The Bubble Run was a lot of fun!

pre Bubble run faces

Saturday morning bright and early around 7:40-ish Josh and I drove to downtown Everett to participate in the Bubble Run 5K, which started at 8. We had no trouble finding parking, and were about 15 minutes early to the race. the crowd

I had already picked up our race packets on Thursday, and this time I took Brenna’s advice and ordered myself a size small women’s tee-shirt, which ended up fitting just fine. My brain still thinks in terms of junior sizing, and in junior size, I’m a medium, sometimes large! NO MORE JUNIOR SIZING. I was a little sorry that I didn’t wear my white tutu, once we got to the race and tutus were everywhere.

at the start

In terms of size, the Bubble Run was comparable to the Color Runs we’ve done in the past–about 19,000 people participated. Pretty big crowd. What confused us is that after we finished the race, stopped and had a fruit drink and chatted with the guy who started the half-marathon we are doing in October, there were tons of people lined up still to get their packets! Close to 9 am! I never saw anything like that at the Color Run. What a bunch of slackers!

waiting to run

Runners stayed on the left; walkers, strollers and “dancers” (i.e. little kids) stayed on the right. We ran the entire time, except for a very brief pause for a drink of water halfway through the race. I get really thirsty when I run. Probably because my mouth hangs open, like a dog, panting.

across the street

Nothing to do with the race, really, this church just happened to be across the street and I thought it was pretty.

Lizzie is running

Off and “running”! Jogging slowly. We ran the race in about 36 minutes, so I’m averaging about 11.5 minutes per mile. Considering even in high school I ran a 10 minute mile, I feel pretty good about that. I am not about speed.

running is fun

I AM about having a good time, though! Woot woot!

Josh is rocking out

And so is this dude! Here he is rocking out to Daft Punk, following the blue foam station.

green foam

There were 4 different foam stations to run through–first pink, then green, then blue, and finally, yellow. You basically just run through a big ol’ wall of colored foam. It’s fun! It tie-dyes your clothes a bit, but luckily it doesn’t dye your skin nearly as much as the Color Runs do.

about to hit the blue

During the last portion of the race we kept in pace with a nice gal named Dusty, and we chatted about races we’ve done in the past, and the half-marathon we’re doing in October. We made a race friend! Mawwwww.

Post-run, in the car. Nice red face, self!

Bubble Run tattoo

Here’s my happy little Bubble Run temporary tattoo.

I scrubbed off the remnants of the tattoo this morning before my appointment at the root canal doctor. Yep, that’s right–a visit to my dentist on Friday confirmed the source of all my various aches and pains–an infected old root canal that was done by a crappy dentist YEARS ago. Matter of fact, I think I even wrote a blog entry about it. Here it is!

I started having horrible tooth pain yesterday after Josh and I went for a hike, so I texted my boss to tell her I was going to try to get an appointment today and needed the day off. She was very understanding and was able to get my shift covered, and I lucked out this morning and was able to have the entire procedure done. Thank YOU, person who called in sick!

Now I’m recovering with half a numb face, and prescriptions for amoxicillin and Norco. Not particularily Good Times, but I’m glad it’s taken care of. I’m looking forward to a pain-free visit to Boise later this week!

BRB. I’m going to take the animals for a quick walk and then I’ll be back to blog about our hike yesterday. I mean, what else have I got to do, huh?
