60’s dresses and coconut oil

dressed up for Hedwig
Dressed up for the Hedwig show Wednesday night in my 1960’s purple velveteen (teeny tiny) dress, black Zella leggings, and knee-high boots. Normally I would have gone for some decorated flats but it was absolutely pouring rain Wednesday and I had no desire to have soaked feet during the show.

I didn’t bring my camera to the theater, and once the show started, phones were prohibited (good!), but the Boy and I snagged a couple of pre-and post-show shots which aren’t particularly worth posting here. You can see them on my Instagram (@artwaif). I started an Instagram set on Flickr ages ago but haven’t really added to it–unless it’s something unusual, all of the photos I take with my iphone are of the same things I take with my regular camera! I can’t imagine giving up my camera and switching exclusively to the iphone for photos. Maybe if the iphone shots were somehow better, but they’re not. I am, however, impressed with what the Boy does using the “Camera +” app and his iphone. His Instagram is @djmagicelf–if you like photos of snow and landscapes, check it out.

I painted my nails silver to match the dress. I was planning on doing uber drag queeny false eyelashes, but at the last second didn’t feel like dealing with the aftermath of eyelash glue at work. I’m about due for some new eye make-up remover…although I hear coconut oil works! Note to self: look into coconut oil. Of course, I’ve been frequenting xojane now for a long time and the commenters/writers are REALLY into coconut oil, for everything. To clean your face, cure zits (how does that work?) moisturize…it’s like the new Dr. Bronner’s All-One! (yes we ARE all one, Dr. Bronner, but that doesn’t mean you should brush your teeth with that shit–I’ve done it once and never again!).

It’s Friiiiday! I worked a whopping 3 days this week and feel pretty pleased with myself. Received a lot of compliments from little old men (I love my job). Started the South Beach Diet yesterday–I will try not to talk about it very much because I know, LORD DO I KNOW, diet talk is just about the most boring talk there is. The Boy had a semen analysis this morning–we’ll have the results in 3 days. Here’s hoping he has some good swimmers, oof. Currently I’m waiting for the Broad to call me back; drinking coffee. The rogs are waiting expectantly for their afternoon jaunt to the park. They keep me on my toes! Happy Friday! Who should I paint next? Inspiiiiiire me.

  1. I keep getting this error sign that says “fatal error: Theme CSS could not load after 20 sec”, but only since I switched to Windows 8. Anyone else seeing this message?

  2. Coconut oil works extremely well for eyemakeup removal – although I have only used it once. It does leave a greasy residue but I’m sure it’s super duper good for moisturising though!
