More camping part 3: fly fishing and swimming rogs

early morning mountains
These eeeearly morning mountain shots are by the Boy, of course. In nature, he wakes up between 6 and 7. Thanks to Trazadone, I wake up “naturally” between 9 and 10…anywhere.

sunrise camp
At least he didn’t videotape me waking up, a’la last time.

dirty Maggie
Ha ha, dirty Maggie! I finally broke down and bathed them in the front yard yesterday. Bear Cub was scratching up a storm and I wanted it to stop. I had to cut chunks of sap off of poor old Maggie’s fur.

Joshy in the morning
Coffee and bagels with whipped cream cheese for breakfast! Now, how is it that I gained two pounds on this camping trip? Oh yeah, it was the incredibly unhealthy dinner we ate on the way home at some “Twin Peaks” cafe that promised “amazing” pie. I ordered the banana cream pie, and it was FAKE BANANA. Sacrilege!

rocky rogs
After breakkie we walked over to the river so the Boy could do a little fly fishing and I could do a little…

riverside
…well, you know. Heh.

Here’s Maggie and Bear Cub foolishly (but adorably!) crossing the river, assuming we were following them. Ha!

river rock
It’s hard coming up with clever titles for these photos that aren’t just “rocks” “river”, and “mountains”.

fly fishing
Thar he goes. He didn’t catch anything. “Maybe there’s no fish around here,” I suggested helpfully, but he reminded me of that enormous brown trout we saw last year.

heart
I like to amuse myself on camping trips by finding heart-shaped rocks. This one almost qualified.

Joshy fly fishing
He let me pick out a fly. Well, almost. I went for the sparkly, iridescent one (of course!), and he said I should go for a more realistic fly. Maybe if he had used my fly, we would have been feasting on trout!

Maggie swims
That Maggie dog loves to be wet.

paw prints
Maw, little paw prints!

Stay tuned for the finale, tomorrow: “Adventure Liz: Love on the Rocks“.
