Parks, old women, and wedding (guest) dresses

Mountlace Terrace dog park
Here’s part of the Mountlace Terrace park the rogs and I went to on Thursday. I pulled up and no dog park was visible, so I just started walking around…

ferny trail
…and stumbled upon some very steep walking trails. Still no dog park. I ran into a girl hiking and asked her if she knew where the dog park was.

“Right up there!” she said, pointing up a mountain (slight exaggeration). “It’s a little steep, though…”

steep path
Uh yeah, no kidding. I actually became out of breath during the walk up this trail and had to stop and take pictures. Heh.

We finally arrived at the dog area and it was just a small, fenced-off square of woods with two dogs hanging around that Maggie and Bear Cub weren’t especially interested in. So then we went to visit Auntie Corinne.

Corinne's fabulous afghan project
Look at her afghan! Gorgeous! It was 80 degrees that day, which is about as hot as Seattle gets, generally. I was wearing a bikini top with a tank top and running shorts, and Corinne was wearing a long-sleeved shirt and workout pants, sitting on her couch crocheting like an 80-year-old woman. Mawwww.

green silk dress
In other news, my cousin is getting married in Berkeley at the beginning of September, and I found this gorgeous silk dress from J. Crew on ebay for only 30 bucks (free shipping!). I was pleased as punch until it arrived and noticed it has a series of tiny grease stains on the back–not mentioned AT ALL in the ad (VERY BAD, ebay seller).

tri color dress
Good thing I ordered a “back-up” dress from Modcloth, yay! It arrived yesterday. Sooo cute. Very appropriate too for a hot, outdoor wedding.

Also my teal platform sandals match it, so I can stop obsessively Googling “silver glitter high-heeled sandals” like a maniac.

In other, other news, I’m leaving this afternoon to go to Boise for a week. Mumsie is finally having surgery on the ovary she’s had a cyst on for years, and I’m going to try my best to take care of her. I don’t generally blog while I’m in Boise–I tried it one year and they had some sort of horrible “safe” filter set on their computer that actually changed the wording of my blog–even innocent words like “girl”. Ugh. No fun at all. Just remember blog-logs, I love you!
