“I’d rather you go bald to school than looking like a tramp.”

the glorious blue coat
This bee-you-tea-full blue coat was my big Christmas present to the Boy. It was expensive, but it’s fabulous–and we keep finding new, exciting features–like a tiny hidden pocket in the sleeve that has a glasses cleaner inside for wiping off your snow goggles.

When we went to REI to pick it out I noticed the dude helping us had a pin on his shirt that just said, in all caps, YES.

“I like your pin!” I told him, gesturing to my own, smaller yes! pin attached to my coat.

“We all have to wear these,” he shrugged.

“Could I have one?” I asked, sweetly.

I watched as he went through the chain of command (they all had amused, but slightly confused expressions on their faces) before handing me his own YES pin. “I’ll get another one!” he said cheerfully.

YES
Success! I love “YES“! It’s one of my favorite words! Thanks, REI! The coat is nice, too!

good genes and sunscreen.

sunbeam on the wall
Today’s goal: pettipants pettipants pettipaaaaaaants. I am impatiently awaiting arrival of the clothing tags I ordered on New Year’s Eve. The Boy requested beef stew for dinner. Ew. Well, that’s what I get for asking. Joan Crawford lost a bunch of weight eating beef and tomatoes! And knitting! And…being mean! I’m sure being mean burns calories.
