Broads, palm trees and fashion dreams realized

Me and my Broad (❤️ @corinne_spoja).
Blarg! I don’t have a lot of photo offerings at the moment (I’m dying to take more pictures of the New House but it’s not ready), so here are some blurry IG photos. I Heart Corinne. We both agreed last time we hung out that we’re just going to be friends forever, and there’s no reason not to. I mean, if your friendship can survive sobriety at different times, as she pointed out, what other obstacles are left? Hmmm? I find it comforting.

Palm tree in the front yard! I ❤️palm trees. Reminds me of my youth.
Of the many cool features in the front and back yards, I find this baby palm tree especially fun. I’ve always had a fondness for palm trees. I mean hell, if palm trees can successfully grow in Washington what else can I put it my yard? Do you think I could get an avocado tree to grow?! Mmmm, avocadoooo. By the way, I read that avocados are on the list of Things You Shouldn’t Feed Your Dog. Not that I would, I mean, they’re expensive!

Just beginning the lengthy process of organizing the sewing/"beauty" room. The dress form looked naked, so I threw a kimono and Mardi Gras beads on her.
I’m slowly starting to put together my sewing/”beauty” room (there was no other room that had the light I needed for my vanity table). The dressform was naked, so I threw a kimono and some chunky Mardi Gras beads and a beautiful heavy stone necklace my Aunt Lisa recently gave to me on her. I’ve just started pulling out fabric from boxes (note the red fluff from some shed-happy faux fur on the floor)–I have to say, it’s really fun re-discovering all the fabric I’ve hoarded over the years!

Watching "Peggy Sue Got Married" for the first time since I was a little kid. I remember loving Kathleen Turner's silver dress...fitting that I now own a massive silver petticoat as an adult!
Well, thanks cable (I guess) because last night I found “Peggy Sue Got Married” on the tv. I found that I enjoyed it far more as an adult than I did as a little kid, although I liked it back then, too. I was especially delighted to see that the silver dress Kathleen Turner wears in the beginning reunion scene looks EXACTLY like my silver petticoat!

I mean, how about that, huh? I loved her silver dress as a child and now, as an adult, I possess the same damn fabulous garment. Dreeeeeeams realized!

With a few false starts–like a lot of brown flakes in the washing machine (FYI blogreader that is a build-up of fabric softener and can be easily removed with vinegar) and some trouble with a kinked hose, Josh and I successfully purchased a used washer/dryer set for less than 250 bucks and installed it ourselves. I was skeptical, but so far so good! And if indeed our cheap-o washer/dryer combo fails in the next 90 days, it is under warranty. Phew.

We’re both working on Thanksgiving, of course, but later that evening we’ll be taking the Broad over to Josh’s grandmother’s house for Thanksgiving dinner, which will be nice. It always is. I should probably make something to bring over, huh? Or maybe I’ll just um, buy some tasty cookies. I am a busy woman, after all. Happy Thanksgiving blog-logs! I wish you full bellies and peaceful times. I’ll be back on Friday to discuss the all-important BUY NOTHING DAY!
