Nature, birthday plans, and Christmas questions

On Sunday we took the rogs to the Nature Preserve, a beautiful little series of paved hiking trails that I used to frequent more often before I started going to the park.

I wore my blue sweatpants, which the Boy deemed “athletic”-looking but to me just screamed “period pants”. S’okay! I was all Midol-d up that day, thank GOD. What on earth did I do before Midol came into my life? Suffered, sisters.

the fun barrier
The fun barrier! The girls immediately ran past it and into the golf course next door, but rushed back when we called them. Thank goodness they’re so co-dependent. They’ll never run away.

It was such a beautiful day. Sunny and not terribly cold, although towards the end of the walk my fingers were frozen into little popsicles. Raynaud’s!

This is going to be a good weekend! We’re going to a drag queen show Friday night (I still don’t know what I’m wearing yet). Saturday we’re dropping the rogs off at a kennel and we’re going to stay at a nice hotel for my birthday weekend–my idea.

Bear Cub and Josh
Every year for my birthday I always say “Oh, let’s just go out to dinner” which is nice, but I wanted to do something different this year. And I LOVE staying at nice hotels with crisp linens and big huge jet-powered, clean bathtubs! Heavennnnn!

The kennel doesn’t do pick-ups on Sundays, so I’ll have to pick the rogs up on Monday, which is my actual birthday. December 3rd! So Sagittarius it hurts!

Seems like I know a ton of people who have birthdays in December. moss covered tree
I’m getting a haircut today. I trim my own bangs but I noticed in the mirror when I was checking out my butt (what, you don’t do that?) that the left side of my hair is longer than the right. The Boy tried to tell me that “asymmetrical hair is so trendy” but I’m not buying it.

Later today I’d like to kick off something called Wig Wednesday, which really just involves me, a wig, and a self-portrait. And YOU, blogreader! Let’s make this a THING. Fun for the whole family!

I think on Sunday we’re getting our Christmas tree. I’ve noticed a ton of people on Instagram have their trees up already. Call me old-fashioned (and raised by procrastinating parents who often don’t have their tree up until Christmas week) but isn’t it weird to have a tree up before December starts? A REAL tree, I mean. I don’t go for fake trees*. I require the nostalgic smell of a real tree for the “full experience”.

The Boy and I decided our Christmas ornament this year to signify something special we did in 2012 would be San Francisco-themed. Too bad we didn’t think of that when we were actually in San Francisco, but eh, that’s okay.

Fake tree or real tree, blogreader? Are you an overachiever and have you started wrapping presents crazily early this year, like moi? Would you like to participate in Wig Wednesday AND, what did you think of the winner of RuPaul’s AllStars? I thought she was deserving of the crown. Although I looooove me some Jujubee, sigh.

* I can appreciate a kitschy glitter tree though, don’t get me wrong! But I’d have to have it up all year, with a constant rotation of obnoxious ornaments. You know.
