy Light that I hadn’t used since 2009 and started using it every morning!

The latest Mandala painting, fully glittered. Now I just have to decide if it's really "done", or just done because I'm sick of working on it! 😝
Finally finished this friggin’ Mandala painting, although I’m not totally satisfied with it and therefore haven’t listed it in my shop.

Four pregnant bellies all in a row, all due with boys early next year.
My cousin Erika comes to town and throws me the most fantastic baby shower at Brenna’s house, and still hasn’t sent me the pictures for it! Ha ha. I wonder if I’ll ever get them?

Delicious Indian dinner with family and friends.
My mother, aunt Claire, and cousin Katie also came into town for the shower. It was really wonderful. I felt very loved. And thank God, nobody brought up politics the entire time.

Lisa, who has been one of my good friends for almost 20 years, and her three goofy/adorable children.
Just in time for Thanksgiving, a drive to Spokane, and baby shower number two (I’m terribly spoiled), Josh and I got a HORRIBLE case of food poisoning from a local taco truck. We barely managed to scrape ourselves together to make the drive, but I’m glad we did. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with both sets of our parents and his grandmother, and then the next day I had another sweet baby shower and saw my ooooooold friend Lisa and all of her children! Maw.

My parents trying to feel their grandson kick. I was told this week he's measuring in the 92nd percentile. Already an overachiever! πŸ˜…
Love this picture of my parents trying to coax a kick from the baby.

December 2016

– finished up a painting for Baby M.’s room (this is when the link between Instagram and Flickr shit the bed, so I don’t have a picture)

– Josh and I spend my birthday/”Babymoon” at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle, relaxing and eating lots of things

– Josh gets heavily into glitter beards, and I support him!

– Owen invites me to participate in his annual art show, but I am too big and pregnant so we just attend the show instead and stay for an hour and a half. Still Good Times!

– Josh does up an elaborate glitter/tiny Christmas light beard, I wear a muumuu and we wrap me in Christmas bulbs, and we take our Christmas card picture!

Glittered up for Brenna's solstice party tonight. ✨
Winter Solstice party at Brenna’s house.

Josh and my Broad at grandma's tonight. ❀️❀️
I am too pregnant to travel, so we do Christmas Eve at Grandma Shirley’s, with the Broad…

Unicorn Snot! (with photobomb by Ronia) ✨🌟✨
…and the next day, we do Christmas Day at our house. Josh’s parents, sister and sister’s family all came over and we feasted on lasagna that I had made the day before, exchanged presents, and had a nice time. Our first Christmas at our house, and our last Christmas before the baby comes!

And that brings us up to date, blog logs! Stay tuned later this week and I’ll let you know how we PARTIED DOWN for New Years Eve, bwa ha haaaaa. 2016: you were one interesting year. I refuse to do what so many people on the Internet are doing, which is write-off the ENTIRE YEAR as crap, because this was the year that I finally got pregnant after 6 years of nonsense and there is no replicating that bliss. I can’t wait for 2017!

Art, dogs, and more dogs and some more art

Art, dogs, and more dogs and some more art

Bought this triptych at a thrift store earlier this year, pre-pregnancy, and wouldn't you know it? It matches the nursery perfectly. πŸ’š
Hey blerg, what’s happening? “Happy” Election night, bwa ha ha haaaaaa. I’ve been in denial about the friggin’ election all day, which has worked for me pretty well. Look at how well the triptych painting set I bought earlier this year matches the nursery! Oooooh!

What's better than a new season of "Trailer Park Boys"? The TPB meet Noel Fielding! 😍
Turns out even in my highly emotional third trimester, the offensive “Trailer Park Boys” are still hilaaaaaarious. We watched their latest series “Out of the Park” this week, where they travel to Europe. In the first episode they meet Noel Fielding and his weird brother Michael!

Today. πŸ’š
So much rain and gloom lately, that when it’s sunny outside (like today), I am almost FRANTIC to be out enjoying it. Praise the Lord that I don’t have to work 8 hours a day.

Ooh boy did I need this today! 🌞
This is last week on Thursday. Even after working two jobs with aching feet, the sunshine felt so good.

Beautiful Fall dahlias.
My neighbor’s dahlias. In real life, they were a dark burgundy color, but they look red with my phone.

πŸ‚
Love this picture of Bear Schnubs. It’s very Fall-ish.

Up to see the sunrise this morning. πŸ’™
I had about three days in a row of waking up at 5:30, so yesterday when I was able to sleep in until 7:30 (like the good old days of my first trimester!) it felt like heavennnnn. And why do people keep telling me “Get your sleep in now”? Pregnant women don’t sleep well! More like, “I hope you got all the sleep in you ever wanted/needed BEFORE you got pregnant” would be more appropriate.

My Russian nesting doll tee is swelling...
I am 30 weeks and 3 days pregnant, and my pregnancy app claims that my child is the size of a “butternut squash”–one that is 17 inches long and 3.1 pounds? Hmmmmmm.

Maggie and Mr. Bennett face off.
So the BIG news of the weekend (it’s been a slow week around here, kids) is that we had a little furry houseguest! Mr. Bennett, my sister-in-law’s 5-month old Coton de Tulear (I’ve had to look up that spelling at least 8 times, and I think I finally got it right).

We're dogsitting this little furball all weekend 😍
Jerry was at Australian PAX and Brenna and the kiddies had a preschool reunion (?!) for Ronia to attend up in the mountains, no dogs allowed, so would we mind dogsitting Mr. Bennett? Are you kidding?

Mr. Bennett loves Maggie. πŸ’•
Mr. Bennett was adorable and charming and sweet and cuddly and really pretty mellow for such a young dog. His only problem is that he’s not housebroken, and they trained him on puppy pads, so he immediately began pooping and peeing all over Maggie’s dog beds and every rug in the house within an hour of his arrival. Roops.

It was a three dog morning.
My 30-week-belly makes bending over challenging, too, and I had to bend over to pick up poop and pee a LOT. Good thing Mr. Bennett was so charming.

Mr. Bennett looking cute today (with Maggie standing guard). Now I have three dogs following me around the house! πŸ’•
I mean, could you stay mad at this face? Of course not.

Mr. Bennett spooning Maggie πŸ’•
Maggie was so good, so incredibly tolerant of him. Bear Cub pretty much peaced out all weekend and stayed away.

An 11-year-old dog having fun with a 5-month-old dog this morning.
Look at this 11-year old dog playing with a 5-month old dog! Mawwwww.

Incontinence aside, Mr. Bennett was a very well-behaved houseguest this weekend. πŸ’š
Oh little Mr. Bennett, you are welcome back any time. And hopefully next time, you’ll be potty trained.

Here comes the sparkle ✨✨✨
In other news, I am VERY CLOSE to finally finishing this Mandala. I’M SO OVER IT.

Bear Cub's full plumage is back. 😍
So glad Bear Cub’s plumage has re-grown and she is a fluffy Cub again.

Into this look. Especially the chunky eye glitter. ✨
We’ve been watching more of the latest season of SNL. I like this shimmery silver sparkle look of Solange’s.

30 weeks! I slept in until 7:30 so I'm feeling gooood. Tired of waking up every hour to pee though. I never knew pregnant women peed so much.
This was yesterday. So happy! So well-rested! All things considered.

Love this gorgeous art by Phoebe Anna Traquair.
Just discovered this cool Art Nouveau artist Phoebe Anna Traquair (thanks, Twitter artist friends). I thought this painting was beautiful. I immediately texted it to my Aunt Lisa, who is recovering from knee surgery and loves art with redheads.

Beautiful day today. πŸ’š
Is this an especially long blog entry, or am I just really hungry? And why do I think it’s a good idea to try to blog right before dinner?

Everyone in the greater Seattle area: get your ass outside today! Even if it's during your lunch break! It's gorgeous out there! 🌞
Josh and I are hoping to make it to morning without finding out who the new President is. If I mute my phone, hopefully no one will text me at midnight with the news. I CAN WAIT.

Trying to take a selfie of @idahoagogo and me today in the sunshine and get our pregnant bellies in the shot was a unique challenge!
Christy came over today and we gabbed for several hours and I gave her the baby present I’d had sitting on my kitchen table, wrapped, for weeks and we took the dogs for a walk and the weather was AMAZING. So amazing that as soon as she left, I snarfed down a Luna bar and took the girls to the big park for another walk. Dog walk therapy! Too bad my tootsies are killing me.

This weekend is my baby shower, so stay tuned for 53459345934 photos of that excitement next week!
