Glow sticks, glitz and glamour

Glow sticks, glitz and glamour

A proud moment for this former raver: baby’s first glow sticks.
What’s shakin’, turkey bacon? Here was a very Proud Moment for this former party girl: baby’s first glowsticks. We danced to trance with our baby! Hooray!

Sometimes...size matters!
Josh and I are making the baby a stocking this year. We’ve been working on it very slowwwly, a little bit at a time, so it turns out looking good. Size-wise, it is in between Josh’s tiny stocking and my monstrosity. We are adding the BLING right now, and then I’ll give it a final stitch with the sewing machine.

Our gay nutcracker (thanks @madlymazzy). I added the glitter. What shall we name him?
Speaking of BLING, Christopher thinks our gay nutcracker (Timmy?) needs more BLING. Maybe so. Too much is never enough, ammirite?

I requested some art for Christmas from my talented 8-year-old niece Ronia, and she drew me this. πŸ’š
I requested some Ronia art for Christmas and she drew this for me. It’s now in a green glitter frame adorning the wall. Love that kid!

I mean I don’t really see a problem here. βœ¨πŸ’Žβœ¨
Here is a picture of a woman with her fiance, a chandelier. I saw it on Twitter (so it must be true) and I think it’s kind of sweeeeeet. What?

β€œRoll it, Smoky!” I love Amy Sedaris’ new show. You even get to find out where glitter comes from! ✨✨✨
I’ve managed to catch ONE episode of Amy Sedaris’ new show (mostly because I have to watch it on the desktop computer, who has time for that?) and it’s hilarious! I watched the astronaut episode and even learned where glitter comes from! Can’t wait to catch the lovemaking episode with Paul Dinello aka Mr. Jellineck from “Strangers with Candy”.

Goo and I yesterday in coordinating outfits. β€οΈπŸŽ„
Two pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight! Finally, it happened to me.

Health-wise, I finally went to a uro-gyno who took me off of the OAB medicine (hallelujah) and doubled my dose of amitriptyline, which treats nerve pain. He pronounced that I had a “beautiful vagina” (to which I replied, “You’re not the first person to say that,”) but after a little poking and prodding determined that my pelvic floor was unbalanced. Evidently I am too tight on the left side. So now I go to a physical therapist once a week to learn to RELAX my pelvic floor. By doing reverse kegels! Life is strange. My burning bladder flares up when I ovulate–like right now, as I’m sitting here typing this–but overall has gotten a lot better. I’m hoping with the PT and reverse kegels and medicine that someday this pain will be a thing of the past.

The mens. β€οΈπŸ’šβ€οΈ
My boys. Awwwwwww.

We are family. πŸ’šβ€οΈπŸ’š
Look at dat baby! One week ago we all got dressed up in our holiday colors to go over to Espe’s house for a baby/daddy/mommy hangout. Pizza and salad and cookies were snarfed, and a Good Time was had by all.

Trying to pose three baby boys for a picture: adorable chaos. @espedp @vvswai ❀️❀️❀️
Trying to get all three boys to pose for a picture was utterly impossible (and so adorable).

Today. This sunny weather is treating me riiiiight 🌞
We still do this, every single day. Although it’s a lot more pleasant when it’s not raining.

Oh Christmas tree! πŸŽ„
The Christmas tree this year. Josh built a little wooden box for it to stand on, because we didn’t want to shell out 100 dollars for a tree, but still wanted that glorious height. So far, no baby-related tree disasters! (fingers crossed)

We’ve been watching Downton Abbey (or β€œDowner Abbey” as I like to call it). Edith’s clothes get a LOT better in Series 4. I liked this dress especially.
We have been working our way slowly through “Downton Abbey” (I like to call it “Downer Abbey”–if you’ve seen the show you know what I mean). The early 20’s dresses are to DIE. Edith, the dowdiest sister, suddenly has a fabulous slinky wardrobe at the start of Season 4 and this aqua number was one of my favorites.

Spotted this morning. I agree! πŸ‘Šβ€οΈβœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
I spotted this car sticker outside of the craft store the other day and enjoyed it.

Look it’s our @parlorftattoo art collection πŸ‘Šβœ¨
Owen is the family tattoo artist but is also a fine artist and here are two of his prints that we own. I bought Josh a gift certificate for two Owen tattoos for Christmas. He’s getting–wait for it–a mountain scene and a SNOWFLAKE. Bah ha haaaaaa. How Josh.

Need a seat? Spotted at the Pound Art studio.
It’s thanks to Owen that I am able to participate in the Pound Art Studio annual holiday open house every year. Here is a fun chair I spotted during the art show this year.

Found my calendar for 2018! 😍
Calendar for 2018? Huh? Yeah?

New tiny sugar skull painting in progress, for my cousin Erika.
Painting in progress for my cousin Erika. I told her two pick two colors and she picked black and gold, and since I’m not on a time constraint I’m taking my time and playing around with it.

Playing around with Erika’s sugar skull painting today (including mistakes). I don’t have a direction with this one, but I do know it will have a shit-ton of glitter. ✨🌟✨✨✨
Here’s the progress as of yesterday, including the mistakes I made that you can see covered in black. I really can only paint when the baby is taking naps, and sometimes…I just want to lay horizontal under the heated blanket instead of paint! You understand.

Bear Cub on the back porch.
Bear Schnubbs. She’s a lady!

This kid and hats!
Foiled again: not only does my son hate hats on his own baby head, he likes to yank them off my head as well! Sheesh.

Once a cheeseball, always a cheeseball. Stay cheesy! #tbt
Little Lizzy and Pops. Look, I was doing the “Home Alone” face before “Home Alone” even happened.

Holiday...celebrate! πŸŽ„
The Christmas wreath that I DIY’d a few years ago. Does it need more…glitter? Probably.

One of my favorite 90s models Kirsty Hume, looking just as fabulous now in 2017. β€οΈπŸ’šβ€οΈ
Kirsty Hume was one of my favorite models in the 90’s and would you believe that this is her in 2017? She looks exactly the same! Oh to age like a supermodel!

One of my New Year’s Resolutions is to wear more eyeshadow. It’s good to have dreams. This is β€œSmoky Mauve” Extra Dimension eyeshadow by MAC. πŸ’•βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
And finally, one of my superficial New Year’s Resolutions is to wear more eyeshadow (and also start wearing my contacts more). To that end, here is “Smoky Mauve” Extra Dimension eye shadow by MAC, YEAH!

Ahhh it’s so nice to get through an entire blog entry without interruptions. My mother is flying over this afternoon to stay with us for an indeterminate amount of time, hooray! Grilled cheese GALORE! TTFN blog.

Buying Nothing, new art and fun books

Buying Nothing, new art and fun books

Mantra for today (thanks @madlymazzy)
Hallo blog. So apparently if I post an “album” to Instagram, it uploads NONE of the pictures in the album to Flickr. Therefore, I have no photos to show for Thanksgiving this year, just this cartoon of Courtney Love howling my Thanksgiving mantra. Shucks! I can tell you that we went to Grandma Shirley’s, I made blackberry cobbler and Josh made a pumpkin pie and a chocolate cream pie, the food was delicious, the company was as boisterous and fun as always, and we had lots and lots of Shirley’s special oyster stuffing for leftovers. Mmmmmmm.

Hey kids, it's that time of year again! Time to #buynothing! Tell your friends! #participatebynotparticipating
And then the following day we Bought Nothing, as is our annual tradition since 2008.

#buynothing and #optoutside πŸŒ²πŸ‚πŸŒΎ
“Opt Outside” was also trending on Black Friday. I opted outside!

Don't buy anything today, create something! Here's a lil painting of Bear Cub I just started. 🎨
Meanwhile, I decided when I invited myself to participate in Owen’s show this year to add two more paintings to the mini painting collection: a tiny Maggie and a tiny Bear Cub. Then, if they don’t sell, I’ll have two cute little paintings of my dogs!

Spotted yesterday on Amazon. I can think of a few people that would enjoy this for Christmas! πŸ’šβœ¨πŸ’š
Psychedelic art AND a scratch ‘n’ sniff book? Adorable.

Faaaabuuuulouuuus ✨❀️✨✨✨
We took Mr. Baby to a quaint little shopping village in Bothell to explore a “learning” toy store. While there we also explored some of the surrounding shops–a notable shop was stuffed to the brim with satin gowns, little faux fur shrugs, rhinestone bling, and for 5 clams…these heart shaped sunglasses, which I bought on the spot. They look so cute on Goo–if only he would tolerate them for more than half a second.

Hello, rock turtle. 🐒
Spotted this rock carved like a turtle at the village. Speaking of that village, there are rumors that it might be torn down and replaced with yet another boring housing development. To sign the petition to stop this from happening, go here! I did.

Ughhhh so sad that #displayandcostume is closing their Everett store! As long as the Northgate store stays open, I think I'll survive. It's doubly depressing because I didn't go to their going out of business sale until today...I could've purchased so man
In other sad news. the costume shop in Everett is no more! Sure, it was never as great as the Northgate store, but I like to have options! DAMMIT.

Bear Cub and Maggie mini paintings in progress.
Maggie and Bear Cub, in progress. Speaking of paintings, another photo set that did not show up on Flickr was meeting an Internet friend who flew all the way to Seattle from Alberta Canada (for the Tori Amos show) and bought one of my mini paintings! It was the little painting of Louise Brooks, which was the very first mini painting I put up for sale in my Etsy shop, earlier this year. So I can happily say that in 2017 I sold one painting and one drawing! Woo hoo! Now there’s no pressure to sell tonight. Not that there ever was, heh heh heh.

Cooking with Goo: I put him in his high chair in the center of the kitchen and narrate while I cook...I'm expecting him to start preparing meals for me REAL soon! 😜
Cooking with Mr. Goo. I like to place him in his highchair in the center of the kitchen and narrate every thing I’m doing while I cook (with Pandora music on in the background). This way he sees that cooking is FUN, and, more importantly, he can start cooking for his mother ASAP!

Siiiigh I love this woman. πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€βœ¨
Note to self: find Amy Sedaris’s new show and watch it, STAT.

Pretty sunset. We'd be out for a walk right now if it wasn't dark at 4:20! Looking forward to the #wintersolstice, big time.
Currently Josh has strapped the baby to his back and he’s vacuuming. I’m enjoying my 3 hours of non-baby time that I won two weeks ago. Toenails have been painted a festive dark green with gold glitter and I’m typing out this blather.

Cub in the Wild 🌾
Then I just have to decide if I would rather do my birthday trip to Sephora today or tomorrow, on my actual birthday.

Michael's has a "boho holiday" section now, featuring a lot of magenta and teal. Did I fall for it? Uh huh.
The baby and I went to Michael’s this week and their new “boho holiday” section, featuring a lot of bright colors, caught my eye. Not shown: adorable photos of Goo reaching for glitter shakers and playing with feather boas.

Reading "Alligators All Around" by Maurice Sendak, long one of my favorite children's book authors/illustrators. Josh and I always read this book in a Tammy Grimes voice, like the recording. Because we are weirdos, all around.
One of the joys of parenting is getting to enjoy all your own childhood favorites all over again, and no children’s book collection would be complete without “Alligators All Around”, by Maurice Sendak. I can hear Tammy Grimes’ voice every time I read it.

Re-lashed yesterday, then this morning a much-needed trip to the eye doctor for some new "moist" contacts. πŸ’¦I can see clearly now the rain is gone...
For this week of Getting Pretty Before My Birthday, I had my eyelashes re-lashed, and finally went to the eye doctor for the first time since 2015 for some new, ultra “moist” contacts. My vision has definitely gotten worse over the past two years and it’s nice to be able to see again. I also had my nails shellacked last night–black with silver and dark blue glitter. Holiday, celebrate!

Don't mind me, just dying while watching this documentary about baby bears in Romania 😍🐻🐻
Having a bad day? Treat yourself to “Beary Tales” on Netflix, a documentary about baby bears in Romania that will have you howling “HOW ARE YOU SO CUUUUTE?” to the screen if you’re anything like me.

Happy Friday! Make it a weird one. πŸ’–πŸ’šβœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
That’s all, folks! Today is my very last day being 27 years old, tomorrow I turn 28. Shockingly close to 30! But I still have fun!

Oregon, new paintings and Thanksgiving dinner

Oregon, new paintings and Thanksgiving dinner

And then the sky decided to clear for our second walk today. Brrrrrr.

Hello blog! Happy Thankgiving week. I just put Mr. Goo down for his second nap of the day. The office is right next to his baby room, so I’m typing verrrry quietly shhhhhh

With Pops, my brother and his wife in Dallas Oregon last night, celebrating his apprenticeship with Village Missions.

Here we are in Dallas Oregon a week or so ago, celebrating my brother and his wife’s commissioning ceremony from Village Missions. The drive over was hellish, thanks to my newly acquired bladder problem–a four hour drive that turned into six (Portland traffic HELLO and GOODBYE), but nevertheless I’m glad we were able to make it. We stayed in the same shabby hotel that my father did, and we had a big greasy breakfast with him the next day. Pops has lost 27 pounds thanks to replacing his sandwiches at lunch with chicken breasts, and I’ve lost 57 of the 63 pounds I gained with Goo last year. Ahoy, weight loss!

Aunt Claire shows off the mini sugar skull I painted for her. πŸ’–πŸ’€βœ¨βœ¨

We also drove to Corvallis to visit Aunt Claire at her house and met her two dogs. I gave her the little sugar skull painting that I did especially for her.

Book haul from Powell's Books--5 books for baby and one thriller for me. It's about a rabies-like disease that only affects blondes--sounds promising!

We stopped in Portland on the way back to Seattle–all of my Portland photos are missing from Flickr so you’ll have to take my word for it–and visited Powell’s Books, a HUGE new and used bookstore recommended by Christopher. That was worth it! I bought five books for Goo and one for myself, a thriller about a rabies-like virus that only affects women with blonde hair. G-g-good times! We also had lunch with Pops at the Pearl Bakery and picked up a couple donuts at Blue Star donuts, also recommended by Christopher. Verdict: not as good as Voodoo. It was weird visiting Portland and not seeing Erika or Christopher, but it just didn’t work out this time.

Black dog day! πŸ’šπŸ’š

Meanwhile, hanging out with dog butts is always fun.

Lazy Sunday. 😴

I wish I could laze about like Maggie the Elder Dog.

Hey there, little mushroom friends.

Is it still mushroom season? I keep thinking it’s winter already, because BRRRR.

New mini painting in progress: Maggie dog in nature. πŸ’š

I’m doing a little mini painting of Maggie dog to put in the show I’ll be doing next weekend at the Pound Arts Studio, where I’ve shown my work in the past.

Playing in the hat bin today. If only he tolerated hats better! He looks soooo cuuuute in them.

I keep thinking if I make putting cute hats on into a fun game, he’ll start tolerating them? Hmmmm? Huh? Not even ear muffs, kid??

Drizzly Fall walks with dog butts. πŸ‚

Last night we had Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma Shirley’s house. I spent 90% of my time chasing after the baby, but that’s okay. He was mellow all night, didn’t even fuss until the very end, which was his bedtime. And he ate his first bites of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy and yams mmmmmmm.

Re-discovering my old Yamaha keyboard with Baby Goo.

My mother gave my dad a bunch of my old things from their house, including my old Yamaha keyboard. So now I can enjoy it all over again with my son!

November rain? Can't complain. πŸ‚

Wearing Josh’s rain coat. I asked for a new rain coat for my birthday present this year–my old one is so old the liner is shredding apart, and I stupidly bought one a couple years ago in a size SMALL (hiiiiigh hopes) and it’s too small! Derp. Note to self: YOU ARE A MEDIUM. REMEMBER THAT.

Happy Thanksgiving! This year I am most thankful for this crazy little baby, who makes me laugh every day. And for my husband @djmagicelf, because I can't imagine raising this crazy little baby without him. 😘

I am most thankful in 2017 for this sweet little baby, who cheers me up and gives me hope and makes me laugh every single day. I’m also thankful for Josh, because I can’t imagine raising Goo on my own. And for family, and friends, and dogs. The good stuff. See you later, alligators.

Painting and sewing projects

Hellerrr, blerrrrg. I’m attempting to blog this with the baby in the room with me, so we’ll see how it goes…here’s Mumsie last week on a dogwalk with the baby. She left this past weekend, on Saturday morning. BOOOOO. Good thing she’s coming back for Christmas, with my father as well.

Met a new friend at work today. πŸ’šπŸ’™βœ¨
Look who I met at work last week! Jealous?

πŸ‚
I’m feeling mostly improved thanks to medications. Although I still don’t feel “normal”. Then again, who does?

Tongue out Thursday? 😜😝
Baby M. is 10 months old now. He is finally taking both naps in his crib, no longer in the car like we had been doing from 3 months to um…a week or so ago. Heh. He has 6 teeth (the four on top haven’t popped out entirely), is taking a few baby steps, can scale a flight of 7 stairs with ease (but has trouble getting back down), and smiles a whole lot. And his first intentional word was DOG.

Cold sunny Friday afternoon walkies. πŸ’™πŸ’šπŸŒž
Here he is sleeping on our Friday afternoon walk. Crazy baby!

Is this the dreamiest building or what? (thanks @jasoncampbellstudio)
Oh my this building in Spain is dreamy. Can we go there please?

Enjoying the sun today with Mumsie. She goes back home tomorrow, boo! 😭
How nice that the weather cooperated during my mom’s last full day here and was sunny and gorgeous.

Currently. 🎨
Painting in progress: a little sugar skull for my Aunt Claire. She loves Day of the Dead as much as I do!

Finished the little sugar skull painting for my Aunt Claire! πŸ’–βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
And complete! I like this one. Next up I’m painting something for Erika.

Today πŸ’š
The daily dog walk, always and foreverrrrrr.

I made Josh this fleece cap today by deconstructing a beanie and then using it as a pattern. βœ‚οΈ
I took a little fleece beanie of Josh’s, deconstructed it, and used it as a pattern to make him a brand-new beanie! Now I have a pattern for all those future beanies I’m planning on making. Snicker.

Walkies today in between rain showers πŸ’¦
The beanie Corinne made me is getting a lot of use, lately.

Me working out this morning
Look, I even manage to find the time to fit a workout in.

Bear Cub's fur flying during our walk today, which managed to be sunny/rainy/windy all at the same time. Alriiiiiight.
Bear Cub’s fur gets ruffled during a particularly windy walk the other day.

I framed baby's first painting with a glitter frame. It coordinates well with Phyllis and the Kit Kat Klock.
Finally got around to framing baby’s first painting, with a glitter frame I already had on hand.

Finally reading this one (thanks @madlymazzy) πŸ’–πŸŒŸβœ¨βœ¨
Here’s a book Christopher gave me that I suspect I will enjoy reading if I only had the tiiiiime (the first ten pages have been great).

All dog beds must be approved by Mr. Goo.
Here’s Mr. Goo testing out a new dog bed for Maggie. He is currently throwing a baby tantrum because I won’t let him type. And it is LOUD!

Baby jail! He's very talented at climbing UP the stairs but still needs practice going down. πŸ˜…
Here he is in baby jail. Good grief, I may have to cut this entry short. WHAT A BABY!

A wig a day keeps the blues away

A wig a day keeps the blues away

I can get behind this look 🌟🌟🌟(thanks @beautycon)
Happy mid-October blog! These are not my lips…but they COULD be.

What's this? Another sinister finding at the playground?!
Gee, I thought I was all done with my Creepy Things Found at a Child’s Playground series…and then I saw this!?!

Day 6: I "acquired" this neon magenta bob from the Broad, but seem to have lost my beloved blue bob. You know what color I don't have? AQUA. I need an aqua wig.
In continuing with my post-a-wig-every-day-until-I-run-out idear, here is Corinne’s magenta wig that I “acquired” many years ago.

corinne purple
She wore it first! Here’s my Broad at Burning Man, circa 2004, wearing my corset (still have it), and skirt (nope).

πŸ’šπŸƒπŸ’™
Fall is dazzling me with all the changing colors, I love this time of year.

Halloween #fbf: Little Lizzy as a princess in a Gunne Sax dress with my two neighborhood BFFs Samantha and Alexis. Boy did I love to boss those two around! πŸ‘»
Dressed up for Halloween with my two neighborhood pals, Samantha and Alexis. Their father filled candy machines for a living so they always had candy and gum at their house, and they were younger than me so I could boss them around all the live-long day. Hooray!

Day 7: the Hayley Mills wig! It wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to be a cool little pixie for when I felt my Edie Sedgwick coming on (which used to be a LOT)...but somehow it had more of a Hayley Mills vibe, so the nickname stuck. Oh well. "Let's g
The Hayley Mills wig. She was supposed to be an Edie Sedgwick but that just wasn’t in the cards for her.

blonde ambition
Notable for a series of self-portraits I took back when Josh and I were on a 4-day hiatus because of my drinking and I immersed myself into a bottle of whiskey and put on a lot of eyeshadow and took some of the best self-portraits of my life. The series even inspired a painting…

"Self-portrait with Grapes", 2008. My Aunt Lisa has wanted this painting for years, and I'm finally mailing it to her! #procrastination: a celebration.
…that my aunt requested, and I gave to her. Good ol’ Hayley Mills wig!

Saturday morning Daddy/baby dance party πŸ’™
One week ago today: daddy and baby dance party in the kitchen. He has the baby currently–I won the chore chart so I get my 3 hour break from the baby. I’m using it to type this blather and then I’m going to make my Halloween costume.

For me October involves watching a lot of horror films. Today's pick: "The Legend of Hell House", 1973.
It just wouldn’t be October without watching a few scary movies, eh? This one is from 1973 and it’s called “The Legend of Hell House”. It was…okay. Not scary. Almost campy.

Oooh yeahhh ✨✨✨(thanks @ashish).
This is an image from the account of a designer in the UK called Ashish who smothers all of his clothes in sparkle and I LOVE IT ALL.

Day 8: the Cleopatra wig! Worn for Halloween 2011. I was proud of the fact that I made both my Cleopatra and Josh's Marc Antony costumes.
The Cleopatra wig! Back in 2011. I worked SO HARD on our Cleopatra and Marc Antony costumes and then we both got disgusting colds just in time for the party. BOOOOO.

Marc Antony and Cleopatra
Seems to me we were on a lot of cold medicine, here. Heh.

Spotted in my neighbor's yard: zombie flamingoes! Cute! πŸ‘»
My neighbor’s zombie flamingo graveyard is too cute. Josh refuses to do the graveyard in our front yard this year, he tells me it’s “too macabre”. However, he WILL do the giant spider devouring the human skeleton. ?

Prismacolor/metallic ink. Not dated. 🌟✨✨
It’s an older Lizzy drawing, frustratingly NOT dated but it must be after 2008 because I signed it EP Holcomb, my married name. Note to self: ALWAYS DATE EVERYTHING. It will help with the dementia later on.

Day 9: the old lady wig! We dressed up as old people/our "future selves" for Halloween 2014. It was one of my favorites! πŸ‘΅πŸ‘΄
The Old Lady wig! Josh said I looked like the Starbucks logo, which was entirely unintentional.

Test run today of our Halloween costumes and make-up. We watched a bunch of YouTube tutorials on how to make your face look old...then we couldn't stop laughing! I ❀️ Halloween!
This was Halloween 2014, and it was SO much fun. I even had an awful cold which just made me look even more pathetic and elderly. I would have won the costume contest at work, but I didn’t want to stick around an extra 20 minutes because I felt so crappy…now I regret not staying.

Granted, Maggie's had to wait almost 12 years, but now food opportunities are literally falling into her dog mouth! πŸ˜‚
Maggie’s got a real good thing going on with the baby. I’ll have my back turned for a second and he’ll be feeding her his baby crackers!

It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween at Casa Holcomb. πŸ‘»
Starting to decorate the house. Party is in two weeks!

Gotta say, I like the look of the scary portraits against the aqua wall.
Really enjoying the scary portraits against the aqua wall.

'Sup, glitter skeleton. πŸ’€βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
And of course, the glitter skeleton.

Another beautiful Fall day πŸŒ²πŸƒπŸŒΎ
Mixed in with the rain and gloom, we are still having nice days like this.

Day 10: the blonde beehive! I don't remember buying this wig and I don't remember using it for any particular costume...but there it is! Huh. My 20s were craaazy. πŸ˜…
The blonde beehive! I have no memory of buying this wig or using it for any particular costume…although all of my photos from 2005-2007 are gone so anything is possible. It’s a little sad to me how limited my memory is unless I have photo proof. What would I do without obsessive documentation of my life?

9 months of Goo! 😍
Aw, sick Goo. 9 months old! 9 months of this sweet baby boy. I love him so much it catches in my throat sometimes. I sit and look at pictures of his face before I fall asleep because it makes me happy. I slept downstairs this week to spare Josh from my coughing and nose blowing and germs and for 10 straight minutes one night, we just texted each other pictures of our son back and forth. It’s LOVE.

Out buying vitamin C at Walgreens yesterday and discovered that they have a Day of the Dead section. Cool. πŸ’€
Walgreens has a Day of the Dead section now! I resisted. It was hard.

Day 11: the Courtney Love wig! It was called the "white trash" wig on the wig website, but I used it to play Courtney with Josh's Kurt in 2009. It has not aged well. πŸ˜‚
Oh man, the Courtney Love wig did NOT want to cooperate. I did two different sessions with it, a week apart, so I can’t blame the cold…and I hated all of them! The wig kept sliding back and not even my GUM would cooperate. Heigh-ho. What am I gonna do, throw her out? We don’t throw out wigs in this family!

Day 12: the Peg Bundy wig! Worn for Halloween 2012. It's cute. πŸ’–βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
Ah, the Peg Bundy…one of my favorites! I liked how this whole look came together. And being so sick, it even raised my spirits!

Yesterday's clouds were real plump and juicy. ☁️☁️☁️
These big ol’ cumulus clouds look like whipped cream…mmmm…whipped creeeeam. Oh yeah, speaking of food/my low-carb diet, officially this morning I am the same weight as my husband! FINALLY! I’ve lost a little over 50 pounds and only have 12 to go! YAYYYYYY I might even make it to my goal, which was back to my pre-pregnancy weight by December 3rd.

Yes! (thanks @madlymazzy) πŸ˜‚
Christopher sent this to me and I laughed and laughed.

Day 13: the pink bob! Always a good time. πŸŒΈπŸ’•βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨
Finally it’s…the pink bob! One of my favorites, and worn many times with many different outfits.

party on, garth
Here’s Joshy with it on, HA HA. Ta ta!

Baby antics, funny shows, and Grammy

Baby antics, funny shows, and Grammy

Grammy gives Mr. Baby his first bite of ice cream.
Heyyyy bloooog. I’ve had the “add new post” box up for three days, just waiting for the opportunity to write. And here it is! Here’s Mom giving Goo his very first taste of ice cream. We would have waited, but it was important to her, so we let her do it. Of course he loved it!

Catching up on a bit of luxury with Mom last night...classic episodes of Aaaaaabsolutely Faaaaabulous πŸ’–
Plenty of Ab Fabs were watched over the past week (mostly by me, but that’s okay). We also showed Mumsie “Office Space” for her first time.

"Beverly Leslie with your pants so tight, won't you be my partner tonight?"
And of course, per her request, some “Will & Grace”. I wonder how the new season is? Did Beverly Leslie come back too?

Happy Friday! Let's frolic. 🌞🌲🐢
She’s flying back to Boise this afternoon. Josh is driving her to the airport…while I go to the gym and go to the grocery store and frantically try to accomplish some cleaning tasks that are very difficult to get done with a Mr. Baby.

Beautiful sunny day today. 🌞
We went for a walk (or two) every single day that she was here. Sometimes she went for a THIRD walk by herself after dinner. This is a woman recovering from two back surgeries, mind you.

First full day away from my baby while Josh/Goo attend his father's bday bash in Spokane. Mumsie and I bought fresh books, gorged on Oreo milkshakes and watched "Will and Grace". Not a bad way to spend a day baby-free! (I MISS HIM)
On Saturday I let Josh take my baby to Spokane and back in the very same day to attend his father’s 70th birthday party. I definitely missed my baby, but it helped having Mom around to distract me. We walked, snarfed Oreo milkshakes and read books. Not a bad baby-free day!

I can tell Josh has been using my car 😝
A surefire sign that Josh borrowed my car: Paul Anka appeared in the front seat. Gross.

Beach baby β›±
Josh took the baby to the beach this week and let him stick his baby toes in the sand (and pulled him away before he could eat a mouthful of sand).

No editing needed on these stunning hibiscus flowers. 🌺🌺🌺
The hibiscus is doing great.

Somebody wants attention and her name is Maggie dog.
Maggie dog says heyyyyy pay attention to meeeeeeeeee.

Pops and Goo vs Pops and me πŸ’•πŸ’•
My father and Goo vs. my father and me.

Post-haircut: better! I only get my hair cut 2-3 times a year, always the minimum. The hairdresser suggested I cut my hair every 6 weeks...that seems high maintenance to me.
Mumsie and I both desperately needed a trim, so went and got our hair cut together. This is the “after”…I also took a “before” shot, but Flickr seems to have not uploaded it, and I am lazy.

Last shave ice of the summer! 🌺
My mother is interested in Lake Stevens, so we drove around the lake and also stopped for one last shave ice.

#fbf: my baby shower last November with Erika and @idahoagogo πŸ’•(I finally looked at the pictures this morning! πŸ˜‚)
“One last”…because as of September 1st I am officially on a low-carb diet. My weight has stalled with a whopping 20 pounds left to go for months now, and IT WILL NOT STAND. Here’s a shot of me and Erika and Christy at my baby shower last year…I finally got around to looking at the pictures Erika sent!

Nature walks with Mumsie. 🌾
Mumsie off in search of Maggie, who was deep in the forest eating something disgusting.

Bear Cub!
Bear Cub also ate something disgusting during one of our walks…she had a shit-eating grin! What gross animals!

Goo laughing at videos of himself.
This baby loves to look at pictures of himself. He sure takes after his mom!

Maggie is 11 years older than Mr. Bennett but they get along just fine. πŸ’•
Bob and Fleeta brought Mr. Bennett and the kids over yesterday. Maggie and Mr. Bennett got along famously. I miss my dogs playing together like that! It’s been years.

Family walkies! It's hoooot. 🌞
One last family walk. Luckily my mother is going to come back for another visit at the beginning of November. What will Goo be doing by then? Running, at this rate!

Mumsie is flying back home today after a lovely 2-week stay. We're going to miss her!
We’re going to miss you, Grammy!

Alright, time to get this carcass moving. Ta ta for now, bloggers.

Camping with my baby

Camping with my baby

Gym face. Since the arrival of Mr. Baby I only get to go to the gym on the weekend, but I'm glad to do it. If only Planet Fitness had child care! 😝
Hey everybody! It’s my gym face. I only go to the gym once or twice a week now, but I ENJOY it, dammit.

Tiny white flowers in the front yard.
Wonder what these tiny white flowers are in the front yard? They smell similar to lilacs, but not as sweet.

The Endless Summer hydrangea and Maggie dog. πŸ’™
For reasons having nothing to do with me, I am temporarily jobless. BOOOO. However, it’s July, my favorite summer month, I have a freezer full of Mexican popsicles, and all I gotta do is keep my baby alive every day. Life’s not too shabby.

Black currants in the front yard that we've been meaning to pick for a couple weeks now. What would we do with them?
Ah shucks this photo reminds me that we still haven’t picked those black currants in the front yard.

Poor Bear Cub is getting drugged today! She hates fireworks.
I drugged both of the dogs up for the 4th of July, and they did great. Even Mr. Baby did great. I, on the other hand, was extremely grumpy! I couldn’t believe how noisy the fireworks were this year!

Happy 4th! I've got ✨spirit✨✨✨
I glittered myself up for the occasion. I also wore a red/white/blue dress I bought from H&M last year, but I’m not going to post any photos of that because my arms are just too damn fat. I have 5 months to lose 20 pounds. Do you think I can do it???

Ronia and her baby cousin.
Awww look at Goo, secure in the arms of Ronia. She was really the only cousin who paid attention to him. Well, Elliot did come over at one point and affectionately call him, “The spawnliest spawn”, which I took as a compliment.

Aunt Brenna made M. the cutest little outfit.
Brenna made him this super-cute outfit.

Water Cub! πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦
Guess what we did last Thursday?

Baby's first camping trip! Not even 6 months old.
We took our special Goo camping for the first time!

πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’š
He did so good. He even slept in the tent, in his little baby cradle, from 10-6, and didn’t wake up when Bear Cub went BARK BARK BARK at something/someone in the middle of the night.

Bliss
I was so proud of him! Now I don’t have to be nervous for the next time that we go camping. I’d like to go again, ASAP.

Look, there’s me.

Mr. Baby and daddy in matching flannels--how PNW is this? 😍
Fleeta found this tiny flannel for Mr. Baby, and it just happens to match Josh’s perfectly.

Bear Cub at the river's edge. πŸ’¦
We went to one of our favorite spots, and camped with the car nearby, instead of hiking…first time we’d done that since 2010.

My water dogs.
The dogs had a great time, as always. The next camp over had a crazy old skinny man named Dave who smoked weed, gave us oatmeal cookies, and played the damn recorder at 2 o’clock in the morning. Oh Dave!

This one's for you, @dubtrance 😘
I took this photo for Christopher, who has an irrational hatred of my Chacos.

Mr. Baby loves nature.

River Lizzy. πŸ’¦
Welp, I’m just gonna have to be fat this summer. That’s life! That’s what happens when you have a baby!

Let's go back!
Josh in his Hendrix trunks…always a good look.

River sunset.
So pretty.

We went to a matinee of "Alien: Covenant"--the scariest thing was, we were all alone in the theater!
“I wonder when the movie theater will become obsolete?” I asked Josh on the way in to see “Alien: Covenant” Saturday afternoon…and lo and behold, we were the only patrons! Until the film started, and about 3 people trickled in. It was good, but will never top the first two in the series.

Time is going by too quickly! Tonight we start FOOD. πŸ˜‹
Today my big boy is six months old! Time is going by too fast. I’m going to cook him a yam tonight for his first food…can’t wait to see his face!
