Nostalgia, impatient Maggie and hunger pains

One of my fav photos of my brother and I. I was very dedicated to sunbathing!
This is one of my favorite photos of my brother and I. I was going to submit it to the Patagonia company a million years ago to run in their catalog (if you are wearing Patagonia clothing in your picture, they’ll run it), but I never did. Too bad! It’s perfect. My brother is fishing, there’s snow on the ground, and I’m SUNBATHING. This was taken in McCall, Idaho. I was just telling my mother-in-law that sunbathing season in Boise used to start for me in March. Here in Seattle, where I’ve lived for the past 9 years (!), summer doesn’t even start until August! Ah well, it’s better for my skin, really. Have you seen elderly people from Arizona? Wrinkle City.

Every time I move a muscle Maggie leaps to her feet, assuming I’m taking her to the park. And I WILL, I WILL, sheeeeesh, just let me pour another cup of coffee into my maw. I still harbor under the illusion that coffee gives me some sort of “perk”, but let’s face it, my tolerance is just too high. Maybe if I started drinking espresso.

Dying to know how my juice fast went yesterday, are ya? Of course you aren’t, but I’ll say anyway. I cheated with a banana, some carrot sticks, and some sautéed mushrooms, drank juice the rest of the time, AND WAS HUNGRY ALL DAY LONG. Josh didn’t struggle at all, he maintains he does fasting for “spiritual reasons” and somehow his spirituality = no hunger pains. He’s actually doing it again today. I have no idea why. Once was enough for me. I did lose the weight I put on last weekend though, so um, yay? Happy Friday! Eat some pizza and think of me.

  1. I’m doing a 3-day juice cleanse next week, I’ve never done one before and have little self-control so I hope I can actually handle it. Maybe I’ll try to convince myself it’s for spiritual reasons if it helps 🙂

    1. 3 days! Good luck, toots! I really don’t understand why drinking liquids doesn’t make me feel “full”–in terms of WW points, I still used ’em up! There’s just something about chewing, I guess. I did blenderized smoothies in the morning and Josh juiced some veggies at night–the veggie drink was the exact color of baby poop. It was, however, oddly tasty.
