Hair, dogs and art

Proof of a recent GBD/Good Bangs Day. I always feel the need to document these rare and wondrous instances.

It’s Tuesday, I’m off work early and it’s NOT pouring rain (for once) and I’m about to shake it around with the pets, as we do.

Here’s Mommy’s Little Squirrels attacking a new dogfriend at the park named Buster. Buster is an adorable black and white Lab mix who looks a lot like Maggie did at that age and has the unfortunate habit of slamming his entire body into my kneecaps. His owner also had an unfortunate habit: staring at my chest while I attempted to make small talk about dogs. Good thing it’s winter and I was wearing 3 layers of clothing, GROSS LOOK AT MY FACE WHEN I SPEAK TO YOU.

Speaking of PMS (ha!), Josh bought me these neon pink roses to be sweet. He’s a sweet dude. He also sweetly drew me a coupon for “free housekeeping service” for a year, and it will be REALLY sweet if he follows through and actually sets it up. I’ve been fantasizing about someone else cleaning my house for a looooong time and now it’s time to make that dream a reality.

I don’t need much–just a little dusting and application of some cleaning products and removing the dog hair build-up, every two weeks. The thought of not having to do 90% of the housework makes me feel all…centered and warm! Hey, how about that Ab Fab movie, huh? Who wants to get celebritied up?! I hope it plays in theaters!

Remember the Prismacolor self-portrait set I did a few years ago? Josh had always advised me to glitter up the frame, and I finally took his advice and did it. Viola! Major improvement! Everything is better with sparkle.

Using the easel like a “real” painter! Squeal and squeak! I am determined to Create More Art this year.

Of course, Insta-shamming everything is still enjoyable too. I laid on the couch on Sunday, crippled with cramps and added a happy little rainbow filter effect to this dreary scene outside the window.

Watching “Best in Show” did wonders for my cramps. I also worked my way through the entire 4th season of “Portlandia”, and I have to say…best season ever!

Blast from the past: my mother, her two younger sisters and their mother. I found this while digging through all the mounds of photos at my parents’ house…I love this picture. It’s so happy!

My cousin Flynn’s wife Molly’s mother died recently and it’s a very sad thing. My aunt Lisa has had her hip pop out twice since her hip surgery, and that’s a sad thing as well. I need to send her prayers, good vibes and maybe a pretty card to cheer her up. I’m currently reading “Born to Run”, a very interesting book that is not really encouraging me to pick up running again, but nevertheless a fascinating read. Josh advised me to read it in Hunter S. Thompson’s voice and that was great advice. I’m thinking about taking up Pilates again after taking the last 2 months off for New House stuff. Maggie and Bear Cub are giving me the full-on dog stare right now: PARK TIME LET’S GO. Time to go!
