I was going to try to “set” the colors, but then I got lazy and just washed everything after the race. Interestingly, the only article of clothing that absorbed any color was the “Buy Nothing Day” I wore under my race tee-shirt. Even the tutu came out white again.

I took the rogs to Marymoor park last week when it was sunny and delightful.

The whole furry fam will be back there on Sunday for THIS, and, I don’t think I’m going to get to mostly walk this 5K!

New, adorable sunglasses, thanks Modcloth (it’s comforting that I can finally afford something from that website). They sold out promptly.

I re-ordered my Saltwater sandals the next size up, and they fit perfectly!

This squash plant is doing well.

Two years after we planted it, the “snow is summer” is finally blooming.

Also finally blooming: the hot pink rhododendron in the front yard, after two boring years of no blooms. It was worth the wait!

Today I am having an HSG test, which involves my uterus, some dye, and a helping of Valium, apparently. Good, um, times? (nope)

The whole shebang kicked off at the Seattle Center Sunday morning, bright and early.

7000 people were registered to run. The race sold out in 4 hours–record time.

We received tee-shirts, sweatbands, temporary tattoos and a packet of color to toss at the finishing line.

Even though we were “late”, we still arrived with plenty of time to wait before the race began.

Taking self-portraits with iphones is kind of tricky.

There were plenty of tutus at the Color Run, as you might imagine.

There were so many runners, people had to start running in waves.

Finally, we were off!

We didn’t do a lot of running. We were with Corinne, after all!

Blue was the first color they threw at us. You could see the upcoming colors by a cloud of pigment.

Yellow was the second color.

Green was the next color, and they went to town on me–someone dumped a handful on my head; someone else splashed some right in my face. I didn’t like that so much.

Some enthusiastic weirdos rolled on the ground, as well.

The final color was orange, a little disappointing to Corinne and I. We were hoping it would be pink or purple.

I got a little nostalgic for Burning Man, I have to say.

You know, the actual race was 10,000 times more fun than training for the race!

I’d do it again! Actually, I am doing it again–we’re doing a 5K this Sunday called “The Big Backyard Run”, with the dogs, at Marymoor Park. I signed us up for it before I knew about the Color Run.

After the run we went and had a big fatty breakfast at “The Breakfast Club”–woo hoo!

…was lots of fun! I have about 200 iphone photos the Boy took to sift through, and I’m working for a couple of days. But I’ll be back soon!

The Boy is out today hiking/skiing/hopefully not falling up and down Mount St. Helens. I’m praying he won’t have any injuries. I’m gonna need him in tip-top shape tomorrow morning to coach Corinne and I through the Color Run (yay?), which I have, as of this morning, gained just about 10 pounds for since I started “training” in February. NOT HAPPY, DUDES. Thank God those tie-dyed capri pants I bought streeeeeeetch! Then–well, I’m just going to have to go vegan again! It’s the only thing that works!

WISH US LUCK! I’ll definitely bring the camera to document our outfits before and after the race–during the race though, nope, no waaaaay. I also purchased some fresh goggles. Perhaps today I’ll Bedazzle ‘em. Yeeeeeah. Rhinestones make everything better.

It was a beautiful sunny day, and the park was barely populated.

I saw a man holding a beautiful chubby baby on a park bench. Lately I’ve noticed an alarming development–when I see an especially cute baby I hear this demon voice growling, “Give me your baby.” Should I be concerned?

Corinne claims she never has these biological pulls towards children. Ever. “Have you ever taken a hit off a baby head, though?” I asked her. She scoffed.

Tomorrow’s forecast: 65 and 0% chance of rain. My boss is asking if anyone wants to work tomorrow. I haven’t worked since April. Should I take it?

Upcoming vacations this year (so far) include two trips to Portland and one trip to San Francisco in September for my cousin’s wedding. I am SO excited!

After we strolled around the park we drove over to Auntie Corinne’s house for a little visit.

She had a root canal appointment that I graciously offered to drive her to. I’m so sweet!

I’ve had a fruitless search for neon lace trim on the internet. I know it must exist, but finding it sure has been a pain in the ass. I NEED YOU, NEON LACE TRIM.

Today: babysitting. Dogs. Avoid cake.

That last item is harder than you might think.

It’s a sad day, friends, because Maurice Sendak has passed away. He lived to the ripe old age of 83.

But never mind that, yesterday for our “new and exciting thing” we…went to Fremont. Which isn’t new, or terribly exciting, but it was a beautiful sunny day and Fremont is always fun.

On the side of Archie McPhee’s it said, “Less talking! More monkey!” but I really think that should be reversed.

We came back through Wallingford on the way home to stop at a frozen yogurt place. This one had multiple flavors on the walls and it was completely self-serve. Do you know how dangerous that is?

Hallo, troll. There were several Goth weirdos trolling (heh) about with black capes on but I didn’t capture them in time, drat. Goths during the daytime = hil-a-rious.

We dropped by the antique mall because I’m obsessed with it and I managed to avoid buying more Lucite grapes. Look at this suitcase, ooooweeee!

All in all it was a nice day. And today the sun is shining–FINALLY! I hope it stays all week!

* the weight gain has only been the past month, thank God, which means it’ll be easier to take off, and it’s COMPLETELY due to my horrible diet. I’ve been eating like a pregnant women, for cry-yi, and I ain’t pregnant (I think). I even put myself on “The Biggest Loser 7 Day Diet Plan“, and I’ve cheated every day! Wahhhhhhh!
