Pink Fluffy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows
Hello, blerg! I’m just over here living that artsy-fartsy lifestyle. Here I am with two of the members of the art group I meet up with every two weeks. We looked especially cute that day.
What have we been up to since I last blogged? Goo had his 9th birthday. We booked a table at a trampoline place and it turned out to be perfect–a nice tight two hour party that I did not have to set up OR clean up. Fabulous. Afterwards we went out to his favorite sushi restaurant. He doesn’t eat sushi, he just likes the ambiance. Here’s Mumsy and Josh at dinner that night.
Here’s the Christmas ornament Josh and I collaborated on. It was finally complete after Christmas, but that’s okay–the way we designed it, every time I publish another book, it can get added onto the ornament! He made the little books out of wood and I painted them and added the covers, and then he pushed the metal links in to make them attached.
I’m still teaching a once a month art class at my nursing home. I tried to do “tie dye” with alcohol inks on ceramic coasters, but I bought unglazed which apparently doesn’t work as well as glazed and they looked terrible. So I quickly improvised to simple painted coasters with a positive message–I taught the class on MLK day and I suggested themes like unity, peace, love, etc.. It was a nice experience.
Besides going to yoga, sometimes Rachel and I do fun girly activities like buying self-care items at Ulta, going to the co-op and the occasional thrifting adventure.
I bought us this cute little celestial yin/yang friendship necklace to celebrate our friendship. She’s so sweet. A true friend. Having both recovered from toxic friendships, we appreciate each other.
This is one of the partially assembled pieces I made for the kindergarten art auction! I made two canvases because there were too many sea creatures to just fit on one canvas. They turned out SO ADORABLE and I can’t believe I didn’t take pictures of the finished product! Boo. I’ll have to make sure I do that at the auction next month.
My little guy still likes having his nails painted by mama. Lately he’s been asking to have his ears pierced, but at only six years old, he’s too young! He likes turbans but is not too crazy about wearing heavy costume jewelry. I get it. The big one is not into anything femme but he loves to draw fanciful bugs all day and he inspired the title of this blog entry by playing that song for me right before I sat down to write.
Who’s a pretty little girl? This black hound is always by my side. She loves being outside and catching a tennis ball and being dirty. Typical Lab stuff.
The boys had their annual derby race through Cub Scouts and Josh and I helped them make their little cars, which they designed themselves. I really loved the little one’s brown bear sitting on a log! He would have taken first place but his log car jumped the track on the last run. The big one won though. Good job, little guys!
Currently: Josh and I just finished yet another cold. I’m adding three new pieces of art in my Etsy shop this week. My new artist friend is off to rehab for weed for 21 days, and I’m gonna miss her. I’m thinking of trying a Pilates studio. My brother is coming to visit this weekend, so Mom and I will finally see his daughter again (it’s been a couple of years!). I’m in physical therapy for my back AGAIN. I’m going back on the Pill to manage my horrible periods and anemia! YAY PERIMENOPAUSE! And will he just die already? You know who I mean. Bye for now.
