Kauai, Day 3, part 2: Lawai Beach

in the blossoms
Welcome back to the ongoing Kauai Chronicles. Here we are on Day 3, stopping at the Grind’s Cafe for coconut lattes and sugary treats. The flora matched my outfit nicely.

church
Driving around (we did a looooot of driving on this trip…did I mention that I was nauseous nearly every day?), this cool-looking church caught my eye.

Waimea fruit stand
Back at the colorful fruit stand in Waimea for some lunch.

Waimea Lizzy
I bought the turtle necklace in Maui, three years ago. This was the first time I’d worn it.

Waimea Joshy
Heeeeey buuuuuuddy. We had pork sandwiches, and they were everything I wanted them to be. Something about Hawaii makes me want to ingest foods that I would normally turn my nose up at–pork, spam. Everything tastes delicious.

no parking sign
Crashing waves on the road near Lawai Beach, our next snorkeling destination after the Pihea Trail Hike.

the green at Lawai Beach
Lawai Beach featured a nice-looking expanse of manicured lawn to sunbathe on.

palm tree poser
After the hike, I opted not to go snorkeling. I just wanted to “relax”/peoplewatch for a little while. The lawn was covered with little Russian girls doing yoga poses and backflips and tumbling, until one of them got hurt and started screaming. That put an end to that. There was also an older blonde woman with an intense amount of plastic surgery who I was trying not to stare at (it was hard).

Joshy on the green
This dude went snorkeling, of course. That Joshy, always on the move!

surfers trying their luck
Trying to capture some surfers, surfing.

Lawai Beach view
The view across the beach. This was fairly late in the afternoon, so it wasn’t terribly crowded.

turtle quest
Can you spot the turtle? He was large, but he blended in with the rocks and was camera shy.

water sparkle
Mmm, I love that sparkle.

Kauai Pasta
We rounded out Day 3 with a delicious dinner at “Kauai Pasta”, which was near our hotel in Kapa’a.

L at Kauai Pasta
I can’t tell you what I had, but I know that it was good.

Coming up in the Kauai Chronicles: The boat ride to gawk at the spectacular Na Pali coastline! One of the highlights of the trip. I’m going to take my time editing those photo.

In other news, RuPaul is draaaaaagging (ha!) out the finale of “Drag Race”. I had carefully avoided Twitter and Instagram yesterday as to not read any spoilers, but apparently it’s just another “reunion” episode this week, heigh ho! Oh well, I’m sure we’ll be riveted tonight anyway! Ta ta for now.
