Moms, Art, and somebody new!

Howdy ho, blog-logs! Here’s Mumsie and me last month on Mother’s Day. We went to the little arboretum and looked at some flowers. The boys washed my car, per my request.

Mid-May, my artist friend Lauren and I participated in a small showing at an art gallery in Bothell. There was a cute little reception, Rachel and her family came and brought me flowers! Maw. The boys had Cub Scouts that night and weren’t able to attend. After, Lauren and I went to a nice sushi restaurant in Bothell that had a conveyer belt, mmmmm.

I showed two paintings, the one above, titled “Love is Love” and “Arlene with Banana Leaves”, one of my favorites.

Then the day after the art show, we went to Barter Faire! I’d heard about it for years–my friend Lisa has been going for decades and I think she finally gave up on inviting me. Goo’s school friend goes every year with her parents, and they invited us to camp with them this year. It was so much fun!

The drive was about 4 hours to a great big flat spot somewheres in central Washington. We camped for three days and two nights, and brought about 200$ for food/fun stuff and not NEARLY enough things to barter! There were tons of stands set up with artists peddling tie dye, art, food.

I shockingly restrained myself to one item, this piece of art. Lisa was there! And her daughter Aurora. Of course I don’t have a single photo of us together. I was pretty bad about taking pictures, and also I FROZE MY ASS OFF. It was SO COLD! The other parents have been trying to persuade me to come back for Fall Faire–they don’t bring the kids and do party drugs–but I prefer not to freeze my ass off, thank you very much. Tent camping is not super fun when you’re too cold to sleep.

My hair at the beginning of May was pink, aqua mid-month (super short lived, unfortunately), and has been purple most recently. Mid-life crisis hair coloring is shifting quickly! Yahhhhhhhh!

We were invited to an artist’s friend’s lake cabin for a party. Even though I didn’t bring a change of clothes or bathing suits for the boys, they couldn’t resist all the floaties Cathy had blown up and they got into that cold lake water! Brave little water boys.

New bikini, size LARGE, and I’m super stoked that it actually 100% covers my ENTIRE BUM BUM. I mean, enough is enough with little bikini bottoms riding up my crack.

A more recent painting. I ordered a silver frame to go with it that’s going to look really nice.

Last weekend, Josh helped me out at the “Artist’s Garage Sale” art show put on by the Schack Art Center in downtown Everett. This was my second year doing the show. Last year had a lot of promise but POURED RAIN after the first hour which put a uh, “damper” on sales, bwa ha haaaa. I sold 9 original paintings this time, not bad for a 6 hour show. I feel good about it. For once I didn’t buy more than I sold–I only purchased a lil metal yard art ornament in the shape of a bat.

The latest BIG news is that we got a second dog! His name is Timmy and he has broken all the “rules” I had originally made for being a dog owner: he’s tiny (a mini Dachshund) and he was expensive (don’t ask), from a breeder (aren’t they all now???) and he’s a BOY (but what a boy!). It’s Day 3 and he’s glued to me. I had no idea a breed could be even more co-dependent than a Lab. My Lab is doing surprisingly well with all this. I don’t trust them to be alone YET, but maybe some day. TTFN!
