Spring flowers, house paint and a man in a skirt

Spring flowers, house paint and a man in a skirt

Stepping on Matisse. ๐ŸŽจ
Stepping on Matisse’s head in downtown Everett. I haven’t spent a lot of time in downtown Everett (although there is a Hawaiian restaurant that I’ve been wanting to try forEVEr), but I know that we did one of our long practice runs last year there and I don’t remember seeing the artist’s heads!

We had also never seen this fabbuu mirrored wall, near the Village Theatre. Oooh, ahhhh. Cool. This was last weekend, when we were doing a little exploring in a windstorm.

These pretty white flowers are blooming in my neighbor’s yard. I don’t know what they’re called, but they scream SPRING! Speaking of which, my husband just informed me that today is the first day of spring. Awwwwrrriiiiiite!

More colored glass that I did not purchase at “Home Inspirations” last weekend.

Couldn't resist buying these fun little vintage Japanese tea cups/saucer set. The color spoke to me. ๐Ÿ˜
For 6 bucks a set though I could not resist buying 2 sets of these gorgeous little Japanese tea cups and saucers. We used them last night for our Sleepytime “extra” tea.

The bedroom window. The bedroom is now teal and light green, we just haven’t put up all the art. Some of the art doesn’t go with the light green. I felt a little ridiculous paying for curtains from Cost Plus when I could EASILY whip some up…but since we had a gift card that guilt is alleviated.

What a beautiful day! ๐ŸŒž
I always feel guilty spending money when I’m not working, it’s a curse. Hey, guess who’s working all next week though? ME ME ME! Finally. Actually I did work one day last week, I forgot about that.

Thanks to a Groupon, we finally got canvas prints from our Hawaii trips to hang in the kitchen. I took the top photo in Kauai; Josh took the bottom photo in Maui. They look so good against the aqua paint! I wish I was in Hawaii right now, mmmmm.
Thanks to a Groupon that Joshy purchased a few weeks ago, we finally got these really nice canvas prints from our Hawaii trips for uber cheap. The top one was taken by me in Kauai; the bottom one was taken by Josh in Maui. They really POP against the aqua paint in the kitchen.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Don't forget to wear green. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ€โ˜˜
Thursday was St. Patrick’s Day, and even though my period hit and was awful (also 4 days late!), I smeared on some green eyeshadow and this vintage dress that I bought months ago on a thrifting trip with Fleeta and felt cute enough to take a selfie. I have about 3 eyelash extensions left on each eye. Did I mention that I’m giving up eyelash extensions for Robo Baby? Also nail shellac, but that’s mainly because a year of doing nail shellac has completely wrecked my nails. They’ve been bare for weeks. At first it was weird, but I’m getting used to it.

Wet pets! Pets who get wet! ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆ
Thursday and Friday the weather was so gorgeous that the pets and I spent an extra-long time romping at the dog park. I just couldn’t bring myself to stay inside! On Friday we actually spent an unprecedented hour and a half at the dog park! It was glorious.

Maggie and Bear Cub made a new puppy friend today.
I’m still paranoid about the dog poisoner but I can’t let fear destroy the fun of taking my dogs to a park to socialize. I refuse!

I ๐Ÿ’š green.
The onset of two of my favorite seasons (spring and summer) means the return of all of my favorite clothes: my dresses. Yesterday I went through my closet and removed all the pants that don’t fit me right now…about 75% of them. I also took all the dresses that don’t fit me right now, folded them up, and placed them in the back of the closet. No constricting clothes! No tight pants! Stretch, baby, stretch!

A man in a Utilikilt in my kitchen. ๐Ÿ˜
He wore his Utilikilt for me on St. Patrick’s Day, much to my delight. He’s training to run the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon again so it fits. I made him a Crockpot full of corned beef and cabbage that day, and tried not to get pissy at his beer intake. Ya know.

...mmm? Oh hello, Dream Bedroom! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ’•
Googling “bohemian bedrooms” for decorating inspiration makes me happy. Look at this room! It’s like my Dream Bedroom! Snivel sniff.

Trying to sort out the color of the guest room next and the indecision is strong. Looks like a unicorn threw up in here!
All of the paint swatches on the wall make it look like a unicorn threw up in here, huh? We finally decided on the primary color for the guest room yesterday. I think. The indecision was really strong for this room.

Waiting for slowpoke me. ๐ŸŒฟ
Currently Josh is out running 17 miles. Yuck. I’m icing my back and my foot (getting old sucks) in preparation for a nice little 3 mile jog on the treadmill downstairs, preferably while watching something funny on Netflix.

This afternoon we have an archery lesson that Josh bought us from Groupon. It was supposed to be two weeks ago but my back was really screwed up, so I bumped it up. My back is still a little screwed up but the show must go on!

Relaxing on the back patio with Maggie dog. The weather can't decide what it wants to do today. โ˜€๏ธโ›…๏ธโ˜๏ธ
Anyway how much damage can I do to my back during a measly hour-long lesson? (stay tuned)

These yellow blooms! ๐Ÿ’›
Also in my neighbor’s yard. I love these bright yellow blooms.

Bear Cub appreciating nature. ๐ŸŒฟ
Ah, nature. Have a great week, blog logs!

The Big Ol’ Recap

The Big Ol’ Recap

Heyyo! Happy end of 2015! It’s that special time of year when I spend an hour or so reviewing just what exactly it was that I spent the last year doing…or at least, what I SAID I did on my blog. Heh heh heh.

Had my tri-annual haircut today from my favorite stylist.
Tri-annual haircut from Erika…always a pleasure.

shaved back
I had her do something I should have been doing for years: shaved the nape of my neck, where I always grow these awful wispy hairs that I pull on. No more wisps!

Kissy and Lizzy
Kissyfur visits and we all go out to see Dame Edna! Hooray! Totally worth it.

I finally have an easel like a "real" painter! Score! ๐ŸŽจ
I paint with my new easel like a “real” artist! Or maybe…an artist with better posture. Heh.

Made these two little skirts last night.
Made these cute little corduroy skirts.

Glamming up. ๐Ÿ’–
Got some highlights from Erika! What kind of weirdo gets highlights in winter? THIS ONE.

I decided a few weeks ago to quit 1 of my 2 jobs. Today was my last day at 1 of the jobs, and here I am sitting on my boss's desk, pouting. Change is hard sometimes.
Quit one of my two jobs. At the time I was kind of bummed, but I’m glad I did.

fancy stump
We visited Mukilteo for the first time.

Say hello to my little friend. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™
Met this dude! Bah ha ha.

lovely ladies
Housewarming party!

NOT MUCH. Seriously.

the Butchart Gardens
Joshy and I go to Victoria BC and visit the beautiful Butchart Gardens! Can you even believe how gorgeous this is?

Birthday boy with his "Violet Martini". I was so disappointed that it didn't match his shirt.๐Ÿธ
Fancy dinner out for Josh’s birthday.

Joshy at Pike Place. We bought salmon and some gorgeous produce.
A visit to Pike Place Market (always a good time).

My first mandala painting. I inked the design on the canvas so I can fill it in like a coloring book (very satisfying).
I start my very first Mandala painting! Incidentally, I started noticing this year a HUGE trend for adult coloring books–for Mandalas. Gee, I’m such a trend setter.

My Couch to 5K training grounds ๐ŸŒฒ
I begin running at the park with the girls every other day. First I did a couch to 5K program, then a 10K, and eventually I trained for a half marathon.

Horizontal camping!
This year was so unusually hot, we were able to start camping in June! Yes!

Lizzy and Joshy
Josh’s cousin Chris and Hailey’s wedding.

Mom and Josh at Anthony's in Everett. YUM. ๐Ÿ
My parents come over for a visit and see the new house for the first time. We eat good food, and even drive to Whidbey Island.

Lizzy art II
I do another art show for RAW artists! They love me. This is my third show with them.

s and s at pike place market
Stewart and Stephanie come for a visit on their way to Hawaii, and we take them to Pike Place Market. I saw the gum wall for the first time!

teal and green
Camping trip number two, this time to Hyas Lake, one of my favorite spots. Isn’t it beautiful?

I rescued this sad Betta fish from work. I've rescued a Betta before, and Seymour lived a long time, so I think of myself as the "Betta Whisperer". I named this guy Angus. I just ordered him a "hammock" shaped like a leaf and I'm excited about it!
I rescue Angus, a sad Betta fish, from work. He’s doing great!

rainbow mandala 1
I finish this rainbow Mandala, and sell it! Woo hoo!

Flushed and sweaty, hiking in 85-degree July heat. And Josh's uncle says hiking isn't a "sport". Ha! (tell that to my calves today)
We hike up Tiger Mountain (in 85 degree heat) to watch Mike paraglide down.

Home renovation weekend: pulling up carpet smelling of cat piss from the previous owners and replacing it with laminate. I feel very "grown up" ๐Ÿก
Our first major home renovation project: pulling up the cat-piss stinky carpet left from the previous owners in the living room and replacing it with laminate.

Our infamous hike to Snow Lake, where my iphone takes a dip in the water by mistake. They don’t like that.

We celebrate our 7th anniversary.

Metallic Mandala on wall
I finish up this dude.

Liz and Josh and the Seven Year Itch
We REALLY celebrate our anniversary a couple weeks later, dressing up and watching the movie and everything. Good times!

Maggie takes in some nature
Day hike to Lake 22!

puppy love
My annual visit to Boise, this time with a new puppy who chewed on me the entire time.

trail start
Camping with Mike at Glacier Lake! Not the first time I’ve been snowed on during a summer camping trip either, mind you. Although last time I was on mushrooms! Ha ha! Memories are fun.

Maggie on guard
Final camping trip at our old stand-by, near Cle Elum. Bliss.

J and L on the Rainbow Bridge
We fly to NYC! My first time. So wonderful. I wanted to go back immediately.

post run triumphant faces
I complete my very first half marathon! I spent months training for it. Totally tolerable at the time…but then two and a half weeks of the WORST foot pain afterwards, during which time I became very bitter. I have bought myself some extremely expensive running shoes and plan on getting back to it real soon.

Re-united with my Number One Gay (Bear Cub puts up with a lot). ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒŸ
Kissy came back into town to dogsit for us during New York, then we had some Good Times afterwards.

Blue again! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’™
He also dyed Josh’s hair, and we’ve been dying it fun colors ever since.

Happy Halloween! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ’€
We dressed up as the Countess and Donovan from “American Horror Story” for Christmas, and entertain hordes of trick-or-treaters on our doorstep, a fun change from our last house. I was thankful we didn’t throw a party–crippled with cramps with a tight white dress! Boo, indeed!

floral 1
Another Mandala painting complete! I could kick myself for forgetting to display it in the art show this month. Not that it would have sold, heh heh sigh.

Thanksgiving dinner success!
Thanksgiving at grandma’s house. Jsoh embarked on a diet soon after this, and he’s actually been sticking with it.ย

Oh yeah baby โ˜๏ธโ˜๏ธโ˜๏ธ
We celebrate my birthday at a really posh hotel downtown, followed by Moroccan dinner. Mmmmm.

Tonight Joshy bought a chunk of art.
I participate in Owen’s annual art show downtown. Josh purchases a hunk of art from this dude.

Frances surrounded by her grandchildren (and a few great-grandchildren).
We spent Christmas Eve with one half of Josh’s family, Christmas morning by ourselves, and the rest of Christmas with the other half of his family! Plus his grandmother’s 90th birthday party. AND A LOT OF COOKIES, FLEETA.

Looking back it seems as though 2015 was a pretty damn good year. I have a steady job, nice house (finally), no major stress…everything has fallen nicely into place to make 2016 the year of ROBO BABY! Feel free to offer male baby names in the comments. See ya next year!

On blogging for EVER, Internet time management, and glitter

On blogging for EVER, Internet time management, and glitter

Skeleton tee Tuesday. ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’š

It’s recently come to my attention (said in fake Chloe Sevigny voice) that I have been blogging for a looooooong time. Since 2003, to be exact.

I think about “freshening” up this blog (ie.: removing archives) ALL THE TIME, but never do. I find myself re-reading them sometimes, for a chuckle.

Oh sushi you, you got what I neeeeed...๐Ÿฃ

I am nothing if not…consistent, I guess. Consistently addicted to dogs, glitter, blogging. Or at least, journaling. I don’t think that will ever change.

Dinner out with @djmagicelf and his cool shirt ๐Ÿ’‹

I don’t even read other blogs anymore, it’s kind of strange. Raymi now and again. I check in occasionally with my linked blogs on the sidebar…the ones who are still around. A small list!

Why not bloody eyeball cupcake decorations? ๐Ÿ‘ป

When I’m online I mostly cruise through xojane, stop by Jezebel, and if I need to be disgusted by current events I might drop by Gawker, but only briefly.

Misty and gloomy today, but we still have to do our daily dog walk.

I have a goal, actually, to set a timer when I’m online and spend NO MORE THAN 60 MINUTES…because who needs to be online longer than that? If you don’t have a computer-related job, I mean. I don’t.

Chartreuse + Berry. ๐Ÿ

There’s an app you can put on your phone that measures how much time you spend online, but it runs all the time and sucks up so much data I erased it after one day.

Tom's kind of a beefcake, huh?

Ever seen the original “Night of the Living Dead?” We watched it again recently, and damn if it doesn’t stand the test of time! This character Tom was a beefcake, too. Look at those muscles!

A spooky scene, courtesy of @djmagicelf ๐Ÿ’€

Josh pulled it together last weekend (while I was hunched over the latest Mandala) and decorated our front yard for Halloween. Ooooh, spooky!

Creative outdoor Halloween decorations, thanks to @djmagicelf

He really outdid himself with the giant spider climbing up the house, devouring a human carcass. I’m so proud of him!

Gettin' my Mandala on today. This one is going to be floral.

Floral Mandala, in the works. It’s all inked up and I’ve started coloring it in…which is the best part.

Was introduced to these delicious little balls of heaven last night by @idahoagogo...YUM.

Christy came over Saturday night for a visit. She talked for hours and I made chicken yakisoba and she brought over these delicious mochi balls from Trader Joe’s. I’d only had the green tea flavor before and wasn’t a fan, but these were tasty.

Pretty sky tonight. ๐Ÿ’™

She gave me some pretty teal-and-red earrings she bought for me during her honeymoon in Turkey, and I gave her some cool gardening seeds I picked up at the Met, in NYC.

Could not resist. ๐ŸŒน

My passion for “Display & Costume” runs deep, and unfortunately they only have their “Day of the Dead” section up this time of year. How could I resist this DoD glitter skull for 1.99???! It looks so good against the teal paint.

Why not glitter claws? โœจโœจโœจ
I resisted the glitter claws, though. Heh.

Yesterday for the first time in the two weeks post-half-marathon my foot didn’t hurt. Instead of running on it, I chose to sit on the stationary bike instead. All day, no pain! Today I wore stupid flats with no arch support to work, and it hurts just a TINY bit, but I’m going to pop some Ibuprofen and go walk the rogs. It’s a beautiful sunny day outside.

Wednesday Instagram Glam Slam

Wednesday Instagram Glam Slam

PNW art. ๐Ÿ’™

Hola, blog. It’s Wednesday and do you know what that means?

Wore my monster shirt to work today. I love October! ๐Ÿ‘ป

Well, not a lot, as it turns out. I mean, I have to water the plants on Wednesday. But what ELSE?

Happy Bear Cub! ๐Ÿ’š

Why, tonight at 10 pm it’s time for the latest episode of “American Horror Story: Hotel”! Yayyyy! Unlike previous seasons, I am WAY invested in this shit.

Hey @houseofglib, Maggie doesn't mind that my avocado socks are hopelessly #basic (as long as I'm paying attention to her). ๐Ÿ˜œ

So invested, in fact, that upon viewing less than 5 minutes of Lady Gaga’s outfits in the first episode, I made a sweeping decision to change our Halloween costumes entirely. THEY ARE THAT GOOD!

The blueberry bush is looking awfully nice right now ๐Ÿ’šโค๏ธ

The hardest part was choosing which look I wanted to copy. I settled on this one, and started sending away for the components. I now have a white dress and turban, just need to make the red leather “kill” glove, and decide on footwear.

Bear Cub waits up. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿƒ

One of my gay IG buddies sent me this link of a chick in London who has already done this particular look of Gaga’s, and did it INCREDIBLY WELL, UGH, I hate over-achievers, don’t you?

Holographic silver glitter polish from Patricia Field ๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒŸโœจ

The white dress that I ordered is incredibly sheer, so I’ll have to dust off the nude Spanx to make it work.

Feeling Fall ๐Ÿ‚

I mean, it’s not like we have any PLANS, we’re not throwing a party this year (sniff, sob…), but it’s important to dress up on Halloween nonetheless!

Aqua dreams realized ๐Ÿ’™

I was so proud of us for painting our entire kitchen and dining room two weeks ago when we were both sick. I loooooove those colors.

Fall hits our backyard ๐Ÿ

Ohhhh Fall is here and not too rainy (yet) and all the colors are changing and it’s so lovely.

Beautiful sunny day at the dog park ๐ŸŒž

Yesterday a patient said horrible things to me and for some strange reason it propelled me into a terrible mood for the rest of the day (sorry, everyone) (who doesn’t read this blog anyway). Today that patient was nice, though. Thank goodness.

Hello, old friend! ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’œโœจ

Dealing with grumpy old men is a huge part of my job but sometimes they get to me. I hate it when they do, but it happens.

We always add glitter crows to the paintings this time of year. I think the crow really works on this Louise Brooks painting! ๐Ÿ˜

Josh and I put forth a very small amount of energy decorating this year. Our house is surrounded by small children, so we will definitely get trick or treaters.

Obsessed with Bear Cub's tail. ๐Ÿ’š

I was planning on buying candy at the last minute. Josh and I cannot be trusted with any sort of large bag of “fun” sized candy. We will eat it all, and quickly. Fun!

Vampire dog is out to play ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Meanwhile, I need to figure out the best product for lightening my eyebrows and hairline…temporarily.

I love this time of year. โค๏ธ

It’s been a few weeks, no doubt several drag queens have released Lady Gaga make-up tutorials, right? Right.

Fresh shellac today: black glitter for Halloween. ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿ’€โœจ

My new running shoes arrived yesterday and they feel like a dreeeeeeam. I hope I don’t have more pain after running tonight! Pain sucks! Later dudes.

Friday Instagram Superpost

Friday Instagram Superpost

Hey buddies. I thought I’d kick off Labor Day weekend with an INSTAGRAM SUPERPOST! ie, posting all of the IG photos I’ve taken over the past few weeks so I can, um, move on with my life.

Mother and daughter Butter Pecan Flavor Burst Good Times! ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿฆ

How did I forget to post this picture of Mom and I during my Boise chronicles? It’s one of my favorites from the entire trip! Sitting outside Delsa’s with butter pecan Flavor Burst cones (note the size of mine compared to hers, bwa ha haaaaaaa).

“Did you whiten my teeth?” she asked me when she saw this photo.

“Yep!” I do that, you know. Free of charge. ‘Cause I care.

...and Wild Animal Number Two, as well! Have you hugged your dog today? ๐Ÿ’•

Bear Schnubs and I at the dogpark yesterday.

TGIF! I'll be spending my weekend with Wild Animal Number 1...

She cuddled up to me while I threw the ball for this wild animal.ย

Turns out this polyester dress I've owned for __ years is perfect for #gameday (I don't watch the game but I care about the emotional stability of those around me ha haaaa). ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™
Yesterday’s work outfit, minus the short-sleeved cardigan I wore over the top. It was a Seahawks game day, and as it turns out, this polyester green and blue dress I bought 10,000 years ago has Seahawks colors, delighting most of my patients, who are fans.

My new glasses. Can you tell I'm a fan of Dame Edna?! ๐Ÿ‘“

My new, ridiculous glasses from Zenni that only set me back 30 clams (well, 30 for the frames at any rate). I’ve always wanted cat-eye glasses and when I saw these online, they just screamed LIZ BUY ME and who could resist? So Dame Edna!

It’s official,” Christopher texted to me when I sent him this picture. “You REALLY are a fag!

Thank you,” I replied.

We finally agreed on a color: chartreuse! ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’š

After smearing 8 different shades of green on the office walls, Josh and I finally came to an agreement on chartreuse. Hurrah!

I was kinda critical of the previous owners' painting job until Josh and I re-painted the office. Ha!

Whoops! Apparently even using painter’s tape doesn’t guarantee a clean edge. Well, it WAS my first time ever painting an entire room, I expected mistakes. In fact, that’s why I wanted to paint the office first, because it’s a room that neither one of us care too much about.ย

Bear Cub does not enjoy riding in the car. ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Josh brought the girls to the airport to pick me up on Sunday. Here’s Bear Cub looking supremely uncomfortable on the drive home. Poor little Cub!

Little Fluffy Clouds โ˜๏ธ

Yesterday at the dog park I had the unique experience of having both sunshine piercing my eyeballs AND little droplets of rain showering on my head. No rainbow though. Harrumph.

Testing kitchen paint colors last night while listening to the Die Antwoord Pandora station. The letters match the color names. Which one is your fave? ๐Ÿ’™

The current state of the kitchen. Josh talked me into choosing two colors, so we are going with A (Art Deco Dreams) for the main kitchen color and P (Dip in the Pool) for the dining room. Mmmm, aquaaaaa.

Recent important additions to our cd collection ๐Ÿถ

Recent important additions to our c.d. collection. I can listen to this song a LOT before I get sick of it.ย

Hooray! "How to Get Dressed" by one of my fave @xojanedotcom writers, @alisonfreer arrived! Already I'm loving the chapter on laundry (and relieved that I'm doing it mostly right) โœจ

I’d had this book in my wish list for a long time and went ahead and ordered it recently. I was relieved while reading the chapter on laundry to discover that I’m doing it mostly right! Mostly.

Oh Baddiewinkle! โœจ๐Ÿ’šโœจ

Not into Baddie Winkle yet? You should be! She basically has my dream wardrobe.

Hangin' with my homies. ๐ŸŽพ

Celebrating National Dog Day with a couple of dogs.

Surprisingly tasty!

1985?! This chick looks like a modern-day hipster.

Hey nostalgic weirdos (like myself), did you know that Old School episodes of “Reading Rainbow” are on Netflix? I couldn’t believe this chick from the first episode (1985!), looking exactly like a modern-day hipster. The more things change, eh?

Recovering from a root canal, and the dogs are being very sweet. ๐Ÿ’›

Last Monday, root canal day. Being comforted by Schnubs.

With my Birthday Broad, @corinne_spoja ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’•โœจ

Did I ever blog about The Broad’s birthday dinner? I feel like the answer is yes, and yet–I don’t remember posting this picture. I offered up “The Crab Cracker” in Kirkland as a possible dinner option, and she went for it. Here we are after stuffing our faces.

Celebrating the beautiful busty @corinne_spoja's b-day tonight with creme brรปlรฉe ๐Ÿ˜

My Broad enjoying her birthday creme brulee. Josh and I split a piece of coconut creme pie with Lorna Doone crust that was incredible. Let’s face it, I’m basically only dieting now so I can eat my way through New York. Makes sense, rrrrrright?

A little green-spiration at “Display & Costume” a few weeks ago.

Oof! That blog entry ended up taking a whole lot longer than planned due to about 42395482942534 different distractions. How do writers do it? REAL writers I mean. If you find out, let me know.

“I think it’s wonderful that you’re married! I think it’s just elegant!”*

“I think it’s wonderful that you’re married! I think it’s just elegant!”*

Our actual 7 year wedding anniversary was on August 3rd, but due to various illnesses and a torn-up living room and a bunch of other weirdness, we finally got around to celebrating it last night: the proper way!

Liz and Josh and the Seven Year Itch

With costumes, duh! We dressed up as “Richard Sherman” (the character’s name in the movie, not the football player) and “The Girl”, Tom Ewell and Marilyn Monroe from “The Seven Year Itch”, ย circa 1955.

Celebrating our 7 year anniversary last night with a "The Seven Year Itch" extravaganza!

Is it the greatest movie in the world? Nope. Does Marilyn look absolutely stunning in it? YES.

Everyone should do Marilyn drag at least once in their life. ๐Ÿ’‹

I already had my Marilyn drag from a Halloween costume way back in 2007, so I just had to wash the white dress and comb the wig out, and voila! The earrings were my grandmother’s.ย

No subway 'round here, had to settle for a box fan. ๐Ÿ’จ

I had thrown out the original white kitten heels I bought for the costume (I later added glitter but I still hate kitten heels so they were donated). Instead I wore the strappy little glitter heels I bought for my brother’s wedding last year that were forbidden by his new wife. Oooohhhweeeee! I forgot how to walk in heels. It’s hard.

oh Marilyn

Ohhh Marilyn, you were never more beautiful. I WANT THAT DRESS, TOO. I also want her pink dress from “Niagara”. Not the real thing, mind you, just an excellent reproduction.ย

Liz as Marilyn with fan

There was no subway nearby, so I had to make do with a box fan. Class! Puuuuuure class!

Liz as Marilyn with fan and room

At least the living room floor is finished. Now, for the rest of the house. Yesterday was the hottest day of the week, something around 90 degrees. I set up the inflatable kiddie pool outside but the dogs wanted NO PART OF IT, so I have a bunch of selfies of just my legs in the pool. You understand. We dined on take-out: Josh had a steak and onion rings and I had a salad with grilled chicken, because even though it was our anniversary I’m still on my New York Diet. We set up the futon on the floor in the basement and watched the movie while snuggling and eating Creamsicles. Pretty sweet anniversary.

Liz as Marilyn at the window

I was paranoid about my eye infection so I didn’t wear any eye make-up. That’s okay: Marilyn is all about the red lips and the beauty mark anyway. I darkened my eyebrows but apparently not enough!

Liz as Marilyn at the door

Marilyn drag is always fun. I highly recommend it.

What’s next? Tomorrow I am finally going to the dentist, not sure that’s notable. Saturday we are participating in a 5K called the “Bubble Run”, and then we might go camping…maybe. Josh started yet another round of an antibiotic we are 89% sure he is allergic to today, so let’s see how sick he is when he gets home from work, poor little guy. Meanwhile, I’m about to go run 4 miles. Happy trails, blog-logs!

* quote from “The Girl”, a’la Marilyn.

Yo all you homeboys out in Bronx, this one’s for you!

Yo all you homeboys out in Bronx, this one’s for you!

Water Cub surveys the scene ๐Ÿ’ฆHow goes it, blog? The ranimals and I just hoofed it over to the park for a brief walk while I had nice long gay phone conversation with Christopher. He’s coming up next month to dogsit while Joshy and I are in New Yawk and we are trying to figure out exact dates.

Fresh eyelash extensions ๐Ÿ’

My eyelashes look nice again, but the damage is already done: I went to my eye doctor yesterday and she confirmed that yes, sure enough, the girl that did the HORRIBLE job on my lashes last month gave me an eye infection, called a “chalazion” (not to be confused with calzone). It’s a little bump under my left eyelid. I noticed it a couple weeks ago, took another few days before I was brave enough to Google it, and did what the Internet suggested I do (warm compresses throughout the day). Apparently these little bastards go away on their own.

I have also been getting a lot of headaches lately, and I was concerned that the bump under my eyelid was somehow causing those, but they don’t appear to be related. I suspect I have some sort of weird seasonal allergies. I’ve been taking nasal decongestant for the last few days and the headaches are better. The chalazion is getting smaller too, I think. I hope!

I’ve been debating on whether or not to let the owner of the lash place where I had my lashes done so poorly know about the eye infection. I’m leaning towards YES. Shouldn’t she know? She should know.

Last night's viewing: "Batman" circa 1989. We hadn't seen it in years. Jack 100% steals the movie. I swooned over Kim Basinger the entire time ๐Ÿ’–Ohhhhh it was a real happenin‘ Friday night ’round here, let me tell ya, with my eyelid bump and headache and meh and merrrrrr. We laid on the couch, ingesting Fudgesicles and watching “Batman”, circa 1989. Jack Nicholson steals the entire movie, and I oohed and aahed over Kim Basinger’s beauty. Josh doesn’t see what all the fuss is about–he doesn’t think she’s beautiful at all. I keep telling him that he needs to re-watch “My Stepmother is an Alien” and then get back to me about her beauty:

Just start at the 3 minute mark. SO HOT! When that movie came out I was so young my mother forbid me to watch that scene. I just waited until she was out of the house (or room, more likely) and watched it, ha ha Mom!

Free lunch on our walk today ๐Ÿ’š

Free fruit snacks during our dogwalk at the park. Mmmmmmm.

Cuuute! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

This adorable VW was right in front of us when we were driving around this weekend doing errands. Love the sunglasses!

You know how it is. ๐ŸŒˆ

We stopped by “Display & Costume” so I could pick up Corinne a few birthday prezzies–her birthday is next Tuesday. 26! So fresh. I couldn’t resist buying myself these unicorn band-aids, since I seem to be hurting myself a lot lately.

I had a nice view on our 5 mile run this morning ๐Ÿ‘

Sunday morning the whole fam went for a 5 mile run. Nice view!

Re-post from @djmagicelf. This morning I cut my ancient Bob Marley t-shirt into a muscle shirt. I'm in training for our upcoming vacation, grrrr! ๐Ÿ’ช

I cracked open our “donation” box and, a’la Fleeta, started removing items from it–and one of the items that Josh had added was my ancient Bob Marley t-shirt. I bought it during my first trip to Seattle, with Nico, back in 2003, and the armpits were full of holes. I merely chopped off the sleeves and voila! A “muscle” shirt! For all of those muscles that I WANT SO BADLY.

4 possible green paints for the office walls. Which one do you like best? ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

We decided, now that the cat-piss-carpet-project is complete, that it would be fun to start painting rooms, so we’re beginning with a room that is not that crucial, the “office”. We narrowed our paint choices down to 4 different greens, and they are currently smeared haphazardly all over the room. I think we have further narrowed it down to 2 choices: the lime-ish hues. The mint ones remind us too much of hospitals.

Free wildflower seeds came in the mail, so I planted them. This is what emerged ๐Ÿ’œ

I planted some free wildflower seeds that came in the mail, and these flowers popped up. They are beautiful, and I have no idea what they are.

Our rhubarb plant really is the gift that keeps on giving. ๐Ÿ’š

Meanwhile, the rhubarb is still going strong.

Bought myself this "Speed Kills" t-shirt b/c it represents my running philosophy. ๐Ÿข

I bought myself this happy little “SPEED KILLS” t-shirt to use during training sessions for the half-marathon, because my entire running philosophy is all about going slooooooow. Like a turtle.

Portrait of a dog begging for snacks: Maggie.

Maggie dog begging for almonds. Apparently almonds are bad for dogs too, I learned after feeding them both almonds recently. D’oh.ย

Portrait of a dog begging for snacks: Bear Cub.

I mean gee whiz, who can keep track? I should probably print out a list of foods that are bad for dogfriends and keep it prominently in the kitchen, since it seems to keep growing.

Alriiiight. Time to finish my coffee and go for a 4-miler. Then I’m going to blow up that inflatable pool I bought a month ago and fill it with water! It’s finally hot enough again to use it. Sheesh, I was beginnning to think that summer was over, or something.
