Gardening, running, and kittens with the Broad

floral trees
A recent trip to a nursery that I USED to be obsessed with. Apparently the old nursery moved, and the nursery that exists in the same place has about 1/2 the merchandise. Sniff! Sob! The old nursery was so good!

purple thistles
That said, these thistle plants caught my eye. I’ve always been obsessed with these plants. I would have bought one, but they were almost 20 dollars and that seemed a little outrageous to me. Someone on IG gave me a hot tip for a new nursery I’ve never been to when I complained about this one. Thanks, IG friend!

tomatoes and cucumbers
We went to the nursery to obtain a few more items for our garden…we finally put in a garden this year, hooray! Tons of tomatoes, a few cucumbers…

putting in the herb garden
…and a row of herbs including two kinds of basil, oregano, rosemary, and garlic chives (mmmm). We’re also planting Romaine lettuce, carrots, and lots and lots of flowers. Expect a lot of gardening photos this year.

pink poppy baby
I’m also growing the pale pink poppies I’ve been obsessed with for years. Score!

Color Run outfit test
Test run in my Color Run outfit last weekend. Josh was out this morning running 16 miles in preparation for the “Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon” he’s planning on doing next month. Sir Mix A Lot is one of the headliners, but, my obsessive love for “Baby Got Back” aside…he’s not quite enough to prompt me to run a marathon. Or even a half marathon, shee-yit. I have to do a 10K first. Baby steps!

white kitten
Speaking of babies, yesterday I went over to the Broad’s to check out her kitten collection. Her landlady’s cat just had kittens and then the landlady went out of town, so she left the mama cat and four kittens at Corinne’s for 10 days.

Novacaine being chill
Novocaine’s been handling the new arrivals just fine, but the mama cat has been freaked out the entire time she’s been at Corinne’s. Not to mention Corinne already has a new highly dysfunctional rescue cat named Matilda who spends a lot of time in the shoe closet.

kitten crazy
Who doesn’t like to play with kittens? Of course, I’m reminded of what my dad always says: “Kittens are great! The problem is, they turn into cats.”

Corinne and her new baby
The litter included two white kittens and two black and white kittens, or “tuxedo” kittens, as Corinne calls them. She’s keeping one white male and one black and white male, bringing her Crazy Cat Lady total to: 4 cats. She told me yesterday that this was her “peak” as a Crazy Cat Lady–even to herself, four cats was pushing it. I HOPE SO, CORINNE.

Eskimo kitten kiss
With seven cats in the house and two of them with issues, there was no way I was going to bring the dogs over! I enjoyed kitten time sans dogs, and it was nice.

Bonus: here’s a little video of the white kittens attacking each other. Mawwwww.

kitten and tail
After kitten time we went to Walgreens to purchase items to remove our shellac manicures (success!). Later on, Josh and I took Bear Schnubs to get professionally groomed. We prepped her by having her go skiing with Josh all day to wear her out, and then added a sedative on top of that, so everything went smoothly! She’s a very shorn Cub now. I need to take pictures.

Happy Sunday! I’ve already done my run for today, so my next goal is to work on the Holly Woodlawn painting. I’m ready to start a new painting already, SHEESH.
