My brain is roaming and I don’t know where it’s going

muffy
I finally changed out the c.d.’s in my car today–it holds 6 c.d.’s, and I’ll leave the same ones in there for months at a time, listening to them over and over until finally I’ve had enough. I put in Madonna (Madonna’s always in there–last time it was “Erotica”, now it’s “Confessions on a Dance Floor” again because really, I CAN’T GET ENOUGH), Kristin Hersch for a little high school nostalgia, Beastie Boys, Neon Indian because I’ve only listened to their c.d. once, I don’t remember the fifth, and good ol’ Fugazi, speaking of high school nostalgia.

I’ve posted this video before, but here it is again: Fugazi performing “Waiting Room” live. I love this song, and I love the audience’s enthusiasm in this video.

foil hat
Along with my new favorite pink fluffy earmuffs, I also purchased this green “foil” hat from ASOS, but I don’t really like it. I thought the whole hat was green, and instead it’s black with green foil. I haven’t decided what to do with it. Put it on ebay? Anybody want it?

black and white shirt
Work outfit from last Friday. It’s nice being able to dress up every day for work–do my hair, make-up, wear whatever I want, basically. I’m lucky as a speech therapist–we don’t have to deal with as many fluids, typically, so I don’t have to wear scrubs or (ugh) a uniform. I suppose I could do an “Outfit of the Day” blog post, but that seems like a lot of effort, doesn’t it? Maybe when I start making more money and can afford some cuter clothes, bwa ha ha. Har. I still haven’t found the perfect black wedge shoe yet. I have this Fantasy Shoe thing happen to me once or twice a year…it’s exhausting!

I just drank a little ginseng shot that I bought at the vitamin store, and it’s given me exactly what I hoped: a burst of energy. I had better get on that treadmill now. Anyone have any recommendations for good shows to work out to? We watched several seasons of “The Biggest Loser” back in 2011 and burnt ourselves out. Recently I watched all 3 seasons of Jackie Warner’s show “Work Out”, and it was pretty good. What else is there that’s fitness-y? Help Mumma.

  1. Love all of your music choices. Waiting Room is one of my favorites! As far as treadmill shows go, have you seen The Fabulous Beekman Boys? You’d LOVE it.

  2. I did watch the first season of that show. Did you know Josh Kilmer-Purcell used to be a drag queen in New York? He wrote a great memoir about his alcoholism and that period of his life called “I Am Not Myself These Days”. Really good. I still remember the haunting imagery of his crack addicted boyfriends’ dried-out lips, for some reason. Maybe because my lips are chapped.
